My Brother and I Surfing by the S. F. ZOO IN FEBRUARY NON STOP SETS 5 PEOPLE Out. O. B. Does have its Days . My wish dump Tons of big Rocks or Cement ( environmental safe) Then us city Surfers Would have our 7 mile Miracle.
I will never forget Dec 30th, 1989 at Ocean Beach. Super easy paddle out that resembled a calm, glassy lake in between sets and these big 6 - 10 ft swelss that looked like bumps that came out of the west and turned into A frame barrels.
Always amazed that a beach-break can hold such a massive swell without turning into a close out fest. Thanks for sharing your waves with us my friend, Semper Fidelis!
Those are some scary waves! I got sucked under when I was 7yrs old & that ocean yanked me out of my dad's grip. I've never forgotten the force & power. If the water reaches my knees, I get scared & run back onto the beach! Haha! Love watching the surfers- awesome video!
Dude huge respect out to the guys out there that day freezing water massive swell and zero clean rip to Cruze out on. I got out and paddled back in when it was 10 feet and barreling imagine the size of the pure balz on those guys
SSF in the house!!! Hey Ocean Beach is no joke! You have to be a very experienced surfer and strong swimmer to mess with this break! You always hear of some poor guy girl or kid who's drowned playing in this surf. The undertow is severe. Use extreme caution when surfing this spot! Hang 10!!!
Find the peak you want to Surf . Take a 150 yard walk , North. Then focus and head out. Straight out and The current will take You there . The Rip tide Is like no other surf spot. Cold Powerful Walls of wave. This day. There were barrels. A demanding Un crowded session. Serious Surf. Insco SFCA .
I used 8 4. 9 3. 10 4. 12ft guns in big hb. U can go bigger. My 8 4. Used at sunset bch 1986 mark foo hostel I'm 220 pounds 6 1. Stoked u out in o b gnarly from this souther
Believe it or not this is where I learned to surf. My mom worked at the VA and would drop me off a Kelly’s Cove before her 12 hour shift. I got nothing but beatings in the water for a year. Back then it was less developed and homeless guys would have campfires on the beach and no one was around. Talking 1978.
The scariest part about this place is the ridiculous paddle out. No thank you. I hate that feeling of finally making it out to the lineup and your arms are already too tired to even stroke into a wave
You need a paddle machine, ob surfers roll a big pinned out 8+ ft board that paddles 10x like a regular board, and can knife through a big whitewash (no duckdive, you just hit it face on at full speed) and then it's just a hard paddle for 15 minutes but if you dont give up you'll make it... usually. My daily board there was at least a 6'10 and I'm from Santa cruz and down there guys surf 6ft boards but you barely get your hair wet paddling out to most spots
6 minutes? what on a jetski? haha I reckon even the top guys battle for 20+ mins easily to get out. you can just tell how heavy it is and just no easy way out

A buddy of mine once said, "unless you really enjoy paddling, I'd skip the first two waves of any set at Ocean Beach if I were you."

I can see that this place is good when it's big. How about when it's small? Any fun small days here or big wave spot only?
Check out other vids on this channel he has good footage of smaller days
Yesterday was like peeling shoulder high barrels
Often blown out with onshores...Fall and Winter are good
Superb, how big?, 12'
Paddle game strong

Felt a little undergunned on my 8'3 this day! Period was 19 seconds and the swells were thick and moving very fast. Went home and ordered a 9'0!
Epic!

Anyone who even tried to make the paddle on this day has my respect. I took 1 look and said no way in hell

One dude was getting towed in, not something you expect to see in California
True and especially at ocean beach
corey lopez
cheating! I see a ski!
Haha yea first for me there I've never seen tow attempts at OB
whats the average time to paddle out on a day like this? 6 minutes? just hop in the channel and let the rip get you out?
what channel? lol
Lol
6 minutes? what on a jetski? haha I reckon even the top guys battle for 20+ mins easily to get out. you can just tell how heavy it is and just no easy way out
6 minutes would be a miraculous paddle out. It can take ten minutes on a chest high day sometimes.
