    This has been a fun few months (for us). The workshop looks fantastic! I like the ceiling for sure. The heaters you have shown are bigger but similar to one we used at work. Worked very well at heating a spray booth that had three walls exposed to the outside; kept it nice and warm, no problem. For the wall with the windows; maybe a show & tell table for demos on new lasers and such. A dedicated place for the setup and filming of videos so as not to disrupt the rest of your business setup? Anyway, really appreciate the effort put forth by you and family and taking the time to bring us along for the ride. Thank you!

    I put RustOlium oil-based paint on my plywood floor. Wears like iron and looks great. It will take a couple of days to dry since it is oil-based. Two gallons would do your floor. A second coat is optional, it would make it better since the wood is pretty dry.

    Congratulations to and family(your faithful helpers on a job well done). Sam a thought,first and goal..don't punt. Finish the doorway/connector hall, reason #1 if the budget allows, you won't regret finishing the job #2 it will be SO much easier moving from old shop via a doorway verses hauling out the door around the old shop and up the ramp...it gets tiring all the trips. Just my observations....we aren't getting any younger. Thanks again for reading my $.02 worth.

    In the past I have mentioned a couple of things but I can see you have most of the things already thought out and don't listen to a whole lot of us. Here is one thing I will say that I would do to the shop NOW. Before you move anything in, lay down carpet. It will help sound proof the room and believe it or not, easier to keep clean. I have some in my shop and I would not have it any other way. I learned it from Stumpy Nub when he put it in his shop. A vacuum when needed is all you have to do. Helps with the temp in the shop also.

    I love your workshop and can't wait for the connection to the other one! The ceiling looks fantastic and really helps the aesthetic. It seems like it'll help with your lighting and filming. It's also very professional looking. Great Job, Sam! Please though, don't mix and match storage too much. It will look better, function better and film better if you are consistent with colors and styles. Also, please keep the walls as clear as possible so that filming and pictures aren't clumsy and chaotic looking.

    Sam, I was going to suggest you put a thin molding over those ceiling joints. Like 1/4" thick x 1" wide or so. Painted the same color. That would fix the issue and give you a bit of an artistic feel.

    Look forward to the work bench build. 👍

  • @mindbender50
    @mindbender50 11 месяцев назад

    My only advice is put wheels on your equipment till you settle on their final location because you will move things around a lot at first..
    And as for the laser engravers... I hang mine on the wall (the manageable size ones) and when I need them I have wall attached tables that open up(then pull away from the wall) and I put the laser engravers on them to do the job..
    Other than that ....Don't Sweat the small stuff!!! :)
    Oh and I also added a ceiling hoist through my attic door to lift heavy stuff when needed... using a cheap Harbor freight hoist!

    Sam I rarely ever add comments but I wanted to say congratulations on completing your shop build. I enjoyed the attention to detail that you gave the entire build. The fact that you did not skimp on materials or time to do things correctly will pay dividends as the years go by. I also enjoyed the fact that you decided to keep the ramp your son built. That ramp will speak to you every time you step into your new shop. I observed your son helped through the entire build and that says volumes about him and you and your wife about being good parents. I do have some suggestions I would like to make. Before you move everything into the new space, take the time to paint the floor. This will help in shop cleanup and appearance and is much easier to do now while the shop is empty. Second, I did not see any base trim. This is certainly not necessary but will add to the appearance. A simple 1x4 would look great. Finally, I know you addressed it in the video but the ceiling still does not come up to the standard you set for the rest of the shop. I think you could use drywall compound to patch the gaps and before it completely hardens try running a stiff brush over the patch to put a grain in the compound to match the grain in the boards. Get a matching paint to cover your repairs and the ceiling will again match your eye for detail. I do not mean to offend or in any way detract from your deserved sense of accomplishment, just my own OCD kicking in.
