Great video. I almost watched the movie, but I pretty much always check reviews before watching movies these days, (specifically checking those with the opposite opinion to the common consensus. So if the score is high I check the negative reviews first and vice versa) and I noped out as soon as a MAL reviewer, thankfully, revealed the grooming. The summary mentioned no such thing, so I'm grateful to the reviewer. Man this movie could have been so good. If it'd just been about Takao's(?) journey to become a shoe maker I would have been sold. The visuals do indeed look stunning, but I think I'll just stick to Your Name for a similar art experience. Not a perfect movie either, but overall still really good and the romance isn't toxic af.
Anyway this was video was really informative and well said. :)

this was a really good video! i felt the same as you did watching the movie both the first and the second time. the visuals captivate me but now i see that it was not letting me see how shallow and kinda creepy the story truly is.
would love to see more videos like this!

Garden of words is my favorite movie since years. I really like art and rain and it's just a perfect movie reflecting both. And it's just a 45 min movie. I don't know why this movie isn't recognized much but it should definitely be more popular.

Also that girl was definately telling the truth! God I wish she'd been the second protagonist instead. (If there had to be one.)

I think the best depiction of love was *_Your Name_* & even though they spend time together in *_Suzume_* it's his least romantic film in years, I'd classify it as an adventure

The novel has all the details but was written after the movie was made. In my opinion the way the novel is written is how the movie should’ve been made.

yea i always thought the teacher proving those rumors right by getting with the mc was a big plot hole that doesnt make sense. i think the story couldve been in a college setting n still work the same without the weird implications of the original setup, the teacher would still get in trouble for getting with students

all this time i forced myself to think that i should like makoto shinkais animes since everybody likes them, and i'm just trying to be like "i'm not like other girls" by not liking them and that there are no reasons not to like them all the while i kept asking myself what the hell the story was, the motivation, the point etc. with every movie of him that i watched due to hype and the beautiful animation. i always felt like the animation was distracting me and that there was no real memorable story like studio ghibli for example, cause i'd always ask myself what the hell did i just watched, what was the story about again?

The novel had a lot more detail that brought it together in my opinion. They should’ve animated it with those details.
