Really enjoyed this one! Great photos! My favourite was the misty background on the road & the bike in the foreground. Like your sense of humour and the reflections of your feelings. The GoPro POV is awesome makes it feel like you’re riding along beside you. I had a 💡 moment the other day planning hiking trips that are also on a bike trail. We are on a time limit & I realised if the kids and I bike instead of hike, technically we should get there quicker. So I went and bought myself a nothing fancy but was affordable mountain bike & currently trying to get that sorted along with the kids mountain bikes they already have. So have been watching a few of your vids to get a feel for it all with set up. Already have all the lightweight gear for hiking so that’s helped a lot. My other half thinks I’m crazy. Unfortunately he doesn’t share my love of the outdoors & adventures. When I seen the Jeep at the end I thought looked like Scotty’s car. Would be a great person to bump into in the bush!
Cheers Heather. I assume that's your name 🤣 Thanks for the kind words. Riding bikes can be a great way to cover some km's a bit quicker than walking, unless of course it's a ridiculously tough trail, I've been on a few it would be quicker walking haha. I think it's awesome you're taking your kids along for the adventure. I'm sure you're all going to love it. Even on a cheap bike it really doesn't matter. After all I do all my trips on 30 year old bikes I've fixed up, never had an issue. As for seeing Scotty out there, In 2022 I did a trip which happened to be on the same weekend he did a trip, I was meant to visit the hut he stayed at, Some of my friends cancelled on me so I changed my plans slightly, I was bummed I changed plans. A year later, this video, I head back to a different area and I had this spot marked on my GPS to park as its was at a trail head we planned to finish at. When I got there Scotty's car was there and I was so tempted to change my plans and go try and find him. I decided that may be a bit weird so I continued with my plans. I did message him and can confirm it was his car. Thanks for watching and enjoy your ride!
@@advanturest it sure is. I did have that thought that some trails would probably be quicker to walk than to try and ride, or walk and have to wheel your bike. Might be having that issue for our holiday planned in fnq for the school holidays as the tracks are currently closed due to all the rain and won’t even know if they are open until a couple of days prior to us due to leaving home. So track maintenance won’t have happened. Either way we have family up there so will find somewhere to ride the bikes. I will comment on one of Scottie’s vids for a collab with you. He eventually listened and him & Mattsy got together. I’d love to see Mattsy & Scottie out on a bike, given all the walking they usually do. Cheers for the reply!
Cheers mate. I soon as I saw it I was confident it was his, especially with the bird feathers hanging from the revision mirror. I knew he was down there that weekend so it was funny to pull up at my planned parking spot to see it there. The year earlier I did another ride down there the same weekend as him and had plans to ride to Gooandra homestead. I ended going and staying at Millers hut. When I watched his video he stayed at Gooandra. Very close to crossing paths a few times now.
Another fantastic video Tim. Been thinking about Long Plain for my next trip. Can't wait to get down and explore that area. Thanks for taking us along mate
Awesome mate, to be honest this is one of my favourite videos I've made. I just loved the scenery and hanging out on my own is so fun when filming yourself. Glad you liked it. Enjoy your ride 👍
good video, when i was in australis 25 years - when you write something like that you know you are getting old - i travelled with an aussie friend from brisbane to cairns and walked up mount warning and walked in springbrook and the misty mountains and byron bay etc.- but never more south. funny enough i am also watching a video from an australian guy walking in spain the via de la plata in actually also quite barren landscape but intermittent with olive groves and wine. good journey and i shall watch video of yours again. greetings from the eastern sea in germany
Hello from Aus, crazy to think people on the other side of the world are watching my video’s. Very cool. Im currently driving back to Sydney from 4 days in Byron bay. I was very close to doing a sunset hike up Mt Warning last night. As much as I new I’d love it I decided to spend the last night with our friends we we’re staying with. All I’ve been thinking these last few days is how I’ll have to head back and explore the area. It is beautiful up there. Cheers for watching 👍 P.S you’re not old 😃
I agree 😂 I always tell myself I don’t care what people think if they see me being weird but it doesn’t make it any easier. Glad I made the effort. Cheers 👍
Cracking video Tim. Here on the other side of the world, it's bothies rather than huts and they're few and far between. They're a great refuge in the colder months and seeing you out about on your hut hunt has convinced me to do more winter bothy missions myself.
