Great information and wow! They were amazing. I’m sure in a few years the 2 you kept pieces of will be thriving again.

Thank you for rooting for us (the orchid and me)! ☺️
I am glad you enjoyed the video, I am putting more work into them and really enjoy doing it, it’s so therapeutic for me.

Hi Kim, great video, however sad 😢! There are definitely lessons to be learnt which would hopefully prevent losing large specimen orchids in future! Thanks for sharing! Have a great Easter weekend and happy growing 😊

Thanks Mary, I definitely regret not taking actions sooner, especially the beautiful Maikai Mayumi which out of the three was my favorite. I hope the two tiny pieces will roots soon. Fingers crossed. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great weekend too!

Hi Kim what a good video! Sorry about the sick orchids but on the bright side we all have to deal with them and learn from each other😊 I have a collection of brassavola crosses and my way of dealing with them is I just mount them on slabs of wood from a seedling or 4" pot after purchasing and don't plan on doing anything until the mount is rotting then I'll remount them and I can't wait till they're all specimen size and blooming! I love ceramic mounts made with clay!! They won't rot!!😂❤

Hi Kathleen. I love the look of mounted orchids and it's a great long term solution, you are right. Watering them is such a high maintenance as you already know. Yes you are so right about learning from each other. Thanks for stopping by.

First of all, congratulations for the 1K💐👏.
So sorry about the first Cattleya you've shown us. If it were a vírus the cleaning of the roots wouldn't have helped. Vírus have no cure. Fusarium, however is a fungus and can be treated. That is, treating the plant with fungicide, the new parts of a Fusarium infected plant may grow clean. Your plant was in rather bad conditions and in my opinion you did well tossing it.
Amazing how yellow bird and Bc maikai grew so much and soon the pieces you kept for yourself will be blooming again.
I also used the mosquito net as an attempt to contain the roots inside de mesh pots but I soon gave up as the roots were still growing through the tiny holes 😅😕

Hi Fernanda! Thank you for the good wishes. I am very excited about the progress for the channel and you have been a huge part of it, with all the wonderful kind remarks and wise advice.
Regarding the virus, I was hoping to remove all the bad parts of the orchid to see if I could slow the spread. I found that the fungus Fusarium had taken the orchid too far (I think) but if the orchid had lively large pseudobulbs and only had the CyMV then I would have kept the orchid. I should have unpotted sooner. What have you had luck with for safe fusarium treatment?
Yes on the mosquito netting, I thought it would have been good to use but the tiny root tips went right through and continued to grow more roots. I've tried thin cheese cloth too and roots went right through.

@@MamasOrchids I recently tossed one of my largest Vandas. She had issues of dehydration on the leaves and every time she attempted to bloom, the spikes aborted. I finally checked and she had Fusarium. Vandas and other monopodial orchids, Phals, for instance, cannot stand a chance with such a fungus. On the contrary, infected orchids with pseudobulbs do have a chance. What Fusarium does is block the fluids that run through the plant and they starve. Fungicide shock treatment does not erradicate the problem from the back of the plant but allows new pseudobulbs to grow healthy and eventually one day we can discard the oldest part of the plant.A couple of years ago I cured an Oncidium with F by treating with two different fungicides, alternating.

@@FernandaNascimentoOrchids Ok thank you, I will look into that for the rescue orchids that I saw have Fusarium.
