Funny.. people cried in outrage when Mayer was announced. I always said.. Clapton took him under his wing, he played with big boys.. his original music was to get out there. Dude is one of the greatest ever. Jerry is smiling, just as John playing those licks.
I was fortunate enough to be at this concert. It was a wonderful show. It was the first time I ever heard John Mayer live and he definitely convinced me of his bona fides as a guitarist. I think Jerry Garcia would have loved it. I think Jerry Garcia would have loved to jam with John Mayer. I think I would have loved that too.
What a great performance. Bob sounds good and he knows what this means to the audience. Not only is John a great guitar player and singer but he knows the characters and he channels the power of the ancestors. All of the grateful Dead tribute bands help to keep the music alive but oh how I miss the fat man!
Me and my wife never raised our kids in nursery rhymes. We raised them on the dead, Beatles, Billy Joel, and countless others. My 3 year old is sleeping at the moment with Ripple playing in repeat. Ripple has been a benchmark for all three of my kids and will live on in this family
He's a legend. We are privileged to have such a guy like him in the music scene these days. He is able to beautifully carry two torchs, of the Dead and SRV/Hendrix/Blues in general.
Ive never been a huge GD fan... Ripple and Sugaree the exceptions... but this JM addition is just what they needed. Bob's look is priceless and one for the ages. Im glad someone captured it.
Bobby's glance towards John makes me tear up every time, almost as if he saw Jerry standing behind John waving for the first time in decades
Please put this song on the all-time Mount Rushmore of great songs...
That riff that John played at 1:58 sounded a lot like Jerry, so I'm not surprised that it took Bob by surprise..

He did us right. J-May played his part and honored the legacy. Well done, and if he ever gets confused…just listen to the music play
Agreed. John carried the torch well and with great respect. He kept the music alive.
Bob looked like he was staring at a ghost! Spooky, made my hair stand up

The chemistry these guys have is awesome. Love watching John and Jeff interact and mimic each other. Fantastic music....!!!!!
This song will live forever.......
Like awl of us. )
Its such an anthem for being as responsible, humble , forgiving, and kind as possible.
Indeed….
A beautiful rendition of the finest GD song ever. Jerry would be so proud.
Hearing the voices sharing this magnificent memory? Priceless doesn’t even begin to express the joy!

Nothing better than this
I love this song.
I used to wonder if I could possibly accept John Mayer in this band, filling these very huge shoes. Turns out, yes. By all means.
I was skeptical at first too but was pleasantly surprised.

It works because he’s the first person that didn’t even try to fill those shoes. He just wore his own shoes while honoring the music and it’s legacy.
I was thinking the same...till I heard him jam
Never. Ever.
I love that Bobby’s taken the vocal lead on this one…

As usual from Patti Cornell
Why does Bobby always sing Jerry's tunes why don't you let John sing them
I used to feel the same way. But I now feel that Bob earned the right to carry on the legacy. John's time will come....
As long as mayer doesn't sing this I'm ok with it
