This reminded me there is 0 destruction in BF2042. A Battlefield game... with no destruction. I have no idea what they were thinking, probably something to do with the ill-influence of E-Sports creeping in and demanding everything be "fair" and "competitive" so sweaties can sweat more.
I missed out on the earlier titles but when BF V was still popping off, the destructible buildings were one of my favorite aspects to the game. Really lent itself to the unpredictability (and of course, immersion) of the combat.
@@thecosmonaut4221 I am. I know about project rome and everything but it's always sad to see games lose first party support like this, the communities never truly recover.
Lol just saw this 6 days after upload. Something I've fought vocally for since post BF2142 was for multiplayer shooters to have some form of bot support, or offer people tools to create and edit bots for the game. Back in the day it was the perfect warmup when booting up 1942 or BF2. And nowadays at least weekly I go back to these games and mod the bots to my liking and spend hours tickling my nostalgia. Ravenfield is extremely popular in the PVE community, and Running With Rifles fans have been loyal since day 1 because those games can be played forever regardless of server player counts. Man, I still play Star Wars Battlefront 2 from 2005(?) all the time because that Galactic Conquest mode is addicting even if its just bots. And as a final note, bot support gives me an excuse to buy the game a second or even third time.
Aye, anyone who played Bad Company, Bad Company 2, or 1943 can be TRUE Battlefield vets now! Welcome to the Battlefield shut down club! :') Battlefield Vet from BF1942, BF Vietnam, BF2, BF2142, BF:Heroes, BF:Play4free, and soon Bad Company 1 & 2, and 1943. Fun fact: There were fan projects to revive the servers for Battlefield 2, Battlefield Heroes, and Battlefield 2142, FOR FREE, but was shut down by EA. EDIT: 9:30 my man, 2142 was, and will be my favorite battlefield, forever. Hoping for a 2143. Maybe some day.
Those fan project were shut down because they were “illegally distributing” the game, So the people for those projects just told the community “hey man get the game by any means necessary but do this steps to get to play online” These projects are still a live and well like 2142’s Project Reclamation and Project Remastered mod , Bf2 hub and others EA is surprisingly fine with stuff like this they just get mad if they catch wind the people at the top of these projects are distributing either fake or legit copies themselves
I mean, why not let us use the old games noone else is interested in? Its not like they're selling copies of Battlefield 2 or 2142 anymore anyway lol From a legal standpoint, I get it, but at that point it just makes EA look petty as ever, which is generally not a good look. I just wish the next game isn't a CoD clone mutant like 2042 was. Its pretty awesome now, 700hrs-ish in, but because it fell directly on its face at launch itll never see the player numbers it should. @@thecosmonaut4221
I remember buying Bad Company 2 more than 12 years ago, after my friend convinced me to buy it. Some of the best gaming memories I've made. Hopped on it a few days after it was announced the servers would shut down. The game is somewhat dated now, but it has its charm that will be deeply missed and that bastardized BF2042 Portal experience will not fill the hole in my heart that BC2 will leave. Very sadge indeed. btw, why does your character look so confused? lol
They need to expand portal like MCC offered the original games on top of the anniversary edition of those multiplayers Also my character (Chito from girls last tour) is explaining something to her friend in the panel I took the screenshot in she has a funnier confused face lol
@@drunkgforce1 Jojjevg. Idk if the game had regional servers. We live in Europe so he might’ve only played in Euro servers (if you happen to be outside of Europe and the game having regional servers)
Thank the good Lord I bought Bad Company 2 on Steam before they unlisted it, I still can download it and am doing so right now I absolutely loved this game when I was a little kid playing it on my dad's 360 the campaign was the best mix of fun and cheesy I played it through probably 10 times over
For Christmas when I was a kid I asked my grandma for black ops 2 and she got me bad company 2 instead. I Still love the og cods but bc2 really made me a battlefield fan.
Hopefully with 360 emulation getting pretty great now we can somehow get custom servers for these games. Not sure how doable that would be though, or how soon it may happen, but it'd be so nice. There is still nothing like Battlefield 1943, and that's a shame. It's genuinely my favorite multiplayer shooter. If we ever did get custom servers I'd be jumping on that instantly lol.
