Yeah, he used to be... but he left.

@@tristanx0558 I just searched and confirmed it's true. Wow this man is talented.
I'm a nurse , This is 100% real
anewor rotcod hahahahahaha
😂😂😂😂
anewor rotcod hahahaha..im a nurse, but it was my choice..my parents wanted me to take up computer science..hahaha..so the career choice of filipino parents is either nursing or computer science
Aj Padua lol you’re like the ONE person. I did pre-nursing in high school, got to college and changed majors first chance I got. Parents didn’t talk to me for 2 weeks. 😂
anewor rotcod true.... im a filipino and im working as an RN in New Jersey

"Do you see any clowns in this family?" LOLOLOL
Justine A only you with that makeup lol
Ben Dover show your face then, dipshit
Me: Yes you ~points at mom while giving her the sassy glare~
"Josep who told you you were punny?" 😂😂😂
And that turn! lol
As HYSTERICAL as this is, there's a bit of sadness that comes along with it. I'm a writer working on my first novel, but I get compared to my nurse cousins ALL.THE.TIME. Until I get published, there's a certain amount of failure I feel, (from my DOCTOR father) and will continue to feel like a disappointment until then. I know he loves me with all his heart, and only wants the best for me, but this is how it is in Filipino families. I hope to make him proud (MY WAY, DOING MY THING) one day. But Jo Koy, thanks for bringing humor into a really depressing theme in Filipino culture!
Danie 0787 🤭
Same. My dream is to be a research scientist. It's not enough to even be in the sciences; I should just go to engineering or be a doctor if I even want to be acknowledged as 'successful'. Even then, they have no clue what a scientist does, so I know even if I get a Nobel prize (haha, yeah right. I'm not that smart), they wouldn't understand the gravitasque of such a situation.
But still, I love my parents. They're more supportive than most, so I really shouldn't say anything.
Word
I wanted to be a cop. Unfortunately i was convinced to tkae up nursing. It pays good money, however was never satisfied and happy with it. Whats important follow what your heart desires. Fight for what you want to do. If you do something something without it, eventually you'll feel regret. Don't envy your cousins. I'm proud of you, that you took a different path. Just pray hard for guidance. :)
Follow your heart 🌸❤ we only live once. Enjoy life and continue loving your parents
imagine being filipino and playing this video out loud in front of your entire filipino family
Im doing this right now
Justyne They would laugh, but you know they would lecture you after that.
My mom loved that video 😂
exactly what we're doing XD
My family watched this on netflix and all four of us girls turned to our mom
So pucking punny josep

Bago kayo magsalita.... iconsider po mga ibang lahi para hindi tayo nakakatawa at obvious na hindi observant ang ibang kabayan). Salamat sa pag-unawa.
hey who told u were punny josep?
Bery paking pani
OMG! That's true. Some of my Filipino friends told the same thing. About how there parents wanted them to be a nurse.
You either become a nurse/doctor/something in the medical field or a disappointment.
edstella engineers and go to middle east if they know you are good in math.

