I'd like to think if I was a young person there to see John Mayer and this was the first song I'd heard from the Grateful Dead.....I would find it incredibly profound and peaceful and want to hear more.
@Gary Benedict Excellent! American Beauty, Wortking MAns' Dead and Europe 72 are good entry level CDS . Also, look for Dead and Company performing Brokedown Palace, Sugaree and Althea here on RUclips.
@@laurenjackson8853 Kinda funny....I started listening to the Dead when I was 17....and just found out about JM when he joined Dead and Co. Welcome to the greatest catalog of American music ever assembled. :)
@@2911sagar Most Definitely -- dead and Co does a good job of giving him songs that he makes his own. Search for Brokedown Palace and Black Muddy River if you like personal ballads.
What a beautiful tribute to Jerry Garcia. Thanks, John! Yesterday was a hard day. Glad you are carrying on his legacy, and bringing the music to a new generation.
jesus christ...ripple into born and raised. i would have left this reality if i was there. those two songs are the closest it comes to describing what a human soul sounds like
Such an incredible show last night ❤️💛💚💙💜 I am still at a loss for words at how much this show meant to me and how iconic it was. John is a legend and of anyone doubts that watch the footage from last night
65 years ago almost to the day, I was born not too far from there. I wish I was there to see the magnificent Johnnie M! You could spot me munching on scuppernong grapes and sweet potatoes under a LongLeaf Pine being extra careful not to get any on my Black Saint tee shirt. Love to all in the Tar Heel State!
Brilliant show. And just when I was slightly sad there would be no Dead Covers, here ya go! Simple. Great. Tribute. Great Great show. See ya in Mexico John!
Right on! I was praying all week for Althea but Ripple will do just fine! Agreed, it was a very nice show. John is really maturing as he ages! All the best, B
If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung Would you hear my voice come through the music? Would you hold it near as it were your own? It's a hand-me-down, the thoughts are broken Perhaps they're better left unsung I don't know, don't really care Let there be songs to fill the air Ripple in still water When there is no pebble tossed Nor wind to blow Reach out your hand if your cup be empty If your cup is full, may it be again Let it be known there is a fountain That was not made by the hands of men There is a road, no simple highway Between the dawn and the dark of night And if you go, no one may follow That path is for your steps alone Ripple in still water When there is no pebble tossed Nor wind to blow You who choose to lead must follow But if you fall, you fall alone If you should stand, then who's to guide you? If I knew the way I would take you home La da da da...
The only other piece I got was the opener Helpless. I was trying hard to NOT watch the show from "behind the camera." But when the first chords of Ripple started weaving through the arena, I couldn't help but rip out the phone as fast as I could and capture it for others to appreciate. :-) You're right, the acoustic Neon was also amazing. Best, B

I think this song suits John's voice. He manages to make it sound extremely personal.

Glad he is showing a young audience how awesome the dead are. Let there be songs to fill the air! RIP Jerry 24 years ago on the day of that concert!
Agreed, and the great thing is that they are ENJOYING it! (Still hard to believe it has been 24 years....)

Mayer has officially won me over.
Yeah, I've certainly come around myself at the urging of my wife who's been a believer from the very beginning. :-)
with tears......

bobby ought to let him sing Ripple all by himself now
Yeah, I'd take this over the falsetto things he gets into from time to time. :-D He can do a good Ripple, can't he? :-)

Agreed! John is certainly laying the foundation for a legendary career isn't he?

I now have a new respect for jon Mayer .
An absolute legend singing a legendary song from a legendary time
... AND I'd say introducing this legendary material to a new crowd that will grow to love it as well! ;-)
Absolutely I’m only 18 but my dad had me growing up on John Mayer, the dead, doors etc and it’s beginning to spread like a wildfire
AWESOME to hear! Welcome!
Love this ripple, and tribute to Jerry!!
Miss You Jerry 🙏👌😊☮️

Reach out your hand if your cup be empty
If your cup is full, may it be again
Let it be known there is a fountain
That was not made by the hands of men
There is a road, no simple highway
Between the dawn and the dark of night
And if you go, no one may follow
That path is for your steps alone
Ripple in still water
When there is no pebble tossed
Nor wind to blow
You who choose to lead must follow
But if you fall, you fall alone
If you should stand, then who's to guide you?
If I knew the way I would take you home

thanks JOHN !@
Hey did you get any other footage from this concert like the acoustic neon?
