Deep Purple Pioneers of Rock Music was formed in 1968 in Hertford, England, UK. I immediately bought the first record and waited with excitement for the next, because I realized that it was the perfect Rock symphony group, but I also know that it will never be the same because they lack the best, Ritchie Blackmore (guitar), and Jon Lord (organ), who has died, very sad !!!
Man!! Not only Jon Lord… Ritchie can play that darn thing like no one else. Add in the genius of Paicey and Roger and you have masterpiece written all over it. Gillans vocals were still good around this time.
Never heard this version before. Absolutely Outstanding! Apparently, being in the Rock n Roll hall of fame means nothing, cuz these guys aren't in it!! They should be in if this was the only tune they ever did!
Well, only two of these guys are in. This was a too-fast cover of a great song, too fast to allow any of these outstanding musicians to do anything but play fast (and Jesus ... why were the drums so loud? - great drumming - but overwhelmed the mix).
As amazing a drum solo as I've heard. His playing is ALWAYS clean and drives the band perfectly. Clearly, the band recognized just how "on" he was for this solo, as they finished the song - applauding him. A lot of folks have a couple other drummers ahead of Ian as all time rock greats. Bonham has the innovative rhythms and absolute monster attacks, Peart plays in a prog rock band so has a platform that features intricate drumming on the regular, and then there's Paice ... IMO the Buddy Rich of the rock era (he has ALL the skills, and knows how to use them). All three different - all equally great in my book.

In 1.04....ritchie fails.. But it does not matter.. Its like a challenge between Ian gilan and ritchie but... They're great.... Pace one of the most drummer in a whole world... And the keyboards and bass.. From the other world... How I love these guys... Thanks purple... Infinitive thanks... Wonderful.
