      The audience understood what he's gone through with his mom, and thats part of the reason why this is goddamn hilarious. Of course some of them stories are exaggerated for the sake of comedy, but for sure most of the people in that room had the same experience with their parents at some point.

      🤣🤣 That was one of my favorite things during that special. All the mom's I know say that. I hate the whole "where was the last place you saw it" and my answer was always if I knew I wouldn't be asking. The worst part was her and my brother would always ask where something was. I'd reply with the question of "where was the last place they saw it" and then tell them where it was.

    As an Asian Indian I can totally relate, like if I get into a car accident and I call my mom about it, she will first lecture me about how I should drive carefully, whereas american parents the first thing they ask you is " are you okay?"

    The little kid in church was so funny 😂 and so true! My mom got proactive when glares, whispers, and pinches failed. She seated us sis-mom-bro-dad-bro and brough a baggie of peppermint lozenges to pass out every 10-15 minutes. How long the preacher talked was apparent by how many we received: "Wow, that was a three-peppermint sermon!"

    My mom would already pinch us before we walked into church. 🤦‍♀️ But we still didn't learn our lesson and we misbehaved during mass so when the van door closed we knew we were getting it. 🤣 It wasn't funny then but it is now, especially knowing we weren't the only family getting it before/during/after church.       I think that’s pretty much any race of kids. I am Latin and the pinching in church was pretty common. I know my brother and I got our fair share of church pinches and the ass beatings after we left depending on how much we pissed our mom off during mass.

      Any Sunday we didn't have children's church, I always say next to PawPaw. He would feed me peppermints. When he ran out he fed me Rolaids! Then he stacked up a few hymnals to rest his elbow on and took a nap! I never got in trouble with PawPaw!

    It’s an Asian thing. In Malay there’s a phrase where our mom would say to us if we can’t find our things. “Cari Pakai mata bukan Pakai mulot” which translates to find your things using your eyes not your mouth.

I suppose it's based on a person's preference. Lol She was an old Filipina woman who had some extra love areas. Lol

    Thats how fun loving Filipino families growing up. Bullying was.part that would,make u laugh especially when mom steps in.😆😂 but with lessons learned. U see Filipinos are young looking because cracking jokes, teasing or laughing is one of the traits we have

    The thing that his grandma asked is "salim" in indonesia, we took our elders right hand and put on your head while bowing. that kind of way how respecting our elders in south east asia.

      Edit: there is no bow gesture, we lower our head to their arms or
      ex:
      Grandma sitting -> they give their hands -> we raise their hands and ñet it reach our head

    He reminded me so much if my son during that church sketch!! Except, I would twist his ear.... then, he would keep acting up. I always carried a wooden spoon in my purse to threaten him into submission. Once, in church, I opened my purse to show him the spoon in a silent attempt to make him sit still. He ran to the front of the church yelling the whole way down the aisle, 'OOOOH NOOOO!! NOT THE ROD OF CORRECTION! NOT THE ROD OF CORRECTION!! He was about 5 years old at the time and he knew what he was doing. Needless to say, he got all the laughs to his delight...

      It does seem pretty similar, but i think it is like asking for their blessing instead of us blessing them, and at least in my family, we kiss the person's hand (or otherwise, or both) instead of touching it with our forehead
      I think the phillipines were colonized by Spain, Brazil was colonized by Portugal, which is close to Spain in many ways, don t know if it has anything to do with it
