Yes Matt. I’m back at Trafford golf next week to do my gapping after the lessons I had with you have improved my game big time 👍🏻
a bad tee shot is just a chance to show off on your second shot! Some of the greatest and most memorable shots of my life came after a really bad tee shot 😁
As a golfer of six months or so, I am trying to adopt this mindset right away. It is especially challenging with such a limited toolset. I committed to two root concepts: learn the game from hole outward and work with a professional instructor from the start. My goal is to break 100 this spring, then on to 90 with a solid base of skills and proper mindset. Thanks for the great video and advice, Matt.
Brilliant keep it up
You're already on the right road. Good luck
Yep. If you get the mental game under control first, it'll be way easier for you to reduce your score.
Great video Matt, Ive just joined up to the local course and started to break 90, but now I am trying to focus on and count up the duffs from the round and obviously as they drop with playing more often so will hopefully the odd double bogey get removed. hoping then as strike improves so will feel in and around the green and help the up and downs that bit more changing from 3-4 pars per round to 6-7. That’s the aim for the next 12 months anyway
Well done Matt ,you break down the game wonderfully ,know your shots ,know your ability ,,,,,,,quality tutorial 👏👏👏
Amazing video Matt, Have broken 80 a few times, decided to get lessons so it can become more regular. Definitely need to put the work in
Cheers Matt. This is the goal for next year. Had a few rounds in the low 80s this year so break 80 is the next target. Definitely dialling in yardages is a big thing for me.
Manage to get it done this season mate? 🤞🏼
Great tips! For me #2 is what I’m focusing on currently.
Just started occasionally breaking 80 this last year after 30 years of playing this game.
Great tips Matt. Thanks
Great tips there matt, will take them on board next time I'm on the course 👍 🏌♂️⛳
Final tip was the best. Ability to play is an absolute privilege!! ❤️
Finally, hard to find break 80 videos more than others. Appreciate Matt!
I know this one video will help me. Its the perfect strategy. Thanks for sharing.
Spot on with your tips and vids lately, 👌
Awesome, Matt!
Great video Matt, love that golf course
It's a beauty!
Awesome Matt. This is very helpful for me. I am more in the 70s than 80s but all of these tips will help break 70 as much as they will help break 80, 90 or 100. Thank you
I used these tips today in my round. I was behind trees more than I ever have been but I stuck to the plan, took some very bad tasting medicine and shot a 74. Thanks again Matt.
Love the line you left us with - How can you not love it. I got a chance to play golf, look at the course. its just a game enjoy it.
Before watching this video I only broke 80 once ever about two months ago. Went out today with all your amazing tips in mind and shot my second round below 80! Shot a 39 on both front and back finishing with a 78🙌🏽⛳🏌 thanks for the great vids and keep them coming mate! Also congrats on your HIO on camera!
Well done matt 👏 👍
I think developing a good sense of putting distances and getting good at holing the putt 4ft and in
That course looks amazing
Understand your game - very important , especially knowing if you are on form that day or not. If I start a round feeling tired or not on form then I will play myself in and be less ambitious. Not wrecking your score early on is important. My best golf is usually going to be between hole 3 ( I’m warmed up ) and hole 14 ( well warmed up but starting to get a bit tired ).
I set a challenge to beat 80 five times in between Aug and Dec - Ive managed it 4 times but am struggling to get the fifth one. Im going to rethink my strategy based on your tips
Cheers
Great Great Great advice! Best tip for me is the knowing your distances and playing to your strengths instead of trying to just bomb everything as far as you can.
i need to learn this hahaah
That last one hit home. Played a couple weeks ago, -1 through 3 then got a quad on 4, laughed it off, birdied 8 & 9, and ended up shooting a 78 (first time breakin 80 in a couple years) lol just gotta let it go.
That's the way to do it, hard sometimes but it's better in the end
This was something similar to what I just did....I've been playing a lot of 9 hole rounds now that it gets dark by 5. But I started off with a par, but then a 4 putt triple bogey on 2.....I managed to birdie holes 6,7 and 8 and missed a birdie on 9 by like 3 inches....finished with a 38....would have been easy to break my putter on hole 2 and just pack it in.
Quality video pal 👌
Well said
Thanks Ed
Good video Matt
Hey thanks for that Matt, my issue is I can score par but I give up after a 2 under front and on the back can score 5 over. I seem to give up and it happens a lot, strange game
Keep the ball in play, if you have a club that has a really bad miss to it then maybe leave it in the bag. I do this with my driver, i only use it on holes with a wide fairway and plenty of room to get away with my miss, most of the time my tee club is my G410 crossover 4 iron, it just finds fairways.

