Argueably one of the best of the entire series. They should have had more down to earth criminals like Zelda. That would have made it a much more superior show, and true to the comic. Five percent camp - ninety five percent drama, also this is the only ep without a fight scene. Ann Baxter was great !!!
They toned down the silliness in this episode, as if the show were being done as a more serious adventure series. The dialogue is mostly natural. The Purr-fect Crime was another example. This Zelda two-parter, according to the production numbers was the third 2-parter filmed, after the Riddler and Penguin segments.
Also, the only episode where Batman and Robin didn't know exactly who they were dealing with until Part 2. One of my favourite stories for sure; and back when they weren't sure exactly where they wanted to go with this series. Had so many actors not wanted to play Batman villains in Season 2, we may have gotten more episodes like this.
The hoods that were in the sarcophagi (7:50) and killed in the crossfire were one of the few times someone was killed in Batman. (Molly, Riddler's moll fell into the Batcave atomic pile early in the series)
This was much more intense than I remember that show as kid. But I suppose the lack of action didn’t warrant us to commit to memory over the action packed desires of youth.
The best part of this episode is when she steals all the emeralds from the store and BAtman Goes : she has stolen all the emeralds: and the store owner goes : and my customers are gone : now that is customer service , never mind the emerald's my customer are upset
@@williamhaynes4800 In the "Instant Freeze" episode, Mr. Freeze zaps one of Princess Sandra's guards with his cold gun, and any debate about its lethality is put to rest when the guard falls over with a sound effect of shattering, much to the sadistic glee of his henchmen.
Huge fan of this 60s tv show i have to do this cat woman if you pick the right door im yours, batman if you pick the wrong door you’re mine so which is it batman the lady or the tiger😊
This was surprisingly serious for this show. I wish we had more episodes like it in the show.
Back when they were still experimenting with the formula. A lot of the earlier episodes balanced it well until deciding to go full on camp.
So do I
0:53 So that's where the quote from Juno Reactor's song "Pistolero" is from!
Loved Anne Baxter as Zelda. Great episodes. Also I´m enjoyed her as Olga, queen of cossacks but those episodes was more comedic.

Nora Clavicle ( Barbara Rush ) was another episode with a fight.

This is one of my favorites
I loved Zelda's fashion sense. 🤩
I agree with you They should definitely make more Zelda the great appearances battling the dynamite dual even visiting her in prison .
I believe she returned in the comic series, but completely lacking the remorse she felt at the end of this episode.

Those henchman didn't think things through, did they? They would have shot each other no matter what.
I always really enjoyed this one shot villain episode. She was an endearing character ^.^
She Few episodes on batman 1966
She very pretty lady
Anne Baxter is sexy & very attractive
Apparently Anne Baxter was 43 in 1966.
Love Anne Baxter ❤️
A very beautiful woman, especially in The Ten Commandments. She met a tragic end.
I see Anne Baxter and I click..
Anne Baxter was Frank Lloyd Wright's granddaughter.

Anne Baxter is the person to play a Batman nemesis in two different parts. In the third season she played Olga the Bessarovian Cossack.
My favorite OG Batman nemesis
Lady’s Names Carmmls
Catwomen
Ma Parker
Zelda Great
Oga
That was probably the only time on Batman where 2 bad guys killed each other.
One of the hoods was Victor French from little house on the prairie and an officer and a gentleman only without the beard .
These 2 episodes are the only ones where someone (Victor French & another hitman) are killed in the entire series.
Seem to recall that future Bond Girl falling to her death in the Batcave's nuclear pile in episode 2 of the series...
@@CoCotheTurtle
That was Molly (Jill St. John), Riddler's moll. She accidentally fell to her death in "Smack in the Middle".
@@williamhaynes4800 So, you were wrong. At least three are killed.
@@CoCotheTurtle
That's what I said. Molly and the 2 mobster hitman who machine gunned each other in A Death Worse Han Fate.

Junro reactor pistolero brought me here
I HATE ROBBING BANKS
Pew pew pew eeeeeeheeeeee, yeaaahe heeeeeyeaa
Me too! The sound bite really works for the song!
I believe Anne Bancroft played Zolga as well as Olga, queen of the Cossacks along with Egghead. Good, entertaining episodes!
I believe you got the names mixed up. That’s Anne Baxter. Also, that’s “Zelda,” not “Zola.”
Ann Baxter💖🔥🔥🔥

Both actors were in separate episodes of columbo
Both in Season 2 in 1973. Anne Baxter played a murderer, and Jack Kruschen a victim.
