I've been studying and researching about wicca and modern witchcraft for going on 10 years now and this is as good as any modern documentary I've ever watched. It's even better because it doesn't have that forced 'wow' factor as though it were teaching non-pagans on the subject and trying to appeal to their christian ideals. :) It's very straightforward and touched on all of the main and important subjects. Sure there's PLENTY more the video could have touched upon, furthering the number of traditional paths formed in the 50s-70s, or how modern wicca has been recognized as a legal religion in some countries now, but for a brief history lesson and explanation on the subjects, this is perfect. I loved this. I'm excited to see the rest of the lessons this series has to offer :)

Today is my first day but I’ve always been spiritual and in tune , I’m not sure where to begin but I think I found a good start here , I’m going to get some books and items so I can begin my journey and start fresh
I was raised Wiccan, and sort of left it out of everyday life from high school until I turned about 26. Not because I detested it or anything, just found myself thinking of other things I guess. I still don’t identify as Wiccan, but, well, pagan. My ma passed almost 10 years ago (shortly after I took after the old beliefs again) and a favorite old crown concentrated her death which was absolutely rad. Of course some of the Abrahamic folks were appalled, but that didn’t and doesn’t confront me none. To be honest the fact that my religion or beliefs can’t exactly be defined into a label is awesome to me. Just sayin’. Dig the channel and appreciate your work. Much thanks!

A few points, corrections;
1. Alex changed his story a few times about his grandmother up to and including to be initiated he had sex with her. There is a strong feeling by many he simply used public info at the time, joined a existing coven for ideas to create his Wicca sect and his grandmother story was just a PR stunt to give him legitimacy. This is a main reason why the Gardner Wiccan's look down on his sect.
2. While you don't out right say it and left it obtuse, it should be noted there is no historical evidence to suggest the witches Gardner met at New Forest were of some unbroken line that goes back very far. Modern witchcraft, Wicca is mostly a reconstruction of what we know of General European pagans with other occult sources and imagination tossed in to fill in the blanks.
3. Your map should show India and other major Hindu countries listed, as Hindu, by definition is a Pagan religion.

The notion than Alex Sanders' grandmother initiated him into The Craft is fiction. Although he did a lot to make The Craft more accessible, especially to young people, he, like Gerald Gardner craved publicity whether it was good or bad. The best account of modern Witchcraft is "Triumph of the Moon" by Ronald Hutton which dispels many of the myths that have attached themselves to Craft history.

You skip over Crowley that predated Gardner , and jump to 1940s England to Gerald Gardner like all the other witches were asleep.
Crowley, while a contemporary of Gardner, was not a witch or into paganism or witchcraft. He was an occultist who worked with chaos magic and sex focused magic (and did a lot of drugs). He and Gardner didn't get along very well thus never spent much time together while Gardner was forming his version of British witchcraft. Also their inspirations came from different sources so assuming Crowley should be lumped in with the subject of modern witchcraft or wicca is assuming he followed these ideas or principles when he didn't. He's an important and influential figure, yes, but it's been proven already that his connection to the formation of modern witchcraft and wicca was much smaller than we all initially thought. So I think, in this case, it's okay to skip over someone who never really directly influenced the movement to begin with.

Okay we know of WitchCraft; But I wonder about Wizardry, and Sorcery, and to add I wonder if there is anyway to learn how to become either a Wizard?
Or is there anyway to learn to become a Sorcerer, and I wonder if magic-energy still existed is there anyway to learn to cast real magic spells?

I don’t understand why people keep things a secret. Like the folks who were upset about these books being published and RUclipsrs who do banishment rituals but won’t share them. Why is it preferred to hide knowledge from others rather than share it?

They wonder why the art is being LOST!! They stick to KEEPING THE SECRETS then complain when their traditions and way of life is being lost. Seems like a ridiculous way to think. Why try to keep these things to yourself? Self centered ness has never gotten people very far. Glad someone (like Frater X) are trying to save the traditions by TEACHING this to others. I’ve always despised the GATEKEEPERS!!
Frater X is an awesome teacher . Having the knowledge and being able to explain these complex concepts are two different things. He is gifted when it comes to teaching these mysteries
and the foundations many systems spring from.
I don't think its self centerdness its fear. Witchcraft even today has a negative contention on a lot of people. And its not like history has been nice or even fair to anyone who practiced it. I believe that you need to give them time and patience, encourage them to want to teach you, instead of judging them. I mean really if you could do real magic would you want the world to know? Are you not afraid of becoming some test subject for medical science or the government? Or possibly being killed because your powerful and the why is unknown? We as a race tend to destroy what we don't or can't understand.
