    Great video. I spent 3 years in Makaha while stationed there in the Navy (81-84). The last beach before Kaena point is Keawaula Beach in Yokohama Bay. By far the best beach on the island. Awesome views of coast and not crowded. Glad to see you having a great time. Don’t forget to try the tako poke.😎

    That was a fun ride-along... brought back good memories. The Makapu'u lighthouse looks familiar. I flew over it, decades ago, on a tandem hang glider with local, Mike Benson. Hawaii is my favorite sandbox.

    Very nice. The island of my birth (Waimanalo). I remember going to the sandbar and being the ones there all day long. Those Kumu on the stringer are great tasting. Lots of memories sailing and diving around the island. Kaena Pt is good hike.
    How long your friends live in that hale? Several of their neighbors were family friends. Long since gone. Auwe

    • @SailingEmeraldSteel
      @SailingEmeraldSteel  Год назад +2

      As long as you pay the harbor fee and provide proof of insurance to the harbor master they aren't too fussy if you anchor outside the anchorage area. Thanks for watching!

      Very little, if any evidence on the Big Island in the forty years I have been hanging out on boats.The boat ramps at Honokahau and Keahou seem exactly the same despite the fact that the 'scientists' claim that the island is sinking over a centimeter a year. Should be underwater by now.

    I've been to Oahu, Maui, and Kauai.and Hawaii. . I'd never go back there. Too much like America..felt really unwelcome once you got off the beaten path

    • @ironhorse3497
      @ironhorse3497 Год назад +3

      Hawaii actually IS America... Sorry to disappoint.. Perhaps you would prefer Ukraine, Russia or perhaps North Korea or even Central Mexico.... Just a few suggestions... I have many more, if necessary. I actually LOVED Oahu "off the beaten path" much more so than Honolulu itself. The Pearl Harbor Museum is an ABSOLUTE must see. If, as an American, watching the drops of bunker oil still rising from the USS Arizona and realizing that 1,102 of our sailors are still entombed there aboard doesn't literally bring tears to your eyes perhaps you'd be better off in one of the aforementioned countries. Sorry to bring politics into this, guys. I just couldn't let that comment stand though. Too much like America.... My blood pressure is up... Good Lord folks, you have no idea what you have...

      I would agree with you if you went there solely to cruise but it's a good stopover for resupplying on the way from French Polynesia to the Pacific Northwest and whatever you may think, Hawaii is a beautiful place. Thanks for commenting:)
