Fun Fact: They're singing Smokey Robinson and the Miracles' "Who's Lovin' You" in the beginning :). That song's been covered by many groups and solo singers, including The Temptations, The Supremes, The Jackson 5 (their version is touted as the most famous, with an 11-year-old MJ on the lead vocals), and Lauryn Hill at age 13 (she sang it for the notoriously picky Apollo crowd, and they booed her at first but she continued and eventually got a standing ovation

"Hold On" is a song by American girl group En Vogue. It was released in early 1990 as the lead single from their debut album, Born to Sing. The song was produced by Denzil Foster and Thomas McElroy, and composed by the former two and all members of En Vogue. It peaked at number 5 in the UK and number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the US. In addition, the song reached number-one on the Billboard Dance Club Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts. In 2017, "Hold On" was ranked number 4 in Spin magazine's ranking of The 30 Best ’90s R&B Songs.
(you've probably done your homework by now but thats Cindy Herron-Braggs on lead vocals and Terry Ellis doing the acapella. Just an FYI: they've sung Hold On LIVE at every single concert they've ever done and its always flawless).

Hold on was released at the end of 1989 (Dec. 5th), and it was THE hit party song all through 1990.

Don't Let Go (Love) was primarily led by Dawn, Maxine sang the bridge, while Cindy and Terry ad-libbed the last two chorus! This song is led by Terry (during the acapella), and Cindy! And this came out in 1989 (on radios) but 1990 as a physical single

This was such a monster hit back in the day, Jack! You just don't know, lol. When this song dropped we all knew these girls were gonna be super-duper stars! This was En Vogue's very first single. And yes, Cindy Herron is so, so, so, so fine. I don't know if you ever watched the movie "Juice" starring Tupac Shakur and Omar Epps, but Cindy had a key role in that movie (as the main character Q's [Epps] love interest). If you haven't seen that movie, I highly suggest you do. Great performance by Tupac Shakur as the villain of the story.

They were once called The Supremes Of The Video Age. Them, SWV, Xscape were some of the Biggest Female R & B Groups in the 1990's. Here's another fun fact. When they were in the Top Ten with "Hold On" Wilson Phillips (A Trio who are the children of The Beach Boys & The Mamas & The Papas) were also in the Top Ten with Hold On (Another Song, not theirs). Carnie Wilson said they were blown away by their vocals. The Beginning they sang a snippet of "Who's Loving You" by Smokey Robinson & The Miracles. Today that is the song that so many folks sing when they audition for the X Factor in The UK.

This was their 1st joint. The song they were singin a capella as an intro, is Smokey Robinson's, 'Who's Lovin You', made popular by an incredible9 or 10 yr. old Michael Jackson with the J-5. That was Terry leading on that part, wit them come hither-if-you-dare eyes...lol! Cindy is the lead on the Hold On groove. You already heard Don't Let Go. Their other hits:
    Free Your Mind
Givin Him Somethin He Can Feel (their take on an Aretha Franklin)
Never Gonna Get It - a killer, & probably became their most popular hit.

A cappella part is verse/chorus from a song that Jackson 5 did called, ‘Who’s Lovin You’, which 10 or 11 yr old Michael sang like he was grown. You can hear his James Brown ballad influence when you hear it. Who’s Lovin You was actually written by Smokey Robinson of the group, the Miracles, back in the Motown days. En Vogue’s work was always top production & musically on point, often slammin, with killin sometimes sophisticated harmony arrangements. They even ventured into the rock sound slightly, with ‘Free Your Mind. You should also check, ‘Givin Him Something He Can Feel’, originally done by Aretha Franklin. Both uses have great videos as well. I think they’re biggest hit, also with great video, was ‘Never Gonna Get It’. Seems they could’ve gotten more mileage out of their career as a group, but unfortunately there seemed to be some discord (pun intended) that came up & caused discontent, probably concerning bidness. They performed for awhile as a trio & I did see all 4 back together on some show where they sang to a track, but looks like it’s run it’s course. Cool reaction! 👍

It feels like 2 songs because it is...the Acapella portion in the beginning was"Who's Loving You" written by Smokey Robinson performed by Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5 in the '70's. So many people have rebooted that one......(didn't read any comments, I'm late to the party 😉)
