🔷 ABOUT SAMCRAFT 🔷
Samcraft is a channel all about educating, inspiring, motivating, encouraging, and sharing the things I've learned since starting my own small business in 2018.
In today's video I show you the easy way for installing window and door trim. I install the jambs, casing, trim, and everything to finish out the three windows and my prehung exterior door.

Love your videos and enjoy watching them. May the lord bless and protect you and your family and working on the work shop
Thank you! You too!
Looking good Sam. I love the windows trimmed out and it sure is going to be a lovely workshop. We used that whiteboard as well for some trims on the outside and I painted it all and wished I had painted it with two coats. Inside it should be fine with one coat. I see you may be spending a lot of time in the shop when you get done.......it's so lovely why wouldn't you.......I sure would if my sewing room was as nice. LOL Great job.........going to be fantabulous!!!! Blessings to you all.
I hope to be in here often making products! :) The trim painted up nicely after two coats, too.
The boards between the window and the wall surface are called Jamb Extensions for the sides and top with the windowsill on the bottom. (25+ years in the architectural millwork business)
Smart to delete miters. They’re a pain in the azz.
Love the "Craftsman Inspired." I'm doing almost the same, except I'm extending the top piece to overhang about 3/8" on each side. It looks really good when caulked & painted. Also using regular primed 1x4 for all our trim. Full size for baseboard, ripped down the center for "crown" (we have lower ceilings, so it works well).
Would have been easier to build as a unit and install then you only have one joint to caulk
When are going to address that unfinished area where I believe is the big door and hall to access your other shop ??????
San, Hehehe I didn't say it.
That's for the connecting tunnel between the two workshops. It will be built after I move into this shop -- no room for construction in the old one right now. Eventually that will be a hallway going to the old shop so the two are connected.
You did good Eric! :D
Looks great 😊
oh me;;;;how about that;;;lol;;;throw it up and caulk it in;;;we used to do a lot of stained pine window trim so couldn't caulk the small cracks that occured due to framing flawss due to roughing in tolerences;;;lol;;;so I used common 16d's for tighten joints to look perfect;;;lol;;;them were the good ole days ;;;;we had to use the what we called pink studs for framing and when ya opened a bundle of studs ya had to jump back as it took a minute for them crooked fellers to settle down;;so consiquently there were flaws in the straight and true;;;so we had to adapt for the flaws and sometimes was a challenge;;;have a good one;;;enjoyed; thumbs up
For the windows you don’t add in caulk to seal the ends before you nail to ensure “crying windows” don’t flood the sill etc. obviously final caulk and paint will finish but is that enough?
My friend and I used 1x4's and made some awesome crown molding. Don't always have to get the fancy stuff!
I like doing trim with finger joint wood, pretty cheap as well, looks fantastic
Great job, Sam! Always love watching you craft.
Hi Sam could you please give us a run down on the price?
why is the top all the ways across and then the bottom is not?
Sam, do you plan on using your battery system for the shop or is it going to have seperate meter or tie into the house panel on the pole. Trim looks great
I had planned to use the BLUETTI AC500 unit in the shop as much as possible but it's been glitching out on me the last month. It will randomly turn off the AC power without any alarms, errors, or reasons. I can't have that happening while running jobs on machines or randomly to my computers. The shop is on grid for now, with the hopes of being off grid someday. HOWEVER... our home will be going off grid as much as we can in the coming months. That's a recent project that's been greenlighted and we're very excited for. :) That will be on our Green Acre Homestead channel though.
Great job Sam! 😊
Clean & simple. Nice!
Anxious to see the flooring choice.
The flooring is staying raw plywood, so... ta-da! :) It's time to put this shop to work. :)
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Finally a true easy trim instruction!! I’m a follower!!
I think you meant 4-8 footers not 8. Un less you were talking about interior and exterior! Great job as always! ✌🏼❤️🙏🏼
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

Hi Sam, I enjoy watching your videos and am always amazed at how you Americans build houses or workshops.
Good work - greetings from Germany 😀
Sam, are you going to box in those wires coming down to your power panel? The sop is looking good.
Getting closer to the finish line. Once finished my 16x28 shed build his waiting for you (lol)
Sam, I cased the windows in my house. I never ceases to amaze me how many lineal feet of lumber goes into trimming out a window! I don't think I spent as much money as you though as i used a lot of scraps from a furnature factory. By the way Sam, I am an old retired builder that has built several projects (mostly by myself) from the grading to finish and I would much rather watch your videos than anything on HGTV.
Nice!!
I am with you Sam I would it call window Casing! but I am young kid at 68. and it is trim is around the window.😀🛫
Looks great Sam ! Thank you for sharing!

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 14:1-11
King James Version
14 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?
10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.
