- The C8 Corvette Z06 takes performance to a new level from Chevy. On the outside you will notice a wider body, forged wheels and carbon ceramic brakes. On the inside you will be greeted by a 3LZ interior with GT2 seats. Powering the Z06 is a 5.5L V8 mated to a Tremec DCT. Is the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 a BETTER super car than a 2024 C8 E-Ray?

I would have loved to have driven an E-Ray but I bought a Z06 and I absolutely love it the sound of this car, the feel of this car is amazing.
Only reason I want the Eray is for the AWD. That launch is nice but then the Z06 is just… ugh…. 😂 it’s my dream car. When the time comes I definitely have to drive both to know. Either way I don’t think I can go wrong with either imo
oh yeah. tons of cars feel like rocket ships thanks to electric motors, not many have that flat plane v8 sound and a nearly 5 digit redline
Great video Joe! We just picked up our 2024 Accelerate Yellow Z06 HTC from the National Corvette Museum two weeks ago. Just hit the 500 break in miles today! LT6 is the sound of FREEDOM!
I think I've got to go with this Z-06 over the E-Ray. I like the way the Z-06's engine revs and you make this car look like unbeatable driving fun.

@@user-rn1xk7ip9x you want break neck straight line acceleration the vette is your car. But it felt cumbersome in corners. It also rattled and creaked. The interior fit and finish wasn’t the best. I just prefer the driving experience of the 911. It’s more complete. I could use the Porsche as a daily driver and not feel like I got beat up after a long commute. At these prices you should get what you like. Both cool cars.

Out of my budget too, which is why I like following Pratt Miller’s Corvette Z06 racing team. Just saw them in Daytona and it was awesome. Their yellow livery is perfect for that Z06 body. And they’re super competitive too.
A new ZO6 came into the parking lot I was parked in, and he was revving it up, and that is an impressive sounding V8 with the flat plane crank. And yes, the ZO6 is better looking and more menacing than the standard C8nwhich I don't care for.

Wow... You just can't beat that sound! It's epic! I'd much prefer the E-Ray practicality... But, I'd still go for the Z-06. The center exhaust and the sound. Some American manufacturing whoopass we've been hoping for forever.

Joe, you bring up a valid zonk with that putrid lime/yellow break caliper option. With that beautiful red exterior color, I'd prefer matching red brake calipers. I'd also prefer the AWD ERay Stingray, not that I don't love this Z06, because I do. The wheels are great as are the Michelin Pilot Sport tires. Joe, I'm sure you are all aware of the Mecum auction taking place in Kissimmee for the past 10 days. It would be well worth your time to take in all of the absolutely magnificent automobile art that they are offering, not the least of which includes many dozens of Corvettes from 1953 - 2023. Amazing.

Kudos to GM for creating a super car ZO6 for a non super car price unlike Ferrari and other exotics.
Rumour is GM will introduce the ZR1 (Z06 + 2 Twin Turbo) for 2025
They are going for over 200k CAD here in Canada.... mark ups everywhere.
At the Kissimmee Mecum Auto auctions last week, the high bid was $170,000 on a brand new red C8 ZO6. Can't remember if reserve was or whether there was no reserve. But bidding stopped at $170,000.
U act like engine and performance is the only thing that makes a ferrari or porsche expensive. They are luxury sports cars. Unlike a Chevy corvette or dodge hellcat. The fit and finish and materials used are way higher grade
@@user-my4xu4gf1z A Ford GT is hand built with carbon fiber tub in very limited quantities unlike a mass produced Corvette. Ferrari doesn't make many vehicles in its small factory either. Ditto for McLaren and other super car companies. Those who have big bucks can buy the hand built carbon fiber super cars that often cost a million or more. However, a Z06 costs 80% less and is just as fast.

Agree totally with your statement on the brake caliper color.....
For me the E-Ray. For a guy approaching the big five-0h, the E-Ray is the GT car, and you can make fun of practically everyone at a stop sign😎A new muffler upgrade will fix the sound.

