Solid Set Waves Approach Ocean Beach, Surfer Attempts to Paddle Out in heavy surf gets DENIED

January 12th, 2022 was a great day to be a surfer at Ocean Beach in San Francisco, CA. The surf was firing and by the afternoon there was only 2 guys out in the lineup while perfect waves went unridden. A surfer attempted to paddle out into the pumping surf and could not make it out. This video portrays how easy and inviting it may look to paddle out at Ocean Beach but in reality it can be impossible at times.

I use to long board this place for decades…you do your best to find a rip/channel then swim out with board in tow…it’s usually a two wave session

Jan 12th was one of the hardest times I’ve ever had getting out at the beach. Four attempts over two hours and I finally made it. Didn’t take too long to figure out why the lineup was practically empty!

If there is video footage around of a harder paddle out than Ocean Beach at size, I would love to see it. Hats off to all ya'll soldiers who try - denied or not.