His Filipino accent is so on point especially for those who migrated a little older already
all my filipino friends are nurses and my mom wanted me to be one too, i am glad i followed my own dream to become a jabbawockee..... lmfao
Lol
Ok..Hehe that's funny
Shin A.F. Wtf is jabbawockee
Hes a member of jabbawackee
Hahahahaha
I've graduated with an Event Management degree, currently working in the industry too... my mom still pushes from time to time, "why don't you just become a nurse? it's better money, benefits."
adgulaymo HAHAHA
Your mom is right, nobody needs your shitty events. Nursing is one of the jobs that people have to do to survive and to live in dignity. How would you like it if you had cancer or a broken back and there was nobody to care for you because people think nursing is boring and prefer to organize amusement instead? You'd be pretty pissed off. But you don't want to do anything useful in return for other people, which makes you leech.
Chloe Elizabeth Rock Nobody in the world says everyone should have the same profession.
Chloe Elizabeth Rock I berated him/her for not having a useful job. Nowhere did I say that everyone should be a nurse.
An Event management degree??? Tf is that? My mom would have kicked my ass if I chose that as a major. When you're an immigrant you're either a doctor, nurse, pharmacist, accountant, or engineer.
The fact that most members of Jabba are Filipinos 😂, so glad they followed their dream.
FACT- JOKOY WAS A FORMER JABAWOKEEZ DANCER! No wonder he still has the moves!
Ooohh?
nope, guilible shit haha
Told my parents i wanted to be a paleontologist since i loved watching jurassic park when i was little. Mom told me there are only dog bones left to dig.
Lol same here I wanted to be a paleontologist when I was little was back in the PH after watching Jurassic Park. Too bad, I realize back then, the Philippines doesnt have dinosaur bones or paleo museums.... :(
OMG! You comment man. LMAO! 😂
OMG, this had me laughing so hard! LMAO
You are my spirit animal 🤣😅😆
Lmao that's cruel!
Mom wanted me to be a doctor. She even accompanied me to the college of Medicine at the University of the Philippines in Manila much to my chagrin. Good thing it was a quota course, where you had to pass a certain level of grade in the entrance exam, which meant I failed big time leaving me free to chose a career in advertising instead. :D
Its actually the opposite for me. My father was a musician, but I wanted to be a doctor.
johnnyb620 I'm a musician, but when mom says you be nurse, you be nurse.
Sinadya ko bagsak UST exam ko Dahil magulang ko pumili nung kurso. Badtrip eh
@@karlmichaelcarvajal4810 Ahahaha that's a good decision, keep you own dream then chase your goal after you graduate
What a gangsta move 😂
I had that EXACT conversation with my mom. I wanted to be a singer or wedding dress designer. She SHOT IT DOWWNN
I wish he included the classic line " [instert dream here] is just a hobby, just do it on the side. Be a nurse."
I understand why Filipino moms from back home do it though. Its cause nursing is a stable job and people back home look up to those in the health care industry. It's a job that they know will adequately support their kids and keep them stable eve after they pass on.
I'm proud to be a nurse now and 100% appreciate my mom... but nursing wasn't my dream.
MiniMissEllie hahahahahhahahahhahhahahahahahahhahahhahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahhahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahahahhahahahhahhahahhhahhahhahhahhahhahahhahhhahhah it wasn't anyone's dream 😕
Same here. It's light years away from what I wanted to be.
Just do it on the side and enjoy. But have a fall back! 100% TRUE.
And she’s right. Did wedding photography on the side, hella fun, but seeing the business and industry, and cost of doing business and taxes? Yep, glad I’m at a job that will never go away and ways pays well.
cruz1aviator are you a nurse?
I got “You can do whatever you want, just finish nursing school first.” Switched majors the next day. 😂
This is the funniest skit ever. I'm a nurse, not Filipino, but I can totally see it working with so many amazing ones. They are the smartest, no nonsense, most skilled nurses. Jo, you got it on lock man.
Him not stepping on the microphone cord is uh...mazing!!! It’s a skill!
While dancing too!
What's amazing is his jokes coming from his actual life experiences and making it humourous for the crowd.
I was lucky enough to be taken care by philipino nurses. They treated me as a family member when I was at the hospital for a brain tumor removal surgery. I was hospitalized from December 2018 to July 2019. And most of the time my nurses were Philippino or Philippino American. All of them were great. Not one was a bad nurse. Thank God for Philippino nurses.
This sh*t hit home for me. I have a nursing degree from one of the top nursing schools in the Philippines because my mom told me to take nursing. My aunts and cousins are also nurses, and I did not have the heart to say no to my mom. While in college I got into breaking/bboying and the jbwkz were pretty hot back then so of course I memorized their routines and I was even known in my school for my dancing.
Fast forward to a few years later, I graduated and passed the board and became a registered nurse but I had already decided not to pursue it and whenever I go to family events that would always come up and it's a nightmare but I got used to it.
Some of my then classmates are now in other countries working as nurses and some even are now doctors. As for me, I now work as a supervisor for an IT/Consulting company and still continue to pursue my other passions everyday.
Can we take a moment to appreciate his Jabbawockee moves?
My wife is a nurse, My dad is a Doctor, My mom is a nurse, my auntie and cousins are nurses.
And I am a nurse. But my dream was to be a singer or dancer just like you Joseph. 😂
i told my mom i wanna be a soldier. then she said you wanna die early?
Djames 😂😂😂😂😂
you wanna serve in the she got no choice. If thats what youre gunning for.
hahaha 😂
My mom wants me to become a soldier! Ahahaha she wants me to die early
Kansui 😂😂😂
As a filipina, I can say that this is accurate. My parents always pushed me to become a doctor. Since I was 10. I wanted to become an artist but now I am on my first year in medicine. 😭
It’s been 5 yrs, how’s the progress ?
found this guys video by accident and glad i did.....he is soooooo funny 😅😅
This is my mom!! What are aspirations? You want to be a teacher? What? No. Nurse, Lawyer, or Engineer, pick one
Same. My mom is a nurse and I'm a teacher. She did NOT support that. But I did it anyway!
add "Sea man"
I'm an engineer now bcos of my family hahahaha!
I choose ","
My mom wants me to be a nurse, lawyer or engineer HAHAHAHAHA I don't want to be either of those. I want to be something else
My sister was doing her Fellowship at University of Arizona's Cardiac Surgery Center.
She was with a fellow doctor and he had a page from the ICU and a Filipino nurse was telling him the status of a patient who was taking a down turn. The physician said he couldn't understand what the Nurse was trying to tell him. He told my sister, she keeps saying "chicken and bread, chicken and bread! I told her I'm not hungry!"
My sister said, 'let me talk to her." Sis then told the doctor the nurse was saying "she cannot breath." They rushed up to ICU to check on their patient.
My sister and I are twins and we're half Filipino and our Mom is FilAm born in Stockton Caifornia in the late 1940s. From 9 years old until we went to college, our Lola (grandmother) lived and helped raise us and that thick Filipino accent Lola had, we heard growing up saved that woman in the ICU. Hahahahaha!
OMG! I can't! I'm dead! LOL!
That sounds horrible 😱🤦♀️😕
Damn, Jo Koy is just beaming with talent. He can dance, sing while cracking a joke. He's comic lines are original and so hysterically funny.
I’m white af but was raised as a baby nurse by Filipinos so I am part Filipino nurse
I have no regrets of being an RN. As the matter of fact, its the best advice that i have received from my parents. I managed to use my RN salary to acquire two nursing homes in Las Vegas. I dont follow dreams... i make my own. I have learned to love the career that helped me BUILD my dreams.
So we're just going to pretend he didn't pull of those sweet dance moves
Buddha Simpson he used to be a jabawockee
nah he wasnt a kabawockee. he’s friends with the wockees
@@f.i.l.d.e.p.s he used to actually they are all friend in colleges and im with them befor in highschool to college

