Hey Sam, that Sili-Gun is the only caulk gun we used at work. And it's a pretty awesome caulk gun. BTW you didn't say anything about it in the video, so I wanted to share just in case you didn't know. In the bottom of the handle of said caulk gun, there's a silver wire to puncher the seal after you cut the tube of caulking open.. Also as you use it, once the end of the tube is sticking out the back of the caulk gun. We would always cut the end of the tube off. Just so it didn't get in the way. Just a few thoughts, can't wait to see the shop once it's complete. And thanks Sam and Angela, for the great content on SamCraft, as well as Green Acre Homestead!!
Nice one Sam. When i was young there was very little that i would attempt on my own, but as i have gotten older i have tried most things, getting things wrong along the way. Now (especially with YT video tuition) i can honestly say there's not a lot that i wouldn't try.
I prefer my Ryobi battery operated caulk gun. No need to continually squeeze a trigger, just pull it and go. It will run though about 10 tubes, before you need to change the battery.
I've seen those caulk guns and had no idea how they worked. Thanks for showing it Sam. How do you release the pressure off the tube when your done using it?
I have used that caulk for years, but there are better ones out there. This one does not stay very flexible nor is it particularly adhesive. . Everywhere I've used it, both inside and outside, there are now separations.
I like the cabinet idea with magnets so it is easy on easy off (no hinges). Could be an accent color, something really bold and bright and glossy then cover it up with decals with the color of the cabinet used as a border around each decal... just a thought-because you have to have a place for all the decals :)
Workshop is looking awesome! I'm so impressed at you building nearly every single part of this by hand yourself. Its fun following the process. Just an opinion you didn't ask for, feel free to ignore it, but the white is so bright on video that it was actually hurting my eyes, and kind of makes you look like you're pasted on top of the background, almost like green screen. Its likely too late to make a change even if you wanted to, but if you're considering a different color, maybe just a really light neutral grey? I think it would still give you plenty of light for video and be neutral.
I'm going to answer this for Sam. I haven't watched the video yet but when I painted the walls and ceiling of my shop I went with a brilliant white. With my LEDs the shop is great to do woodworking in. Unlike Sam, I intentionally didn't put windows in my shop. I know natural light is great but I wanted the security. The LEDs mimic natural light. My opinion that you didn't ask for either. :)
@@morick11 Lol! I have LED's and white walls in my dye studio, too (I dye pretty colors onto wool yarns and spinning fibers for hand spinners, knitters and crocheters), its just for the filming aspect its kind of harsh. It is really good for color matching, in general (though I personally favor black for that), though as you said, natural light is the best when I can have it.
I had a red gun that pulled the tube into the blade. It was fine for about the first 4 inches it got harder and harder to squeeze. I ended up going back to my old reliable gun. Sam the shop looks awesome!!
Sam…Looking great sir! You will be moved in soon! I start my shop build in 3 weeks I’m getting very excited . Taking lots of nots your build has me thinking of all kinds of tips and tricks for mine for sure!
I learned about silicone latex caulk from Norm Abrams on This Old House when he was working with Bob Vila. The best advice on caulking from the best.👍👍
I saw that caulk gun at HD this past weekend and was wondering. Thanks for the test! Also, you're a woodworker, make a cover and door for the electrical panel.
Sam why not build a U shaped cover that will cover the wiring? Have the sides the same size as the side of the breaker box, same width as the box and you can attach them with corner brackets, then if you ever need to remove them to run new wiring you just unscrew the brackets.
Hi Sam. I’ve used the same caulk gun for around the house tasks several times. I like the compact form and the ability to cut off the remaining used tube.
Glad you decided to include this to show that not all building is exciting, going on your past videos I really expected a clip at the end showing you watching paint dry, maybe next part you do with painting in it LOL
Sam I said the same thing that is a big workshop. Better to have room to grow and as the boys get more involved the extra space will help. Take your time do it your way.
I would put a 2x4 on either side of the electric panel (ripped to proper depth if needed) and make a floor to ceiling wire chase and then your panel door will sit flush. Trim out the chase with wood paneling and make front removalable for easy modification .
In short……no pun intended, the sub panel looks like hell. Should be mounted between the studs, code where you are must not require that. All of the wires running down the wall surface also look terrible. It would fine in a barn but in a finished purpose built shop that you’ve poured a lot of money into it looks like a poorly done half measure. That’s the first thing a person will think when they see it. You’re better than this Sam. The channel cover is a great idea but it will still look like the wall wart it is.

