- From the creators of Jumanji, we got one of the best spin-off movies named "Zathura" to ever exist. Is it BETTER than Jumanji? We think so, watch our video to find out why idk.

Zathura: A Space Adventure - 2005
After their father (Tim Robbins) is called into work, two young boys, Walter (Josh Hutcherson) and Danny (Jonah Bobo), are left in the care of their teenage sister, Lisa (Kristen Stewart), and told they must stay inside. Walter and Danny, who anticipate a boring day, are shocked when they begin playing Zathura, a space-themed board game, which they realize has mystical powers when their house is shot into space. With the help of an astronaut (Dax Shepard), the boys attempt to return home.

Wow
dont forget to *lick* the video
Ok
I’ll do one of those.
Both good options
I like how people complain that this movie is a ripoff of Jumaji even though both movies are based on books, both of which were written by the same dude he just wrote a book about jungle themed board game and a different one about space themed board game so if anything the author ripped off himself
Remember kids, it's not plagiarism if you copy from yourself!
It's a board game cinematic universe!
I think it's more how what happens in Zathura feels like everything that happened in Jumanji. Person trapped in the game, attacked by a scary thing that gets trapped in the house (Lion in Jumanji, robot in Zathura), being hunted by someone trying to destroy the board game (aliens, big game hunter whatever his name was). The author copying himself isn't an excuse for an adaptation to not do something different.
@@Nekufan1000000 And both have a character much older than the protagonists that played the board game and never escaped, now returning to help our child heroes. Except in Zathura, instead of just being straightforward, they decide to make it a twist that honestly didn't need to be that confusing.
@@kwasibrew8072 i liked the twist, made sense, like what if instead of some random guy it was yourself in an alternate timeline who made the wrong choice.
Can't wait for the sequel to Zathara set 30 years later with like none of the original characters and in a video game to come out
Why wish for none of the original cast? I feel like the (30th Anniversary) sequel would be the perfect place for Kristen Stewart to try and reboot her career.
True, but atleast Dwayne Johnson will be hilarious.
@@jasonkeith2832 I thought she was doing a lot recently
That still would be enjoyable
That will still amazingly be a good movie. And then a sequel to that sequel will also come out and will also shockingly be a good movie
That meteor smashing grandma's urn while the kid just nonchalantly says "grandma, noo" is the most hard-core scene in a kids movie ever.
11:34 No no! Danny didn't cheat! Walter accused him of cheating, and in pure pressure Danny said he might have done it. Walter than moves his piece back which was in fact cheating.
I have sibilings, this is a legit tactic for kids to do. Accuse the other of cheating and then do something to make it more "fair" in doing so you yourself cheat.
Edit: it could also be Walter's memory being wrong and thinking the piece was somewhere else and moved it back. Still cheating though.
Yeah, exactly
Actually Danny apologized to Walter for cheating.
So he basically gaslit him

"He's been in space for 15 years, he shouldn't look at good as he does"
In space, you age significantly slower. This is an actual fact
No gravity no wrinkles
I thought you aged slower only as long as you travel near the speed of light. Kinda like in Gunbuster.
I like that they implied he looked too young to be 24-25 bc Dax Shepard was actually 30 when this movie came out.
Nope. You misunderstood how relativity works. 😂 It's not about space, it's about speed. It's also not about age, it's about how you experience time.
@@joelandrewgibson4820It’s because wrinkles are produced by gravity, and space has none. I know exactly which concept you’re referring to and it’s the wrong one.
This feels like an accurate representation of me and my younger brother

Zathura was actually written by the same person who wrote Jumanji. Zathura is actually supposed to be Jumanji 2 since the book says the Jumanji game changes with the times to be more appealing with the space theme.

As a dad of a 6 and a 9 year old. Their dynamic is so accurate. My 9 year old over a 6 week span became a 28 year old mounted with crippling debt and a jaded world view that finds joy in taking away his little brother's happiness 😂😂😂
It’s kind of surreal seeing very young Kristen Stewart
Catch that Kid, the Disney Channel heist-like movie from 2004. When I realized that was her much much later, I questioned childhood just a bit lmao.
FUN Fact TIMEEEEEEE: the older brother was actually Peta from The hunger games.
Peta is from family guy, dumbass.
He also was the kid who wanted to get with Zooey Deschanel and because of that his friend fell into a ravine and drowned to death.
I knew he looked familiar
He is also from RV

Forget Dwane Johnson, little kids with a unused sister and one of them not sounding like their from fourth grade is better
The bullshit jumanji sequel had dwane Johnson. You know the first movie didn’t, right?
The fact that Dwayne Johnson was in the reboots with his "comedic" acting ruined the reboots entirely.
The main high point of the original was Robin Williams. And at least the first one was original much like Zathura as they were written by the same guy...
Whereas the Jumanji Reboots was nothing but cash grab for sake of nostalgia.
@@desmondcoppin591 I know but some people liked the sequel and the original
Edit: not to piss anyone off
@@TheHufflepuffSaint honestly I still find the Dwayne Johnson reboot fun, I'm not as die hard about this one 90s kids movie. I remember watching this on cartoon network a couple of times as a kid and then thinking this was just Jumanji that I was watching.
