I lived in Mesa for 7 years (85 to 92).Rode my scooter up there a couple times a week. The road to the Flat is one of the most fun roads anywhere. The original Buildings burned down from a grease fire.Heard on the news it was on fire so i grabbed a couple beers, halled ass and it was still burning when i got there.Never forgot that day.I was so sad.So many great memories.Great rides.Great friends and goog times. The people who ran the place had a lease with the US Forest Service and the FS said they would not allow it to be rebuilt. That changed when thousands and thousands of people contacted the FS and the powers that be and demanded the place be rebuilt. Not only from americans but also people from around the world that had visited the Flats.People also sent money to the cause not for the rebuild but to have all there dollar bills replaced that they pinned on the walls over the years. If you are ever out there in the Phoenix area spend a day at rhe Flats and surrounding area. The desert and mountains in that part of the state is beautiful. You wont be disappointed. Peace.
Wow!!!! Thank you so much for sharing those memories with us!! It is such an amazing place and ride, so rich in history. It's one of our favorites. Take care!
Yes. I rode through the Apache trail, 10 years ago on a GS1200. It was an awesome and fun dirt road. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 😀 Gord.
Our yearly winter getaway is from Vancouver Island through Az, Nm, and Texas for 5 months. We have a hard time staying longer than 3 days at a time in any one place. A few years ago we were able to drive the full length of AZ88 all the way to 188 and the dam. There were corners of the old stage road that were so narrow that we had to fold in the mirrors when meeting another RV. Scary at the time, but left us with many great memories. Thanks for a great video.

Rode there a week ago. The road on to Roosevelt lake is fun but it is closed now due to land slide.

That was a wicked riding road!
It was amazing!! It's too bad my gopro didn't pick up my squeals of fear and delight on some of those stretches lol - Mary-Ann
Was there just a week ago on my Vstrom 650. The twisty roads are amazing to ride.

That's amazing! I'm (Mary-Ann) originally from BC 😊 What a great get away for you. Maybe we'll meet up on the road one day! Safe travels this winter!
