I made this for me and my husband and kids last night, and it was by far the best banana bread recipe I've ever made. My older kid who usually does his best to avoid the edges of any bread loved the "crust" (specifically the pecans on top). I love you for sharing this with us.

I tried this today with some alternative ingredients as i didn't have any of the brown sugar or pecan, i used white sugar and almonds instead. Still the result was delicious, thank you jemma:)
Made this last night and what a joyous occasion this turned out to be. The crisp, crunchy pecans, full impact of banana with slight notes of cinnamon (left out the cloves). It was delicious and my fiance could not get enough of it. Fabulous.
We already ate half and I baked it two hours ago. It has been my best bake ever the topping the moistness the banana-ness this is to die for delicious. I am going to have to bake another one for others to taste This one won’t make it to another’s lips

Hey Jemma, thank's for the recipe! I used it as a base and it turned out AWESOME! But to be honest... I changed it a bit. I had overriped bananas butnot every ingredient on hand. I had no vanilla extract and no (soft) brown sugar in my house. Maybe somebody is having the same problem (soft brown sugar and vanilla extract are quiet uncommon here in good old Germany), therefore I will note my changes down. Hope that's okay! Ingredients I used: 190 g flour (type 405 / all purpose flour) 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda 1 tsp of Cinnamon 180g regular white sugar 2 big Bananas 8 g vanilla sugar 2 tsp Sugar beet syrup 1 tbsp neutral oil 2 eggs 60 g Walnuts (instead of pecans), roughly chopped About 2 tsp White sugar and 1/4 tsp cinnamon mixed for sprinkling. Sugar beet syrup is adding a sort of malty flavour. It does have a different taste than the malty flavour the brown and dark brown sugar cane sugar would add, but it is giving the bread the colour and adds an extra level to the taste. Since soft brown sugar is moister than white sugar I needed to add some extra moisture. Therefore I went with the neutral oil to add more moisture. Thank's again for that awesome recipe!

I made this today! But I mixed the plain flour and the self raising flour due to family contradictions. Haha. To make everyone happy I mixed both! But it turned out sooo goood!!! Thank you for the recipe! We all loved it! 😄😄😄

banana's are so yummy with peanut butter! i like them best when they have lots of brown spots, those are the sweetest but always left alone because people want the pretty yellow ones but those are wayyyy too starchy
Just finished watching all 77 videos in your upload playlist. Makes me feel like I'm starting to get a handle on some British-isms (Or maybe some are just Jemma-isms? Either way, it's wonderful!) Surprised to see how black your bananas are yet are still useable. I usually give up when they're only half that dark.

Made this cake with walnuts since u don't get pecans easily in India. The recipe is soo perfect. Made it twice. Made it in a 9 inch round tin though.