Cheers mate, Winter missions are great. As long as there is no wind. The wind just makes things miserable. I find riding on these cool, still, winter days just perfect. I love it. What country are you watching from? Sarah and I are considering visiting Scotland and or Ireland next year and I've told her I have to take my bike. I need to go Bothy Hunting.
@@advanturest I'm in England, not far from the Welsh border. Whilst I'm sure Ireland has its own delights, Scotland is absolutely wonderful on the bike. Bothies are numerous, wild camping is legal and the scenery is some of the best in the world. If you do end up heading over, I'll happily ping you some routes.
My latest Ride was on the Mongoose but I haven’t made a video yet. I’m constantly swapping bikes 😂 This old Raleigh was pretty nice. Not much tyre clearance in the rear end though. Enjoy your ride in the PNW 👍
Cheers mate! Yeah that old red GT with the bright yellow frame bag really stands out. It’s a great subject to shoot 😂 My bike was just as old, just didn’t look like it with all the mods I’ve done too it. Doesn’t pop like the GT 😭
That video was well worth all the effort it must have taken to film and edit. Really enjoyed it. I reckon you’re right about the benefits of heading out in May, despite the wet conditions. Keep it up. 👍
Cheers mate. It's definitely an effort to film but I love playing with cameras so I quiet enjoy the process. A lot of stop starting though. When I sit back and watch it I'm always glad I made the effort. Such great memories. Thanks for watching 👍
Not sure how I happened upon this video and your channel but I love it! That looks like a beautiful place and your video is really well shot and edited. Good stuff!
Thanks mate, glad you found it 😁 I have a bit of an addiction at the moment with seeing all these Kosciuszko huts and I love playing with cameras. It’s a pretty awesome hobby and very cool people are watching my little adventures. It just makes me want to make more which gets me out in these nice places. So thanks. Welcome to the channel 😂

@@rowdywombatadventures8755 when I pulled up at the planned parking spot and his car was there. I had a day up my sleeve before meeting the others and was very tempted to go and try find him. I decided that would have been a bit weird. Now I think about it, it could have been a good video. “Hunting Scotty!” 😂
Had to laugh at camera talk and dancing. I remember Revesby Workers where we frequented for meals and then the live band. My wife a dancer posters me to dance so I went to the rest room and made a video of me dancing and sent it to her with the caption "this is why I don't dance"
G'day Tim Been incomunicardo for a while, always fantastic to see a "red" dot that you've uploaded a vid. Looks great 👍 only minus 3 for me but more than minus 10 for the snowies 🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶 Keep on keeping on mate 🏆 P.T
That is the best word I've ever seen, did you make it up or is it a real word 😂 It only got to 0 when I was there, I had my thermometer. It wasn't cold enough for me to show it in the video. Minus 3 is getting chilly. Stay warm my friend. Thanks again for the kind words.
Pinched the word from my daughter's vocabulary 😂 "incommunicado from the interwebs" is the whole. Man winter is great, camp sites empty, roads quieter and to quote a great man "no fly's or snakes"😊 Heading into Piliga in roughly a week, so incomunicardo till out🤣 With deepest gratitude for taking the time to do these videos 🏆 P.T
Hey mate, I’m away for the week so I’ll do my best to answer without looking. On the front is a Blackburn setup. I can’t remember sizes but I know the cradle and dry bag came together. I believe this is the one. www.blackburndesign.com/p/outpost-elite-bike-handlebar-roll-dry-bag/350170000100000070.html All the other yellow dry bags are sea to summit big river bags. I normally use a 25L on the back and 5L on the forks. I think I had one 9L on one fork on this trip. Rear rack I found on steet cleanup, not sure on brand. Hope that helps 👍
Cheers Mate. These are a copy of the Surly Corner Bars. The Surly bars are steel where as these Ali Express versions are apparently Carbon. So far so good.