I’m a nurse and I showed this to my Filipino coworkers, apparently it’s super relatable 😂
My Nurse is Filipina. She called me and told me my cholesterol was high. Damn I thought I was in trouble and my cholesterol got scared and went down on its own. It’s a miracle no lie 😜😭🤣
XD
Yes....my mom wanted me to be a nurse too. I made it as far as an EMT lol.
I saw him in Seattle and seeing him again in February! Can’t wait 😎😎
Who wants to bet that sometime in the (hopefully) distant future, there will be a 'where are they now?' video, and there will be Jo, a night nurse in some hospital somewhere. Filipino moms don't lose, josep.
Lol..

This is 100% one of my favorite bits!! I could watch it over & over it never gets old! 💙🤣🤣
the accent is killin me. GoodJob

Oh Joseph if you had followed your mom's dream than we can never listen to your mom's stories 😅
Thank you for following your dream and entertaining us ❤️
This is 100% real, a lot of my cousins and aunties are nurses. 😂
The jabbawockeez part is sooo hilarious! 🤣
JoKoy, i love your filipino nurse accent!😂 I had the same experience parents-predetermined to be RN. Went a different path and followed my own dream.✌
My dear fellow Filipinos, please don't lie. Some of you definitely showed this vid to your moms.
He actually dances so good! 😲
293 dislikes were from Filipino moms who are nurses....
Make that 306 dislikes. :D
i absolutely LOVE his impersonation of his mom lmao too funny !!