Yeah it’s personally not the games I grew up with but I understand their importance and I’m glad it *was* someone’s childhood and I’m happy I got to play them before the shutdown
1) the official servers will be going down 2) this will not affect any third party services (luckily EA is chill with that) 3)I’m assuming it’s similar to project remaster or project reclaim for 2142 so sounds great and I’ll be checking it out
Battlefield was perfection back then. Played all the shooters but online sniping was the best then. But I still play 1942 just to feel good ole nostalgia from when I was little. Still Playa great
Xbox matches are very much still alive (all 90% of the footage was from Xbox) in order to have gotten a key from steam you’d had to contact EA support where they wouldn’t give you a key they’d just gift you a free copy of BC2 to your EA account where it doesn’t ask you for a key (stupid I know) that does t exist anymore sadly so I guess your only option is Xbox but I assure you there’s people still playing in these final days
I have 0 nastalgia for Bad company 1&2 but 1943 was my first battlefield I've ever played but now I just play 1&5 and I sometimes go back to play 1942 and Vietnam
When it comes to game preservation, one of the best things is backwards compatibility. Even if you can't buy it digitally, you can still own the disc and play the game that way. Xbox needs to continue backcompat support and Playstatation needs to do it because they don't have any games. Also, offline bot battles are a great way to keep these games alive after theyve been closed down.
BC2 is the only game I've ever played where I pre-ordered the game after playing six nonstop hours of the beta, only to go in and put another 600 playing the game until no one else was left to play. It was my first Battlefield it was probably my best (Battlefield 1 is a close second). This was in the PS3 with it's terrible frame drops, lack of aliasing and controllers incredibly ill suited for FPS. Call of Duty taught me to be selfish and play for KD, Battlefield taught me to die for the squad if I needed to, because that was the only way to win, to go down with the tank, to spot so others could live, to pause a moment to take on some passengers because I knew how much concentrating force at the frontline could change the game. I still have my PS3 copy and I'm never giving it away. I suffered through the first year of BF4, the sub 20 fps of BF3 and the atrocity that was BFV because of my memories in BC2, and later BF1. Shame that DICE didn't know they had a good thing on their hands and now they're no more. Cest la vie! (I don't think alienating "jet players" is an issue, I think what works in public matches of Battlefield is that the individual soldier should be able to hurt any vehicle that can hurt him. This is why the planes in BF1 (even the Muromets) never made me rage quit. Jets don't allow that unless you're an engineer with anti-air. I'd be cool with a separate air superiority or suppression of anti air type mode)
bad company 2 was the absolute best. destruction felt like more than a feature, but a utility. the classes all complimented one another, none were less useful than the next gunplay was fun and the whacky stuff you could pull was great.
just wondering if I get it BB2 PC version through the EA Play and Play Pro will I own it forever? and be able to use fan servers there's only 3 days left until they remove it from Play and Play Pro
The pc and console version of the game will be taken off of EA Play on 11/30/2023, the way to own it on pc is to have purchased it on Steam or EA app, sad days man your gonna have to enjoy the next 2 days
@@thecosmonaut4221 Ok so if i get it through "Play and Play Pro" that doesn't mean i own it? sorry I've never used that feature I don't know if i'd get to keep the game that way.
Yeah, delisting old titles seems to be the move lately for hollow AAA game companies obsessed with the bottom line. It's purely a fiscal move because they don't want to be bothered to maintain servers for old titles that don't make as much money, but I wouldn't be surprised if part of it is also "encouraging" their playerbase to try out their shiny new titles that lack soul, polish and fun. Nothing new about what I'm saying really but it's happening more and more and it's just gonna get worse. It makes me appreciate the few game companies that aren't ashamed of their prior work and love sharing those dusty old titles of theirs, for free even, simply because they want people to enjoy the fruits of their labor from decades ago (Hi, Valve!). Aside from the few FPS titles still worth playing, and the older titles I still have my hands on, I couldn't care less about gaming lately and the entire endeavor just sounds like a headache and money sink. I'm probably just gonna get into guitar or reading or something, no better time to drop a dead hobby on the floor...
Time to boot up the good ol ps3 again
