One of my favorite Dead songs. Every so often when, when the world seems like its just spins faster and faster, I slow it down with some tunes from the dead. This is for you reading this comment right now. Sit back and enjoy. Cheers!
My boyfriend took me to see Dead and Co this past weekend in Vegas at The Sphere, and it was truly a remarkable experience I'll treasure the rest of my life. We saw them two nights in a row, and I hope I see them again in the future! (I'm a new fan. My partner is a decades long dead head).. this is also one of my favorites, if not my absolute favorite, as well.
I love John Mayer's voice. He brings some of the same plaintiveness that Jerry brought to the table. And, btw, Bob Weir is highly underrated IMHO. His carefully placed rhythm guitar licks have always provided the foundation on which Jerry & John Mayer have soared. And yes, it's NOT the Grateful Dead, but it's pretty damn close and beautiful nevertheless.
I love bobby ive seen him over 150 times after.jery passed but the one guy that competez with weir especially when you throw in the voice is dave mathews
Sometimes u couldn’t hear Jerry as well as John but Jerry was full of emotion & he really was a hurting man all his life but music made it better but thank god John took his place & does his own thing by not trying to b Jerry ! Much respect to John Mayer ! ❤❤❤❤
Maybe its the band and stage that tied the rug together... No, really. Mayer is one hell of a weaver. You should see the doily that he knitted my grandmother...
John Mayer does not get the recognition he deserves.... Bob weir is fantastic but John is amazing here. I love jerry but John is a sublime alternative. Who thought we would be enjoying GD music in 2019!!! Just be "grateful"
I must admit , after Jerry passed .. it was a Spot that could Never be filled.. but John Mayer has the most Amazing Perfect fit in the Band .. Really Cool , and has the Touch .. I think Jerry would Highly approve ..
I grew up with a novice knowledge of the Dead, based on my Skeletons in the Closet Greatest Hits CD. It wasn’t until JM joined and started playing the tunes that true Dead fans love and revere, and I never even heard before, that I fell in live with those deeper cuts. Turns out that my three favorite songs have sprung from this newfound devotion brought on my John, Jeff and Otiel: Terrapin, Eyes of the World and this beauty. Thank you, John Mayer!
Mayer is doing some cool stuff here...i like that hes approaching the solos like Jerry but still making it his (Mayer's). Thanks for sharing...i like that Jerry will approach the first solo one way and then use other techniques for the second and other rounds...Mayer is showing his stuff like that too
JM has received criticism from some Deadheads in comparison to Garcia. Jerry will always be the man and foundation of the band. His style and contribution will never be able to be replicated evidently, yet I believe Dead and Co should be embraced, especially for today’s audience. I’m from Australia and the Dead craze never really caught on here. It wasn’t until I studied in the States that someone introduced me, but I never took to the Dead until I got back home. Now I’d love to see Dead & Co in concert as a nod to the culture that the band has produced and for a live appreciation for the genius of Jerry Garcia. This said, I believe Mayer is a masterclass guitarist and should be appreciated for his influence to modern guitarists. I’ve met a few American Cali immigrants here in Australia and the first thing I ask is a Grateful Dead story. One spoke about that the band had a thing where a giant inflatable house would land in the middle of the car park before a show to trip everyone out? Can anyone confirm that? I hope to make it over for the summer shows 🌹💀🧸
Gone are the days when the ox fall down, Take up the yoke and plow the fields around. Gone are the days when the ladies said' "Please, Gentle Jack Jones won't you come to me." No doubt John Mayer is seriously talented. I think he has stepped in and showed courage. Please please dont ever suggest that he has taken a Jerry song and made it better? That is actually quite absurd
@@JackHawk78 It's not a suggestion, it's an opinion. If something sounds better to your ears then that's simply how it is. Nothing absurd about it and nothing to argue about.
I love John’s pants ! They r so together now ! I just love it long live the Dead ! ❤️🐰🌹🐇☮️❤️❤️🔥💥😱😵💫🥰👿👹🧛♂️happy Halloween everybody when it gets here !
One in-ear in one out is the way to go. Sometimes if I'm comfortable I take em both out cuz you dont get the same feel with in-ears as just open. There's a certain raw connection that only comes when your ear has direct contact with the space around you.
The band, with John Mayer HAS gotten tighter over the years 😊❤🎉and I will see them as long as they play together.....Why don't DEAD & CO. release VIDEO/ DVD 'S of the year's they have toured ?? I would love to own the shows I took in over the years, anyone have any answers ?
I've been learning this song for my band, and I've been studying various Grateful Dead versions from all eras. Then I figured "Hey lets see what John does in this..." so i come here, and the tempo is like 20 bpm slower hahaha. Too funny. Such a different feel.
John's voice really adds a certain warmth to this song. And boy that guitar solo...
Yupp!

Oh yes he did. I don't know who you have been talking to. He's been getting all kinds of recognition. Holy cow.
I was there for this show, about 8 rows back on Jeff's side. What a great night.
John Mayer + the Dead seems the making of two destinies fulfilled. What a blessing for them and for us. Gotta' love it! 🙏🏼❤🔥

I think Bobby is probably the best rhythm player I've ever seen, and I've seen a few...
@@bloomz1 How do you assess that?
@@pawelzabicki7785 Just seen a shitload of guitar players....
@@bloomz1 you are quite correct Bobby has always been over shadowed and lost in the shuffle or overlooked

Load bearing rug?
You know, thats just.. like your opinion man
It also helps prevent them from being electrocuted.

I am very grateful!
terryhavard1 I agree and I took a ton of shit when I expressed that opinion. This is without a doubt the best band there ever was.
So wrong. Mayer sucks
Well they chose him, they kept him, so I guess we're stuck with him. He's really good but still not seeing the fit. Gimme Trey or Warren any day.
Oh come on. Not that it's bad - I'll surely go see them again, but best ever? Better check the Europe '72 version. No intrusive funk-bass either.
I must admit , after Jerry passed .. it was a Spot that could Never be filled.. but John Mayer has the most Amazing Perfect fit in the Band .. Really Cool , and has the Touch .. I think Jerry would Highly approve ..
i love how no one is recording, everyones grooving
Excited for Mayer to bridge the generations. Some of the best songs would pass away in sorts. Keep it goin.

The most under rated member of the band. Neither he nor Jeff are featured enough.
SO much better than before!
Us older hippies can still kick it listening to this out in the bush a little trip its all good love it

Fantastic music from the band. JM and Jeff are killing it
Omgggg I can’t wait going to see these guys August 28th at Hershey Stadium!!!! Excited much!!!!

that little lyrical guitar lick at 2:27 , awesome.
Amazing work from Oteil on this one
That PRS is a beauty!

Mayer is rocking an AP Concept. Is there nothing that man can't have?
I could watch the drummers all day
Bought this cd on nugs favorite dead and company show. The set is out of this world

Matthew Lawton looks like other members of the actual band disagree with you. Must be a shame for you to be so wrong.

You should check the one they did on Fallon if you haven't yet; that one is faster. You're right though! Very different feel at this tempo
That version is so good when I first heard it I had to rip it to MP3 to put on my phone.
the version from Boulder in 2017 is great if you can find it.
Tyler Murrel yes it was great.
I'm going back to Boulder to see Dead and Company this July.
Then you should know your rhythm section determines the tempo.
