My daughter sailed to the Caribbean when she was 20 (2017) with my step-father. They spent about 6 months sailing. It was the trip of a lifetime. He did the same trip with my oldest son a few years before that. He passed away in 2019, he was known by the name Captain Fast Phil. He retired over 20 years ago after a liver transplant and lived out his dreams, he was a great man. These videos remind me of his trips.
Thanks so much for the video! I live in Kaneohe and have a sailboat at the small boat harbor there, I'm planning on doing a sail to Honolulu and back soon, your video was very helpful Mahalo!
what you do is amazing, please never stop taking us along on your journeys. my father did a lot of sailing throughout his life and he shared so much of that with me. he unfortunately and sadly has passed but he was always on a boat, with a crew or friends on another boat, fixing a boat, making a whole new boat, etc. he took me and my brother out many many times as well as my mother my mother before i was even born. he did lots of long distance sailing, from new orleans to the florida keys just an example. i’m lucky enough to have one of his boat log books, i can read what the weather was, the location, everything. being out on the water is so fulfilling and freeing
Thank you for this comment 🙏🏻 I am glad the episodes bring back great memories for you, memories are so very important after we lose a parent. I will be sharing for years to come.
I never miss a video. Keep up the journey. Your video editing is really good, the videos along with the music...... make it even better. I'll continue to follow you and help when i can. Stay safe my friend.
Next time clip a trip line to the roll over bar after you have set the anchor. Keep it loose. When you leave, pull the trip line in from the bow to reverse the anchor while drifting back or motoring into deeper water. Pull up the anchor and you are good to go. No need to get back in the water or get assistance. Far safer with less risk of the boat drifting away with you swimming after it. Don't ask how I know.
Thanks for sharing James simply amazing! I have a question when you docked there do you just take an open docking area or need to make prior arrangement to dock? Thanks again and take care !
I explored all of Oahu’s anchorages with a temporary repair, waiting for my haul out now for the final fix, there is a months long wait list to get hauled out
I know that you referenced going to an electric drive motor earlier in your series, I am very interested in the details of that, and if you will be able to charge the batteries with wind, solar, or regenerative prop, BTW I don't even know if regenerative charging with a prop is a thing, but Electric bicycles can charge that way with the addition of a braking force function.
@@SailorJames Ah I see. My mistake. I was just intrigued, it may have been my imagination. I was wondering how that would work in a pinch or unsupported.. Sorry Man.
@@SailorJames I imagine so, I visited the new Greenpeace ship the "rainbow warrior 3" in Baltimore harbor jeez maybe 10 year ago and was interested in their emergency diesel generators which I was allowed to see. Amazing ship, That!

Just watch the weather and try and come back to Kbay when the trades are slack and you will have a great trip !
If you see a Shiba dog there, it’s mine, born on Maui and living the life in Kaneohe now with her mom and pop! Sail on ….
👍 WOW, Nice to see Kane'ohe & its bay again and the Sanpan channel seen nearly 40 years ago. And, the channel was shallow then, too!

he actually put me through two full summers of sail camp, so i’d know how to sail, rig boats, etc.

Yeah that’s how CY said he has done it in the past
It's kind of shocking how deceptively deep the water looks in that bay from your boat!
Sweet action air2 s army out

There is no open dock area, they had assigned me this spot each time I arrived and it will still open so I tied up there
Hi, I worked at a uk marina. We would generally have a ‘visitors’ berth, or sometimes assign one of the empty berths for visitors.
Did the journey the other way in an Outrigger canoe.
Come to Kauai❤️
"What's regret Daddy?" "Well Son, all I can say is that it's better to regret something you've done, than something you haven't done."
hey Brother,
just curious but did you ever get your rudder taken care of?
I don't remember seeing anything more about it.
dig your travels my man! \m/

there is an old Navy Dolphin training ground that no longer exists by that Kaneohe Sand Bar!!!
How much money have you spent in the last year sailing?

I never said I was going to electric drive, I will only have a Diesel engine on my boats
@@SailorJames Ah I see. My mistake. I was just intrigued, it may have been my imagination. I was wondering how that would work in a pinch or unsupported.. Sorry Man.
Sailing Uma has been going crazy places with their electric engine but in Norway they seem to have to plug into shore power almost every night

It's interesting how the Hawaiian Islands are kind of like their own small country, due to their extreme distance from the mainland.
thanks for the meters hahaha
🇺🇸

Did someone ever told you that your videos are TOO SHORT?😖😖😖😖😖
Yes and some tell me they are too long 😂
@@SailorJames they are just fine for time-if you ask me .. its not like your doing anything really special .. just sayin...
YOU HAVE AN EVIL SPIRIT LIVING IN YOU.