Great video as usual Tim! How many kms would you actually ride on one of these trips?i think I’ve watched too many horror films to sleep in one of those huts by myself. So I think you’re pretty brave. 😂
It’s funny you mention horror films. Most of these huts have a handle or latch that you can access from inside and outside. That first night at Townsends Hut only had a latch on the outside. I closed the door when I went to bed but couldn’t latch it. I think I was half asleep and the door blew open. Freaked me out 😂 I ended up grabbing a chair and wedging it closed. It’s funny what goes through your head when you’re alone. As for these trips. I normally plan around the 30km’s a day. It varies though. This first day I started riding at 12.30 and only got about 10km before deciding to stay. If I’m in a group I just go with the flow and can film others crossing rivers etc rather than setting up tripods. It makes it faster and easier to cover more ground. Last weekend I did 62km on the Centenary trail in one day and that is one of my bigger days. Cheers!
Hey Tim, have you travelled the Centenary trail around Canberra? It's one of my favorite overnighters. I run a Bikepacking Club ACT and NSW on Strava if you're interested
Mate, I just did it last weekend. We did it over 3 days and stayed in accommodation so we didn’t have to carry the tents. Friday we drove down from Sydney and started mid morning. The Sunday was only 30km so we could finish early and drive home. I absolutely loved it and the weather last weekend was perfect. Well Friday and Saturday was at least. I did film a heap so hoping to put something together over the next few weeks. I use Strava to log my rides but that’s about all I do with it. What’s involved with a club on Strava?
No I didn’t, I ended up putting the brake levers all the way at the end. I then moved the shifter underneath so it wasn’t in the way of my hands. I have to move my hand to change gears but it’s fine. I quiet like jt. I put some padding in the hood part between the main bar section and then wrapped them. I later video you should see them wrapped. I think there is plenty of room for my hands. I think my Barrington tops trip is the only video I’ve made with the fully wrapped bars.
These are a copy of the Surly Corner bar from Ali Express. At first I was unsure about them and have been slowly adjusting positions. I'm at the point now that I really like them. The bike they're on is an old 90's bike and the forks have a short steerer. I've had to put on a 45 degree stem to bring the height up and now they feel great. I've moved the shifter off the parts where my hand sits so I have more hand space. this means I have to move my hand to change gears but it doesn't really bother me. I still haven't put bar tape on them yet and I think I'll like it more when I do. I actually started making a video last year about this bike but I got crook and never finished it. I plan to finish that video and talk about the bars, its probably a good thing I didn't finish it because my opinion is completely different now. Here is an article on the real Surly Corner Bars. I think I want to get a decent hard tail and run them like this guy. He extended the "hoods" which would give more space for the shifter. Hope this helps. Cheers theradavist.com/surly-corner-bar-review/

Haha, maybe in winter. This trip was a week before winter and I was hoping to get snow but we only got rain. This area is the lower part of the snowy mountains so I don’t think it gets much snow. I’m pretty keen to do a trip in the middle of winter, I’d love to get stuck in hut during a storm. Not sure why but it would make a good video 😂
Nah, never sold any. Just a hobby. Saying that I’ve thought about setting up a website with trail info and photos and or prints to be purchased. I thought I could put more effort into getting nice landscape images while I’m out on the trails. At the moment it’s just an idea. With work, editing these videos, editing photos, general life chaos, finding time to try set up a website has been difficult. I’ll never do a trip without my camera though. I love having it with me on every ride.
It was still good. Another day and I don't think so 😂 It actually held together better than I thought, I normally put bananas in my bag and they get squashed. thought I'd try on top. I'd do it again!
I just found your channel, thoroughly enjoyed the video and subscribed. Your passion for photography is event and videos are very well done, a joy to watch. You had me at the "crazy dance", as the old saying goes "dance like no one's watching", good thing to eh!