You're right, the C8 Z06 is truly a supercar. It's also my preference over anything with "E" in the name. They did copy many of the Ferrari elements in it's design, especially the new LT6 engine. What's not to like! 😎👍🏁

Overhead cam engines like this and Mustang V8 don't have a lot of low rpm pull, but sure do as you get up the rpm range all the way to high rpm. My Boxster Flat 6 really liked to pull hard in upper rpm range unlike a Fox body 5.0 that ran out of breath above 4,500 rpm.
I've seen an aftermarket company that has a product for C8 HTC's to stop wind buffeting. It attaches to the top of the windshield inside.

Buy used. These will depreciate big as the market continues to adjust back down. Also more versions. More downward pressure on prices

Great video Joe, the Z06 is awesome. Just a bit leery of the motor not lasting due to being a 5.5.L Flat-Plane Crank engine. I have 4 friends that blew their Ford GT-350 engines and the vet is even bigger from 5.2L to 5.5L.
Hey Joe, why is the price so high? Is that an ADM price? You can build the Z06 HTC ZL3 options with carbon brakes, without the Z07 package, for $140 on the website.

The Lt6 is built from the ground up to be a fpc engine. Ford just took an existing engine and added the fpc.

You are so right about that
The flat plane is nice, but no comparison for me. AWD and low end torque is where it's at. They both sound great. AWD helps immensely in many situations, including the track. I even like the e-ray looks better. Solid color works better for this body IMO. And amazingly, it even costs significantly less! I can drive the e-ray on a joy ride getaway for days, and not worry about getting stuck in bad weather in the mountains. No brainer choice. The only negative is the reduced reliability because of the complexity. But the major e-components (motor and battery) should be very reliable. Sure you'll probably want to replace the battery in 10 years or so to stay at good performance levels (I think it has an 8 yr warranty), but by then there will be a much better battery to replace it with.
Hey Joe say the rear spoiler compare on that Zo6 and measurement on the Acura NSX for the rear would probably fit and look better??
Eargasm, I wonder if VA will allow that license plate? My February 2024 build 3LZ Riptide Blue will get the Eventuri intake system to increase mid-range torque deficiency and the CC brakes. Three year wait for this machine, but the C8 has made the wait worthwhile. Nice video, thanks

I loved the eargasm comment, LOL. That is one sexy looking and sounding car for sure. Two things I just can't get over. 19 MPG highway and no manual transmission on a Z06. It's gotta be a manual for a corvette, but that's just me.

What I find odd is that after I start my z06, the redline max is much lower than the 8600 rpm, which I understand for it needs to warm up. But on the ERay you can start it and immediately drive off in stealth mode until the engine kicks in. So apparently the ERay gas motor doesn't need to warm up?
I wouldn't buy one for me but for the right price this is a great car.

I have 128 miles on my 2 day old Torch Red 3LZ HTC. It's incredible.
I need to hear a ZO6 in person. Multiple videos praise its sound but base V-8 rumble pulls at my heart strings…for now.😁 Having said that,I like the AWD/easier to consistently launch than a ZO6 especially in any kind of weather. I also like that with an E-Ray I have the option to bolt on a Lingenfelter supercharger if I choose to. Even though I reside in So Cal with it’s year round sunshine,I like having a grand tourer that can shrug off most changes in weather while exploring the US…which is my retirement plan!😁👍

What I love about corvettes is that they are actual supercars but with an "affordable" price sticker, and you can find their parts at the local Auto Zone and are affordable too. If you break something in your flimsy lamborghini you're going to pay literally and figuratively
I'd go with the Z06 anyday. That sound! If the Eray was capable of doing 50 miles on its battery, then I would probably have chosen it.
I don't like green calipers, I do love the proportions, the color, wheels, body lines and sound.