Any other FIlipinos out there currently jobless and regret not becoming a nurse? Or is it just me lol
i love jo koy makes me laugh out LOUD
I went to the hospital tonight and when they took me to the back where all the nurses are...yes, you guessed it. They were ALL filipino! All I thought about was Jo Koy and this part. I couldn’t help but laugh
This guy lives the life he’s talking about. He actually lived true to himself. Boss.
Bro: Ma I want to be a professional athlete.
Ma: Ma? Whattt? No you're going to be a PRIEST! So you can save us from hell! 😂😂😂
*DO YOU SEE ANY CLOWNS IN THIS FAMILY, DO YOU?!*
This was a great set. I actually feel bad for most Filipino nurses. If nursing is your passion and what YOU believe in then fantastic. But for 95% of Filipino nurses they chose that profession to get a gold star from their mommy and daddy like a 5 year old.
himasha Flores - Not at all. Where did you gather that 95 %? It's more of being a realist. Those foreign nurses ( not only Filipinos) came to America as engineers, lawyers , doctors , etc...and they end up to study to be a nurse. I know very well because I'm a nurse myself.
It comes from nurses that I know. I'm Filipino so I grew up around countless nurses who hate their jobs and did it for the money and for mom/dad. Like I said Nursing is a great profession if thats what the person actually wants but often times with Fil-Ams in particular its absolutely NOT.
But that that doesn't account to the conclusion of 95%. Right? You have to make an empirical concensus before arriving at such. Of all the Filipino nurses I work with only a few says they wanted to be in different career and the rest are thankful being a nurse. The doctors, engineers, dentist , etc... who became a nurse says, "I should have taken nursing from the very start."
med8tor1 it's true. My mom is a Mexican nurse who came here as a doctor and she knows A LOT of Filipino nurses at work who came from the Philippines as doctors, engineers and accountants only to study nursing because it was short education with good pay. Most of them do it to survive not because they like it...I mean some like their jobs but for a lot of them it was a last resort plus they already had other Filipinos who could guide them into the profession which made it easier for them.
His acting is second to none
that jabbowockee moves are legit. 😂😂
My friend, who is a pediatrician in LA, told me this is exactly true. Both of his parents are also doctors!
Not gonna lie he pulled that jabbawockee move smooth 😂
I came from a family of doctors. My relatives have been pushing me to pursue Medicine as well, but fortunately, my mother never pressured me or dictated which path I should carry on. And I always felt conflicted because the idea of being able to say that "oh, we're all doctors in the family" seems really nice and very honouring. Also, I wanted them to be proud of me. The pressure doubled when our eldest cousin topped the Nursing Board Exams (Nursing was her Pre-med course) and went to Med School with a scholarship. On our generation, all of them are going to be doctors (a couple of my cousins are now in Med School) except for me and my siblings. I'm going to pursue business, my brother currently pursues Marine Transportation (he's now in Maritime School), and our youngest sister has not yet decided.
It's going to be a sad day for you, if you decide to take a path based on that one-liner "oh, we're all doctors..." All the blood, sweat and tears, all those years of education to become a doctor; if your heart isn't in it, if you don't have total conviction that this is what you're meant to do with your life...
Why not choose something based on your interests, talents, intuition, creativity, how you want to contribute something to the world, etc? There are many paths that's just as honoring. Best wishes to your authentic self.
"Who told you that you are funny" #funny :)
Saleh Abass It wasn't me!!
Disturbed Pyro im dead
The facility I’m a nurse at has a crap ton of Filipino nurses. Some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet.
My dad wanted to break the cycle so he convinced my mom that I would look handsome in a navy uniform. So she made me join the Navy. One yoke for another lol
Well at least that’s something
Everything that Jo Koy said is 100% fucking true.
Hilarious! I was tearing up watching this! This is very true! We fall into our Mom's aspirations for, but they do know what's best for us most of the time! More power Jo Koy, I am now hooked to your channel!
Hahaha yes relate it’s mom who told me
To be a nurse! And im happy I followed her because Im in Australia now because im a nurse :)
I am Filipino and this is 100 percent real that's really like my mom this man speaks the truth 😂
A friend of mine who's parents are both physicians, became a doctor (pediatrician) and he agreed wholeheartedly with this!
I'm laughing because my moms half Filipino and she always told me to follow my dreams and whenever I tell her what I want she would say how about being a doctor?
ahahahahaha legit man, i wanted to be a cook and here i am studying for architecture
It's a trap!

Its funny how my mom after highschool graduation, my mom told everyone of my friends and siblings dont be a nurse, nursing job is toxic, the shifting hours, the things you need to study so on and so forth. One month after all my friends where studying nursing and my sister even my brother studied nursing. I was the only one in my family who wasnt in the medical field.

I could never tired of this.
Lol... I work with alot of Filipinos and this is absolutely true.. I cried laughing.. And with the dancing, I definitely see the younger Filipino nurses do that
A big thanks to all you nurses out there and to all ofws in general ..you making life much easier for us back here..mabuhay kayo mga bro and sis.

Not anymore.... (trust me and I am a nurse)
died laughing😂😂
I love how you tell us your joke, it's funny because you put an accent to it.. i like it...
Ha! Funny but sadly true. My mom actually told me "if you don't want to be a nurse, you can work at McDonalds frying French fries" so I pretty had to find a career I could pay myself
What’s wrong with working at a fast food ?? That’s stupid as fuck it’s a job
@@51844mj it is a job alright.. a job that pays you minimum wage vs a nurse who gets payed way way more.

That is totally true... even your Filipino aunties will pre-determine your future career. They hated me so much because I didn't listen to them... Now I am stable with my job as a scientist.
Same here 😅 All my cousins are in the medical field. XD i'm the writer.
Haha! What a relief from the mountain of exam papers I have to check. The profs here in the Science Dept of UA&P laughed 'til they cried (almost!).
Indeed! I myself have 2 years and didn't finish and I have so many nurses and Scientists in my family...and a doctor.
