No other band is sounding like Deep Purple. It’s simply impossible to duplicate Gillan’s voice, Blackmore’s guitar tone, Lord’s Bach-like playing, Glover’s clever bass lines and of course Ian Paice’s brilliant drumming. What a band. What a f*ckin’ band. Best band ever!
Agree 1000% MG. Been a fan since 1968. I always thought they better than Zep on all levels. More prolific too, 22 original lps....Bonham was great but Paice is another level, as with the rest of the group. Lord was a gem , Gillan is better than Plant & Glover was always rock solid.....

I like house of blue light and knocking at your 9 back door albums live versions better. There are earlier than this 1. Ian Gillian doesn't look too good here. I don't know Y he wears that sleeveless giddy up. So um.... unbecoming .
But the problem was Ritchie never liked working with Gillan . To be fair he was right about him , he was always losing his voice , and drinking . But have to admit they had a great musical chemistry .

I just hate that Ritchie Blackmore never gets the recognition he deserves. Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck, (Whom I also love) They get a lot of credit and recognition, but Blackmore for sure deserves at least the same. People need to talk more about the super talent that is Ritchie Blackmore.
Took me many years to learn how to enjoy Deep Purple with Morse. I always thought that he is a great musician, but I always thought that he had only one problem. He was NOT Blackmore. Seeing this, I remembered why I thought that. Today I really enjoy Purple with Morse, but Ritchie is unique. No one can replace him properly.
Watched this dvd & especially this song many many times, never got bored & always had goosebumps. I don’t care about the reasons of Ritchie’s & Ian’s fights, as I don’t even stand with any of them, but always wished Blackmore never left. Although Morse did a great job & I do love his era songs, but Ritchie was & always will be the real sound of Deep Purple🤘🏼

The older I get the more I realize how far ahead Blackmore is from all the rest of the clowns that are trying to replicate him , one of them is malmsteen,a good fast guitarist but lucks the feel and intelligence that Blackmore has. Blackmore is simply untouchable!! And in my opinion probably the greatest rock guitarist ever lived.
He is melodically intricate like no other. Deep purple at their best are,were sublime.Unsurpassed!Over the last years Alter Bridge are a very competent,listenable Hard Rock group.
No instrument is subordinate to other in their music. Each stands out and still in perfect harmony. They made so many songs and almost all of them are hit piece.

I have to say, I think Jon, Rog and Paicey did a helluva job holding it all together that night. I saw the whole dvd, interviews, etc, and it was a hell of a bad night apparently with Ritchie. Ian's drums were thunderous and he nailed the gig to the floor.

I watched a few vaunted covers of this song before I came here and I can say that Gillan, even with voice problems, is incredible - he proves that singing is not only a voice (although he had a voice that no one had), but also the attitude - he's just a purebred hard rock singer.
Don't care what the critics have to say. "Battle Rages On" is an underrated Deep Purple classic

В группе два лидера с очень.непростыми характерами-'это жизнь , один овен, второй лев.И каждый -иногда " чудит".Тем более, что Блэкмору присуще идти только вперед, развиваться, экспериментировать.Ему скучно топтаться на месте.Поэтому они в последние годы время от времени собирались "дабы вспомнить прошлое" как говорит Ричи.

Saw Purple in 72 Long Island Arena as a 15 yr old blew my mind. Then again for Burn and Perfect Strangers.
I have to say, I think Jon, Rog and Paicey did a helluva job holding it all together that night. I saw the whole dvd, interviews, etc, and it was a hell of a bad night apparently with Ritchie. Ian's drums were thunderous and he nailed the gig to the floor.

I watched a few vaunted covers of this song before I came here and I can say that Gillan, even with voice problems, is incredible - he proves that singing is not only a voice (although he had a voice that no one had), but also the attitude - he's just a purebred hard rock singer.
