Virgin Voyages Valiant Lady in Marseille - Episode 2

- Join us as Virgin Voyages Valiant Lady arrives in to Marseille, France.
In this episode we start our day in The Galley, this is what Virgin Voyages call their buffet. It is a great selection of eateries offering a range of yummy dishes.
After walking off our breakfast we take the complimentary shuttle that Virgin provide in to Marseille. With no real plans, we decide to take the little transit train, "Les Petits Trains de Marseille" for a better explore.
For dinner, we bring you along to The Wake, which Virgin says: "Mixing sophistication and nostalgia with stunning views of the ship’s trail, The Wake brings a modern twist to the classic chophouses of the mid-20th century. In fact, just entering The Wake is an event in and of itself. And once you've made your way down the grand staircase, you'll enter a world that harks back to the old steakhouse, three-martini-lunch days of Madison Avenue ad men. But, thankfully, with gender equality now and, you know, no cigar smoke."
It was a delicious meal, after we spend several hours exploring the bars and the ship, before calling it a night.

Our Valiant Lady cruise started in Barcelona and we cruised to Marseille, Cannes, Palma De Majorca and Ibiza, before returning to Barcelona.

We are bananas about cruising! We started cruising in 2014 by doing a mini cruise on P&O Aurora. Making videos of our cruises and sharing our experiences has become our hobby - the complete video is filmed and edited on an iPhone. We may not be the youngest cruisers but we are trying to break the stereotype that cruising is for retired people. On a cruise you will normally find us wondering around the ship taking in the atmosphere (and working our way through the cocktails).
We have sailed on Celebrity Cruises, P&O Cruises, Cunard Line, Princess Cruises, MSC Cruises, Royal Caribbean, Virgin Voyages and Avalon Waterways. I love Marseille - I find it always gets quite a bad rep, but I spent 5 nights there after World Europa and had a great time. The Cathedral at the top of the hill is beautiful, then a walk out the other end of the city from the cruise port (down the coast) is SO nice if you get decent weather!
Yeah, so many say they don't bother getting off there! We actually enjoyed our day there - a nice little land train thingymabob! :)

Do you miss not having a buffet? No more eating a ton of one dish that you love...
Can’t say we missed the traditional buffet, you can pick as many dishes as you want. The good thing is you don’t end up with a roast, pasta and curry all on one plate like you do when browsing a normal buffet 🤣🤣🤣

@@CruiseMonkeys Yes, the shower and loo open into the cabin. Your steward could get a shock if they entered and you hadn’t heard door open 😂
It’s probably the one think that let’s Virgin down a little, hopefully they’ll offer a drinks package in the future.
My last cruise departed from Marseille and I arrived two days early as I had never visited it before. Unfortunately the weather wasn't as pleasant as it was for you and the small boat trip around the coast turned around five minutes after leaving the marina because the swell was too heavy.

Brilliant liked this vision of virgin ship over your first video making me want to book a cruise on it bur one thing stops me - no kettle in the cabin ! You may say I can get room service but I want boiling water for my morning cuppa you can only get from a boiling kettle. And without having to get dressed to answer the door . Think I would like it though other than that . I hadn’t been to Marseille before my last cruise and found it a lovely place x thanks again for your videos it cheers up a bleak November night xx
This was more our normal day, the first day is always a little crazy! Reach out to virgin on social media and ask if they provide kettles on request! Lots of cruise lines do, worth an ask! Thank you for watching, glad you enjoyed it 😀
Have not been to Marseille but will be there on my 21 day cruise on the Sun Princess in 2025.. Will be trying the little train🚢😊
Lots of of people don’t get off the ship in this port, but it’s worth a visit! Lots of lovely restaurants and bars in the area too 👍 Enjoy Sun 🥰

Depends how much you drink. Beers were around $5-6 and gin and tonics about $9 and cocktails and Wilde $10-15+, we worked out what we’d pay per day or a package and then
Purchased bar tabs. We had 4! This is the only negative with virgin is they don’t have a package so it does make budgeting difficult. They do often have bar tab offers on so that’s a good time to book 😀

Do you mean in the Galley? Yes, you could raise the flag and they’d come take your order, but we also noticed some people ordering at counters, so you can do whichever you wish 😀👍
The food looks lovely, like how you order the sides that you want, but think must be an old fa.ty now because the look of the ship does nothing for me, as I think someone else said, it looks too much Ikea and not enough luxury sparkly
