  • In order to tank, I need to have more toughness than everyone else in the squad. Since I don't bring a block I prefer to run high toughness. While Xera's Blurred Frenzy can be face-tanked, it does hit quite hard and can down me, so I prefer to dodge out of the way and / or heal & condi cleanse via Healing Spring or CA#2 (see 1:33, 2:02, 4:09, 4:39, 5:09).
By gliding in early and closing the glider when I'm in the main platform, I spawn in the middle of the arena immediately which negates any movement Xera would usually do if I just ran in (see 1:08). This can change her attack pattern though which means she might do her Blurred Frenzy early.
At 90%, Xera gains a breakbar which I help to break ASAP by casting any available hard ccs such as Glyph of Equality, both pet F2s, Mace#3, Warhorn#5, entering CA thanks to the Druid adept trait Blood Moon, and CA#3 (see 1:23). Depending on the squad's dps, she might do more breakbars (see 4:34).
Sadly, the gliding phase is quite long, so in order to keep up Alacrity CA has to be used during the phase. Since all players are moving around, I usually don't hit everyone in my subgroup though which leads to drops in Alacrity uptime. However, in pug groups it's usually not a problem to gain CA again during the gliding phase, so I just use it freely.
Since we lost a player during gliding and I wasn't confident in my squad, I didn't tank at the edge in phase 2 like I do in my static but pulled Xera in the middle first, then to platform#5, and back into the middle (see 3:49). In hindsight, none of those pulls were necessary and I could have just started and stayed at platform#5 from the start of the phase.

Disclaimer: Both Monk (Core) or Karakosa (SotO) relic are fine; keep in mind that you need to successfully combo your blast finishers for Karakosa though which requires a squad composition with lots of combo fields or adjustments in your gameplay, making Monk the all-rounder pick. If you don't own SotO for Mace, take an Axe instead - you trade some protection, regeneration, and vigor sources, cc, and healing for potentially unique conditions, range, and faster CA generation. The infusion isn't strictly needed; without it you lose 5 concentration = 0.33% boon duration.

Does paralyzation sigil affect pet cc? Otherwise wouldn't 232 cc pets be better than moa?

No, cc modifiers do not affect pet skills. Which cc pet is better depends on how fast the breakbar is over plus how you manage your pets.
Both Pink and Black Moa do 300 breakbar damage, so 600 in total if you do F2 - pet swap - F2.
Gazelle and Electric Wyvern do 232 on their F2 plus 200 (Gazelle) / 232 (Wyvern) on one of their non-F2 skills. Assuming you have them on guard, that means you can achieve almost 700 breakbar damage if you do F2 - pet swap - F2 and the 2nd Pet has time to also cast their non-F2 cc. If you want to tryhard, you can set your pets on passive, and let them attack when the breakbar starts for an additional non-F2 cc before swapping Pets (~900 breakbar damage). In case of the Wyvern, you actually also leave a Lightning field which can be combo'd with Leap Finishers for additional dazes (100 breakbar damage) from your allies. However, this means more pet micro management and needing an ally to increase the cc output over double Moa.
I personally don't like to play that pet management minigame since tracking the non-F2 cc isn't really easy and I already have enough buttons to press during breakbars. However, I recently started to swap my cc pets on certain bosses with long breakbars (e.g. Sabir); I'm probably not gonna do that for bosses like Xera though.

Ok but wiki says moa cc is 200? So is it outdated info?

@@XmantiX Yes, it is. A few months ago there was a balance patch that changed a lot of Ranger pet skills. Before the change, Pink Moa did 200 breakbar damage in 1 hit, and Black Moa did 300 breakbar damage over 3 hits. Since that patch though, both Moas share the exact same skill with 300 breakbar damage in 1 hit. Thanks for letting me know about the outdated wiki, I'll fix that!