Cheers mate. Appreciate it. I definitely do love cameras 🤣Probably a little too much but its a good hobby. It lets me relive my trips over and over. I started this channel just to practice telling stories, that dancing scene was just another part of that. Playing to see what happens. Good fun, but it definitely felt like someone was watching. I was so worried someone would walk around the corner and catch me being a weirdo. 😅 worth it in the end, nI'm😂 Thanks for watching
Haha, felt like someone was in the bushes watching me. So awkward 😂 I’ve never done any sign up events, I think I’d like them and am keen to try the hunt 1000 one day but generally finding the time is the hard part. I think I like cameras more than bikes so I’ve been trying to get away once a month to make a video and that month comes around quick. I’ve then got family time, work, editing time, just general life stuff, you get the idea. I could make a video on a “sign up” ride but I feel like I’d struggle with the camera with lots of people around. Who knows, I generally don’t plan a ride / trip until I’ve finished a video and then decide what’s next.
@@advanturest finding the time, so true hey! Especially something 7+ days. Maybe that's the 50K subscriber reward, quit the day job and do the Hunt 😅 Hey whatever pops up, I'm keen to see / get motivated by your next one! @@kickjack Cheers mate. Glad my videos motivate you to get out there. My current income from these RUclips videos is about $50 a month. As much as I'd love to quit my day job I somehow can't see that happening😂. Saying that, I have long service leave coming up and I'd like to do a long trip somewhere. I've been thinking the south island of NZ. Its so pretty over there. For now the plan is to try do one weekend trip a month, and also win the lotto 😂
Haha 😂 But officer, it says it has 2.7 beers inside 😂 On a serious note, I did have 3 beers on me but saved the others for night 2. I normally have a minimum of 2 a night but this was my first trip without a backpack and believe me I had no spare room 😂
So it is, I didn’t remember paying for it but I’ve just checked my account and sure enough i did pay the $8. Good pick up! I still think $8 is pretty good considering all the other ones similar I’ve seen are a subscription. $8 well spent.
Enjoyed the energy and enthusiasm for adventure

So I went and bought myself a nothing fancy but was affordable mountain bike & currently trying to get that sorted along with the kids mountain bikes they already have. So have been watching a few of your vids to get a feel for it all with set up. Already have all the lightweight gear for hiking so that’s helped a lot. My other half thinks I’m crazy. Unfortunately he doesn’t share my love of the outdoors & adventures.
When I seen the Jeep at the end I thought looked like Scotty’s car. Would be a great person to bump into in the bush!
Cheers Heather. I assume that's your name 🤣
Thanks for the kind words.
That was Scottys old vehicle as a Bundeena/Maianbar boy i can confirm, love watching your adventures, super inspiring
You’re very welcome. So many cool spots to see. I’ll be back for some more exploring, so nice down there.
Cheers 👍
Just stumbled across your channel and watched this video. Absolutely loved it👍. I shared the link to GCN.
Awesome mate, glad you enjoyed my adventure 😁.
Thanks for sharing 👍
Dude what a great video! This video was a little bit of motivation for my upcoming bikepacking trip.
Cheers for watching 👍
P.S you’re not old 😃
Nice view 👌
Great photography 👌
So scenic, another great one mate 🤘
Cheers mate!
Great video Tim. I’ve just found your channel and it’s fantastic. Keep
To good content going, you have inspired me to start planning more trips.
It's a good day to be cycling. Have fun out there!
Always, Cheers mate!
Loved the 'wild' bit! Totally worth feeling a bit stupid 😂
I agree 😂
I always tell myself I don’t care what people think if they see me being weird but it doesn’t make it any easier.
Great film, loved it! Makes me want to go bikepacking up in Kosi now!
Definitely do it. Its great up there 🙂
Cheers for the kind words.
I see handle bar changes? Mongoose? Lovely trip! About to do an overnight in PNW. Need some bikes and natures! Ohh the Raleigh! 😎
My latest Ride was on the Mongoose but I haven’t made a video yet. I’m constantly swapping bikes 😂
This old Raleigh was pretty nice. Not much tyre clearance in the rear end though.
