talking with us - outside of a boat issue - LOVE YA Dude - stay safe ..
Aloha James,
Thanks for your total honesty about how you managed your visit. Corruption is huge here. Ego is the biggest issue, no matter what the situation.
I have said before. Your portrayal of these beautiful islands has been fantastic. Mahalo for the respect and appreciation you have given.
Stay safe and Alooooha,
Cheehoo, Tom
and no different at the Airports Division.
Sailor James,
Found your channel a few days ago and I'm addicted! You're truly living life to the fullest. Keep the content coming brother. Stay Loose my man. Shaka Brah 🤙🏼

Great video! Extremely informative and gave me a real life perspective of what to expect. Thanks James, keep em comin
Love the videos as always! I don't think I could coherently talk to a camera for an hour straight, but you do so with eloquence and ease. Looking forward to the next one! Peace. ✌
Super video, I don't even sail but I really like the way you deliver information. Watched the whole thing. Thank you James.
I just visited Oahu and absolutely loved it. It must be incredible to sail into that paradise!
Thank you James! This is brilliant and very generous of you!
I’m outfitting my Dana 24 for a Pacific circumnavigation via Hawaii next summer (2023). This was super helpful. Thank you!
Absolutely 1st class post mate. we read books and listen to od comment but rarely are there videos to save to that special play list.
Such an interesting view, super helpful for boaters! Thank you so much for taking time to make this and for sharing James!
loved all the info been thinking of hitting that trip and staying for a year thank you
Super Video about all things Oahu. So very helpful. Thank you!
Excellent information thank you very much, I'm sure all the information that you just shared with everyone is extremely useful for everyone trying to sail to Hawaii
Great content james loved it from start to finish, really enjoyed it all thank you .
Thank You 🙏🏻
❤❤❤❤ this was so helpful! Thanks so much James :)
Amazing ep !!!
This is just the best cruising guide to Oahu. I've been reading cruising guides and most seem to have about the same format, a lot of information, (but general first aid info instead of how to clear into each new country?) Just are not as practical as they could be. This is pure nuts and bolts. Thanks James - can't wait to do all this in my boat. (I'll print out and tuck your pdf into my copy of Mehaffy.)
thanks for share all your wisdom and experience you are amazing, love from spain
Thank you James for this in depth awesome video!
Brilliant. Thanks.
This is so helpful! Thank you :) Always great content!
I’m planning to take my boat back to Kailua Kona (home) from Los Angeles, super appreciate the video! Probably the best guide to Hawaii harbors on RUclips :)
You're real man! keep on keepin on sailor!
Great content, thank you
Enjoyed this video
Thanks
Your a good sailor. Props to you my man.
good general rules for travelling and being a nice person
That was great,
I’ve been sailing a few times and have been taught basics by my uncle but always grew up wanting to sail the world. I’m 22 now and haven’t put any plan together and am about to move from Oregon coast to Missouri due to cost of living and school to become a travel nurse but have been doubting the path since I’ve always felt like I was born for the water
Thank you for your tips, it's super handy 🙂 e.g. it's good to know that it's cheaper hire the car from the airport stead from the town in most of Europe it's other way.
You said it. Giving respect and a chill attitude make Hawaii life go easy. Too many self entitled people go over and cause havoc for the rest of us.
I kept my boat in haleiwa harbour for a year. When i first asked for a slip the harbour master said no chance. There was a 2 year wait list. I took him a 12 pack of beer every friday after that. 6 weeks later i had a slip. Back in 1990 P.s i aint never going back.
Great information, I have a grandson in the Marine’s who’s stationed in Hawaii, he said the same thing about the locals. They don’t like any one who’s not a native person.
Thanks for all your amazing content Brother!! I've never sailed, but want to so bad!! I'm a newer Sub, but I've watched alot of your videos! Thanks for Sharing your adventures with us! God Bless and Stay Positive and Love Your Life!!
Also, what type of music do you listen too? Do you like 311, Stick Figure, and so on? Thanks Brother and talk to you soon!
Aloha SJ, A Hui Hou. Mahalo!
When I grew up the ocean equalled freedom, very much your own boss, that's what was enjoyable about it, we'd campout on the islands of Boston harbor, go anywhere without interference, too many hassles.
Fun stuff live life happy air2 s army out
Veggie dog at Hanks, nice
I will be visiting the big Island for the first time in a week. Any good snorkeling spots and hikes you would recommend? Thanks for the content.
Ho‘okena Beach Park and Hōnaunau Beach for snorkeling,
The green sand beach is neat but a longish hot hike so bring lots of water
@@SailorJames thank you Sir
Rent a kayak and snorkel Kealakekua Bay.
I luV learning about these details although I know nothing about nautical ownership and have never sailed. Thanks for your generous heart and encouragement, James! I treasure the person that you are and your strength of character. Ultimately, glad you’re ok and taking care of yourself in lieu of your recent breakup. Are you dating or rekindling with your former girlfriend? -Just curious….
Empty slips in the Ala Wai Harbor may be empty because the boat that was there is underwater now.
Slips are empty also because folks hold onto the slip after they’ve sold their boat or got a slip after years in the list and haven’t purchased a boat yet. I know folks who have rented their slips to boat owners.
That accounts for 2 slips that I know of for sure 😂
Any idea how much to moor at La Mariana? Also do they have hook ups? Didn't realize Ala Wai didn't have hook ups?!
The Ala wai does have hook ups, don’t know the current price for La Mariana
Thanks for the advice, I have not lost a F*&k thing in Hawaii. So this is not a place on list of places to visit. To each it's own.
I wish I could avoid Hawaii, and Canada to sail to Alaska.
You can just sail almost to hawaii and don’t make landfall and sail north, 5000+ miles
@@SailorJames right on James! Thanks for your response. Down wit you Mann!!

Hi James, the only real practical info you didn't include in this very helpful vid was dinghy access to shore, and water/fuel access @ Ala Wai.
Looking good for 46 guy. Whats your secret!?
🤷🏼♂️ I have been sober my whole life so that might help
Everything you are saying was true in the 60's/70's.. just not a friendly state for sailors. If you fly in and spend big $$ in hotels, restaurants, etc. The system is built around that. Sail in on your boat, and you're one step from a homeless dude dumpster diving. Just mooching the system from their pov..Too bad..
