If it hasn't been suggested yet perhaps you would be interested in an official rule Avalon Hill introduced. Characters can move 8 spaces (no role required) as long as no monsters are on the board. Definitely speeds things up. This is known as the "uninhibited movement rule" introduced in an official downloadable quest called "in to the north lands"

We have actually finished shooting (but not editing) the last few episodes so we will not be able to apply that rule, but it certainly makes sense as there is a lot of time wasted at the end rolling dice to move back to the stairway. So,etching I noticed about how you guys do the play through. You keep reshuffling the treasure deck. You should NOT RESHUFFLE the treasure deck after every draw. Here;s why - the good cards go in a discard pile (like healing potions). The wandering monsters are SPECIFICALLY supposed to be placed at the BOTTOM of the treasure deck. I you reshuffle after putting them at the bottom, they no longer are on the bottom of the deck. This makes the game much more difficult. Please consider only shuffling the treasure deck the 1 time prior to beginning the game, and no more.
Hello there. The rulebook specifically says (on page 15) that "The treasure cards must be shuffled before a hero draws one from the deck". The treasure deck is meant to get more and more dangerous as the game goes on - items and gold are left out of the deck and hazards and wandering monsters get shuffled back in.
@@AllAboardBoardgames hmmm… i might have bern interpreting that rule incorrectly this whole time. I guess i can chalk it up to a “house rule” on my end. However, Avalon Hill should’ve stated that the monster card should be “reshuffled back into the deck” instead of placed at the bottom of the deck. I guess neither way is wrong - as HeroQuest encourages home brewed rules and interpretations, when a confusing rule arrises.
@@JeffWitty Sure! There is a lot of ambiguity in the rulebook for HeroQuest so there is lots of room for house rules. The most important thing is to have fun playing, so just go with whatever works best for you and your playgroup. :-) Hope you enjoyed our videos anyway!