Enjoy your ride in the PNW 👍
What a beautiful place! Really enjoyed it. I was also digging your buddy's old red GT bike!
Cheers mate! Yeah that old red GT with the bright yellow frame bag really stands out. It’s a great subject to shoot 😂
My bike was just as old, just didn’t look like it with all the mods I’ve done too it. Doesn’t pop like the GT 😭
Your old ride is awesome too! Love that you added disc brakes and modernized it a bit. 👍
that one beer got ya really well hahaha btw, great riding and video mate!
haha cheers mate. I love that scene so much 😂😂
That video was well worth all the effort it must have taken to film and edit.
Cracking video. Keep them coming!
👍
I really enjoyed this one bud. Thanks for sharing 👌
Cheers mate! It was a fun trip. I love it so much down there and can’t wait to do it all again. 👍
Not sure how I happened upon this video and your channel but I love it! That looks like a beautiful place and your video is really well shot and edited. Good stuff!
Thanks mate, glad you found it 😁
I have a bit of an addiction at the moment with seeing all these Kosciuszko huts and I love playing with cameras. It’s a pretty awesome hobby and very cool people are watching my little adventures. It just makes me want to make more which gets me out in these nice places. So thanks. Welcome to the channel 😂
Great backpacking ride. Ride safe sir. Done subscribing in your channel sir
Nice video enjoyed it till the end. Go easy on them mega beers mate, you might do a hammy mid adventure. 🤣🤣
Haha, I was more worried about the cartwheels I was trying and breaking my neck, Then again that may have been due to the mega beers 😂
Onya mate. Love watching these
Cheers Diggy! 😉
Great vid mate, your powering up those hills!
Cheers Alex! Must be the lack of a gigantic backpack that’s normally slowing me down 😂felt so good not have 20kg on my back.
Enjoyed the video.... I was worried about that banana too....
It survived better than it did in my bag on the last trip. I think I've found the spot 😆
En ESPAÑA la cerveza tiene 6,2 alcohol ja ja ja ja ja la que te bebiste es agua para nosotros ja ja ja felicidades por tus videos desde Jaén ANDALUCÍA ESPAÑA te mando un abrazo.
Love these mate.
Cheers Mate! 👍
Brilliant.
Another good thing about riding in the Kosi that time of the year is your beer stays cold. 😁
Can’t believe I missed that point!
What was I thinking 😂
@@advanturest oh imagine a video with you and Scotty. That would be epic.
Magic!!!
It was. I love the area so much. 😍
Had to laugh at camera talk and dancing. I remember Revesby Workers where we frequented for meals and then the live band. My wife a dancer posters me to dance so I went to the rest room and made a video of me dancing and sent it to her with the caption "this is why I don't dance"
Haha, this is too funny. Image someone caught you 😂
Great one :)
Cheers Mate!
G'day Tim
Been incomunicardo for a while, always fantastic to see a "red" dot that you've uploaded a vid. Looks great 👍 only minus 3 for me but more than minus 10 for the snowies 🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶
Keep on keeping on mate 🏆
P.T
That is the best word I've ever seen, did you make it up or is it a real word 😂
It only got to 0 when I was there, I had my thermometer. It wasn't cold enough for me to show it in the video. Minus 3 is getting chilly. Stay warm my friend. Thanks again for the kind words.
Pinched the word from my daughter's vocabulary 😂
"incommunicado from the interwebs" is the whole.
Man winter is great, camp sites empty, roads quieter and to quote a great man "no fly's or snakes"😊
Heading into Piliga in roughly a week, so incomunicardo till out🤣
With deepest gratitude for taking the time to do these videos 🏆

Hey, lovely video mate :) What kind of rack and dry bag and bag size do you use? I like the simplicity & it looks pretty sturdy.
