the end of this song is better than sex
not that i would know since im a post punk fan

Damn, I didn't expect anything to hit that hard...
Amazing
true.
Just go to the gym, get better clothes and haircut, don't forget about hygiene. Leave post-punk out of this.
i've listened to sunglasses and athens france so many damn times this is surreal to have something new
I grinded sunglasses and basketball shoes and now it feels strange venturing into the other songs that I haven't listened to thousands of times already
they're looking for the american football house but they're lost because they're british so they're in decatur instead of urbana, where they ask some people where it is and none of the people have any idea what these lads are talking about
They found it in the Track X video!

It’s MY mental breakdown and I get to choose the music
The ending is like post-punk’s version of a hardcore breakdown. Absolutely sublime anxiety.
it’s like slint for theatre kids
this and black midi
Slint for rich kids.
I've noticed ever since daughters ywgwyw I've developed a thing for anxious, harrowing music with steady/tight instrumentation (especially the rhythm parts)

best comment, very true.
This track is about the most scariest, dark, and unworldly masterpiece of music I have ever heard in my entire life. It's like a modernized Phantom of the Opera on a whole new level...
that ending fucking bangs holy shit
I met her accidentally
It was at the Cambridge Science Fair
And she was so impressed
I could make so many things
Catch on fire
But I was just covered in bubbles of methane gas
And you ended up burnt
I am sorry
I have always been a liar
Just to think I could've left the fair with my dignity intact
And fled from the stage with the world's second best Slint tribute act
OK today I hide away
But tomorrow I take the reins
Still living with my mother
As I move from one micro influencer to another

What are you on tonight?
I love this city
Despite the burden of preferences
What a time to be alive
Oh, I know where I'm going
It's Black Country out there
I saw you undressing
It was at the Cirque Du Soleil
And it was such an intimate performance
I swear to god you looked right at me
And let a silk red ribbon fall between your hands
But as I slowly sobered
I felt the rubbing of shoulders
I smelt the sweat and the children crying
I was just one among crowded stands
And still with sticky hands
I bolted through the gallery
With Cola stains on my best white shirt
And nothing to lose
Oh, I was born to run
It's Black Country out there

i could'nt have had a better introduction to post punk rock. i literally have goosebumps by the end of this song.
Good morning, captain
This is incredibly unsettling and I really like it. It's showing normality while demonstrating musical insanity. I think it's doing this to demonstrate that no matter what's going on in the protagonist's mind, no matter how he feels, life keeps going, and it repeats. Ironically, this song doesn't have the repetition of a normally phrased song. As Adam Neely said, "repetition legitimizes" and this doesn't have that feel at all.
Adam Neely said what?

Trueeeee
Very, very accurate
Holy Christ. I’m on maybe my tenth spin of this track and I’m absolutely gobsmacked. It’s a warbly, nervous, confessional tale, creaking along mysteriously, shot through with crumbs of humor, leading to a triumphant, thoroughly satisfying climax. Wow. Bravo.
"Science Fair" debuted on the New Alternative 40 Chart this week!
I can't think of anything bad in this album its so great and experimental that i love it
this is huge. we are witnessing history right now
The post-punk scene has been nothing but great so far... Idles, Shame, Black Midi, Sorry, Fontaines D.C, Protomartyr, Iceage, Parquet Courts, Guerrilla Toss, SQUID, Shopping, Viagra Boys, Ought... and now BCNR...2021 is going to be a great year
Edit: I KNOW THIS IS A BCNR MUSIC VIDEO BUT HOLY SHIT THAT NEW SQUID SINGLE
And Tropical Fuck Storm too
Don't forget The Murder Capital and Girl Band

Was so hyped from that line I made a sign that said “BL@CK CNTRY” and hung it on my wall
It's so unusual (and incredible) to listen to a studio track from BCNR that is not Sunglasses or Athen's, France. AOTY 2021 is coming
Today is a very very very very very very very very good day
This is the best thing I have heard in fucking years.
Loving the Slint/Swans feels with Jeffrey Lewis/Mark Kozelek stream-of-consciousness lyrics layered on top.
i see slint but swans?
If anything, Swans are very lush. These guys have been dry af so far
this band is doing something that icant seem to remenber finding in other music, not with this receipt and mastery . the saxs use the spy trop to bring the existential dreadd associated to the cold war, like there is a destructive background of daily life, lyrics a la post modern, self referential and big in scope

(the constrast between simple life in a small town with the gigantic and overwhelming and anxiety inducing world of the internet, and the reference to the insdustrial revolution and how it reaped the earth and much of the ground that hold us together as a culture iin the ords Black country out there, just imagine a landscape destoryed by industrialization and thats what the digital revolution is doing to our minds, very smart, very iinsightful)
Harsh and disorienting instrumental with transitions that really glue you to the structure of the song.
i would find this music to have a hard time appealing to a wider audience 10 years ago. thats what got me to relisten to this until i felt i understood what it meant and what was the initial feeling that i couldnt quite grasp at first listen. when you have knowledge of culture, deep sensibility to the world around you, musical talent you can make art that slashes trough the listeners brains, you dont need to understand it to feel it but surely adds to the experience having a more eloquent grasp, the music rewards several hearings for it.
great stuff!!
the last ~minute of this song rips my brain apart in the most incredible way
Vocalist reminds me so much of Jamie Stewart, this is amazing...
damn i am loving their songs i just cant imagine playing this on our soundbox i know how my mom will react when she hears this but heck yes i love it
Holy crap I somehow recognized this as Oswego before even reading the description.
I just wanted these last two minutes to last at least 15! Amazing intensity!

Just now discovered my new favorite band!
2021 has already become infinitely better because of their album announcement.
I live in the small town a lot of the footage was shot in, It's SO FUCKY to watch this, I was shitting myself when I kept seeing houses I recognize. Why was this shot in Oswego of all places?
Oh, sweet relief! I thought I was having an episode.
Had the same experience. "Wow, they did a good job of finding an average American town, this could be - YOOO NO WAY!"
I'm totally getting caught up in the hype of this release. Can't wait to hear the whole album!
they’re meant for great things

god this is so fucking good. you folks are really something special. going to insta-cop the album. also i gotta say it's really refreshing discovering that a band i love has good gender balance for once
Like back in the 90s ... I'm that old! It what makes a guitar band ace. My Bloody Valentine a good example. Or even the power of Kim in the Pixies. Or Kim in Sonic Youth.

Listening to this song feels like trying to shove a grater up my ass.
My head hurts and I'm gonna have a panic attack.
Maybe I'm too stupid to appreciate this.
Wow. Their sound is like the result of Jack White, Talking Heads and a Klezmer band having a gifted baby with Weird Al Yankovic providing the sperm. Let this track be your gateway to their sound. They are far too young to be this good.
a little bit of sonic youth too!