True got to put the work in!
Investing in crypto now should be in every wise individuals list, in some months time you'll be ecstatic with the decision you made today.
Crypto is the new gold
I wanted to trade Crypto but got discouraged by the fluctuations in price
@@disneyfan6635
That won't bother you if you trade with a professional like Mr Dave Javens
@Luca Durr
Yeah, My first investment with Mr Dave Javens earned me profit of over $25,530 US dollars, and ever since then he has been delivering
Golf is a game that rewards avoiding mistakes and does not reward taking risks too often. If you go for a risky shot then you might gain a shot but if you goes wrong then you can lose 2 or 3 shots , and for every “ glory” shot there will be 2/3 disasters.
This is what I've needed. After barely playing for years I've gotten back into golf the past 2 years. I haven't broken 80 in a long time but I am down to 82. No doubt it's coming next year.
One big one you didn’t touch in is reading the greens. Not just for putting but for chipping and pitch shots too!
Nice tips. Around the greens to me is the most important part of my game. Thanks Matt
Golfer has to be stead fast like Matt said bad shot move on , cause deep inside you know you can make the next shots good , that’s what keep us all going back out there , just one shot will make us all get back out there. Very good video.
trueeeee
Last tip is the hardest for me
Wh6 is the par 5 410 yds...
pls do one for junior pls
I am aiming for a score of 70. However, it is blocked by 80 walls every time. Practice to make a stable swing like you.
If you have a good short game, you only need to hit say 6 greens in reg to break 80
its really epic tho
If you can navigate around a course keep your game tight within 100 yards. Putting is key. Only way you are breaking 80. And some luck naturally 😅
I wish you had driven a DeLorean back to the future car to give me these tips. great as always young man
My pleasure
Very good! thought you said “ Formerly a Lady’s Golf Club “ what is it now? A Cricket Club for men?
😀😆!
Appreciated the mature approach as opposed to the "sexy" game.
Your right Matt only 48% of fairways are hit by average golfers! That’s why I play irons only Inc 1 iron off the tee. I’ve done this for 30 years. Percy Allis the pro at Ferndown GC said fear the man who doesn’t use a driver! Stay safe and lower the end result
Yep easier from the fairway than the trees
@@Mattfryergolf so why are so many high handicap players pushed to used woods that harm their game? Because that’s what pros use? Learn to play irons and then progress
I shot 71 when I was younger using only irons. I should readopt this concept lol
@@_dboy_ what did you use off the tees?
@@stuartcrane9409 it was a a shorter course, only about 6000 yds. It was where I played my home matches in high school. I had broken my driver shaft hitting a drive so I used a 4 or 5 iron off every tee for a month before I got it fixed and it was some of the best golf I've ever played. But I also swung really fast back then so I could hit a 4 iron about 250 if I killed it back then.
Whenever I play golf I always bring an extra pair of pants in case I get a hole in one.
I usually shoot in the high 70’s any hotter I don’t play.
Surprised you didn't say anything about putting, Matt. Mostly distance control.
I hear what you're saying and on the course i think, "this would be the smart play", but when i'm grabbing the club from the bag i hear myself thinking "ME SMASH!!" and get the driver =D
Haha we all do it
@@Mattfryergolf the reason i play at 22 hcp =D
I figured out how to break 70! I only play 9 holes 🤣🤣
I break 80. Are you suggesting I'm good. 😂😎👊
Step 1, play when there is little to no wind!!
Someone send this video to Rick Shields 😂
Aaaaaaa that’s why I can’t break 80. I’m not a good golfer. 😂
You can be!
And one day I will be. I am quitting cricket that I have played for 25 years and moving into playing golf a lot more. The past 4 times I have played I have broke 90. So I’m getting there.
How to break 80? Play courses that have 290 yard par 4s and 420 yard par 5s.
I think I need more than a little bit of professional advice lol
Still looking for the video that shows how bad golfers can break 80. 🤔
This messages needs to be on repeat. Way to many smart people becomes stupid entering a golf course.
You couldn't hit a 3 wood 266 down hill or downwind 😂😂😂 hack
Dont have to be a good golfer to break 80....hit fairways...have a good short game....worse score a bogey,,,don't take dumb risks
Right…. Now how to break 70 please.
Why are you playing on a ladies course Matt? 😅
This only pertains to you individually. I don't hit a 3 wood 266. Or hit a 5 iron. I use a hybrid