Hey mate, I’m away for the week so I’ll do my best to answer without looking. On the front is a Blackburn setup. I can’t remember sizes but I know the cradle and dry bag came together. I believe this is the one.
www.blackburndesign.com/p/outpost-elite-bike-handlebar-roll-dry-bag/350170000100000070.html
All the other yellow dry bags are sea to summit big river bags. I normally use a 25L on the back and 5L on the forks.
I think I had one 9L on one fork on this trip. Rear rack I found on steet cleanup, not sure on brand. Hope that helps 👍
Arr...truth revealed! No snakes this time of year.😅
Great video 🎉 What handlebars are you using, really liked the look of them
Cheers Mate. These are a copy of the Surly Corner Bars. The Surly bars are steel where as these Ali Express versions are apparently Carbon. So far so good.
You alway take me on a journey.
Freaked me out 😂
I ended up grabbing a chair and wedging it closed.
Cheers!
@@advanturest 😳 that latch on the outside is exactly what concerned me! But I’m scared of my own shadow. Thanks for the reply. ..
The biggest thing to be afraid of in these huts are the resident rodents, who can and do chew through your gear to get at your food.
Amazing video. What camera did you use?
Cheers mate.
I have a Canon R6 and also use my GoPro 8
You installed hood extension to your corner bar sir?
New subscriber here from the Philippines
Ride safe always sir🤙🏾
No I didn’t, I ended up putting the brake levers all the way at the end. I then moved the shifter underneath so it wasn’t in the way of my hands. I have to move my hand to change gears but it’s fine. I quiet like jt.
I put some padding in the hood part between the main bar section and then wrapped them. I later video you should see them wrapped. I think there is plenty of room for my hands. I think my Barrington tops trip is the only video I’ve made with the fully wrapped bars.
@@advanturest thank you sir
Ride safe always

Totally worked 🤣👍👍
haha, I was pretty stoked with how it turned out.
Mate, you are such an inspiration. Such great vids. Cheers
Cheers mate. I appreciate the kind words 👍
the🍌;) great video
Haha, these bananas held up pretty good considering their position 😂
Thanks for watching.
What are the handle bars that you are using? And do you like them? Jeff
Cheers

I was expecting snowy mountains
Haha, maybe in winter. This trip was a week before winter and I was hoping to get snow but we only got rain.
This area is the lower part of the snowy mountains so I don’t think it gets much snow. I’m pretty keen to do a trip in the middle of winter, I’d love to get stuck in hut during a storm. Not sure why but it would make a good video 😂
Just found your channel from the states. Do you sell your photo's? Hugh MT biker never backed packed on one.
You inspired me to get my very nice Cannon out and start taking it along. Love your simple composition.
Didn't take that banana long to go brown!
It was still good. Another day and I don't think so 😂
It actually held together better than I thought, I normally put bananas in my bag and they get squashed. thought I'd try on top.
I'd do it again!
Beautiul. You got a sub by me!
Such a magic area to get outdoors. Thanks for watching 😄
😅 worth it in the end, nI'm😂
Thanks for watching
Dance like no-one's watching 😅
Bro - do you go for any sign-ups events, like Hunt1000 or mostly prefer to do your own thing?
Cheers!
Haha, felt like someone was in the bushes watching me. So awkward 😂
I’ve never done any sign up events, I think I’d like them and am keen to try the hunt 1000 one day but generally finding the time is the hard part.
Maybe that's the 50K subscriber reward, quit the day job and do the Hunt 😅
Hey whatever pops up, I'm keen to see / get motivated by your next one! Often ends in me planning a day / 2-day adventure; you're knocking it out of the park.
For now the plan is to try do one weekend trip a month, and also win the lotto 😂
one beer ? you do know that is illegal in the northern territory !! no one is allowed to have just one beer !!! ha ha ha
Haha 😂 But officer, it says it has 2.7 beers inside 😂
On a serious note, I did have 3 beers on me but saved the others for night 2. I normally have a minimum of 2 a night but this was my first trip without a backpack and believe me I had no spare room 😂
