The mix on this version is perfect. I also think the restraint in his voice is so well done, until near the end where he just lets it rip. This is my song of the year so far.

I’ve had the album on vinyl for about a week now. Didn’t like the new version at first but it’s grown on me and I now probably prefer this vocal delivery now. Still wish the Isaac line was still in there though, that line was too good

This is like if Slint and king crimson had baby and it’s absolutely fantastic
The changes kinda remind me of joy divisons change between unknown pleasures and closer. Softer tone, less abbrassive instrumentals and more poetic lyrics. I'm just glad there's both versions. Makes it seem like a kind of night and day divide between the two in tone

I don’t think this is about comparing, both the old version and this one have their own pros and cons, it’s not about which one is better, it’s just about enjoying.

This version is leaps and bounds better than the original. That sludgy guitar intro is stunning and introduces the first main riff in a really heavy, anticipatory way
It’s funny how many describe this as Post-Punk because as an outsider and a prog lover I mostly see it as prog or art rock

on the whole i definitely prefer the original version, but i think in terms of the album this is a much better fit. the album has a lot more delay-release stuff going on and the reworking of this track really fits that

Anyone else think the singer kinda sounds like Jamie Stewart at points?
Especially when he sings that "I am so ignorant now" line, he sounds surprisingly similar.

did isaac just really wanna sing on this track now? i get that they're likely burned out from performing this track to death for 2+ years and wanna spice things up for the recording, but the monotone delivery is what made the track special IMO. fuzzy intro was great, though. i'm sure this will grow on me.

It ties into the previous line about Sertraline. One of the main side effects of Sertraline is loss of libido, so “leave your Sertraline in the cabinet, and fuck me like you mean it this time Issac” carries much more venom than the new lyrics.