What was your impression of the caulking gun? I hoped you would include your thoughts about it
So any thoughts on when you will build the bifrost?
How did you like the new chalk gun ???? Did it cut the tube OK ? What do you do if you only use half a tube since it's now cut ?
White always makes things look bigger, lighter, and crispy clean. Great choice. ❤❤❤❤

Like the work shop. Nice and bright
Just curious, why would you use paneling boards in your shop, which looked great, and want to paint it???
Okay did you like the caulking gun?
Weird Caulking Gun - rather wondering what issues it solves - quicker load ? IDK???
I have to say that gun looks easier for the hands than the other type. 🇦🇺🎸⚡️🤘🏼🤘🏿💋❤️
Love your videos and enjoy watching them. May the lord bless and protect you and your family and finishing your work shop

Box in your electrical with a couple 2x4’s and a piece of your wall covering.
I walk into the big box store asking for lots of black caulk and get weird looks? Also, the “L” is silent in caulk?🤪😜
Build a closet around the electrical box. Problem solved. Bifold door or something like that.
Good job Sam. I love how you explain things. U need to teacher, in vo tech school.

No doubt, painting is a non-favorite task! You'll need sunglasses in there soon with all those lights and bright white paint!
Maybe you could build a little cabinet around the beaker box?
This is what I was thinking. Use magnets to hold it to the wall and make it easy to move if needed

Wtg Sam!!!! 🤜

Whitewall is the way to go, for color-matching.

Sam you same as me, no matter what,I half to put my finger in it,,,lol
you could just box in the wires like a fake beam
Thanks Sam ! Looks wonderful!
Man, where do you find all these crazy tools? I like it though.
Lowes has it in the paint department
Sam, any reason you roll paint vs spray paint?
Caulk and paint will make a carpenter what he aint😂
😢 I wanted to see the second coat in the time lapse 😢
Step by step…looking good 😊
did you like the caulk gun and where did you find it?
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️👍

Hi Sam Angela & boys,I like that new caulking gun.👍🏻Oh WOW! The shop is looking awesome!!!Have a great week.❤

Sure it was educational, I didn't know about that caulking gun. Is it easier to use than the old style? It looked like it might be.
Ya know? Those corners are great candidates for that caulking compound.

sam why dont you box around the panel floor to ceiling with removable face board for future access
YES! Time lapse!

And you said you couldn't paint. LOL you sure made it look awesome.
Sam I said the same thing that is a big workshop. Better to have room to grow and as the boys get more involved the extra space will help. Take your time do it your way.
Best thing about the first coat of paint, is that it lets you know where you might need more caulk. LOL
Always enjoy watching you work " double time" very exhilarating 😊. That one section would bug me too. Be interested in seeing what you do with it.
Was the price comparable with old fashioned caulk guns, because it seemed to be more accurate.
💖💖👍👍💖💖
Nice one Sam.
👍👍👍
🤗👍
a blessed build. good job! 🌟
Spray paint the wires to match your electric box. Much easier
@ 8:06 Does code allow you to have exposed Romex above the breaker panel?
I would put a 2x4 on either side of the electric panel (ripped to proper depth if needed) and make a floor to ceiling wire chase and then your panel door will sit flush. Trim out the chase with wood paneling and make front removalable for easy modification .
That was going to be my suggestion. Box it out and paint it white. Make above and below "doors" or easily removable if frequent(ish) access is wanted
Yeah I was thinking a faux column of sorts just a simple bump out with a door for access.
Love watching fast forwarding painting .....
Nice work Sam. It’s looking good. 😊
Come on let’s watch paint dry
U DA MAN!!
Good job. What are you going to put on the floor?
Nothing, it will stay as-is.
