    I use Freezer paper for all my fabric stableizers. Does wonderful for even tiny embroidery words. I've been using it on all my embroidery design quilt blocks since 1998 and they all look brand new stitched today. It saves a whole lot of money. Put the shiny side facing up. It tears away so easy on the back to

    One thing that’s nice about the journals is a way to keep track of your stash. I don’t have a huge stash, but I still forget what I have and where it’s located in my sewing room. I’m going to use the journal to log my fabrics and the different colors. I’m also going to add pictures of my fabrics/charm packs/jelly rolls,, etc. to the journal. Good for tracking patterns too.

      Wow! That sound pretty ambitious! My fabric sorting system consists of: Pre-cuts by type, solids, backings, Christmas, Americana, and scraps. That's about all I can handle. I track my patterns on Pinterest. I have created boards of Patterns I Want and Patterns I Have.

    Hi, Becky, I am looking forward to watching the machine embroidery videos. I acquired a second hand Brother machine last year but so far have not tried any embroidery, just been sewing garments - too scared to try! 🤣 ( Need to buy some embroidery thread also!) Any help along the way is gratefully received. Kind regards from Penny in Liverpool 🇬🇧😊💕

    I believe you are talking about Karen Brown of Just Get It Done Quilts.. I am subscribed to her channel . She has taught me a thing or two about quilting. That is really how I have learned to quilt, is by watching youtube quilting channels.. And I am like you, I don't care for the planners either.. I just get a plan in my mind and do it.. lol It usually doesn't look too great, but I always finish it up and then move on to the next one.. And I don't need a planner to tell me when or how to clean a certain part of my house and all that stuff. I just clean my house. lol. But I am not kicking planners.. Some people like them. I just don't happen to be someone who finds them useful.. God loves you.. God bless.

    No, I didn't get a new sewing machine! What's up with that? lol, We had a scare between Dec 21 and Dec 28. My hubby went for an MRI on his back and they found an aortic abdominal aneurysm. It's called a triple A. Widowmaker. They were looking for a pinched nerve and found this. Thank you, Jesus, they found it. He had to have surgery on the 28 of Dec. So our Christmas this year was full of stress and tears, but we made it through thanking the Lord. Now we are recovering. So my gift and his gift was that he is still with us today. Which is the best gift.

    Enjoyed your chat as usual! I always like to know what you are working on. 😊 I bought a robe for my brother to monogram with the preppie font! But realized I had a plush fleece instead of Terry & was not sure of what kind of stabilizer to use. Any suggestions; he wants it NOW😀

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  5 лет назад

      For stabilizer on fleece, I'd use two layers: a layer of Sulky Super Solvy closest to the fabric and a medium weight cut away mesh in the bottom of the hoop. You need the mesh to remain after washing. If you don't have any Super Solvy, then use two layers of mesh. Then I'd use two layers of Sulky Solvy topper so the stitches don't bury in the pile. If you don't have any of that, use something like Saran Wrap. But note that Saran Wrap isn't soluble so you'll have a lot of clean up to do after stitching to get all those little bits away from the stitches.

    Recovering from Surgery and missed the wall hanging pattern from kimbelle🙁, oh well. Next time. I have a scan and cut question. I have a pattern for quilted picture of some sea creatures. It came with a copy of pattern pieces that are separated and are already flipped. So can I scan it like it is and cut it, or do I have to change it? I hadn’t been on your blog for a while, love it! So much info!!

    Can it be done? I do have a thumb drive? HELP PLEASE....

      @PowerToolsWithThread  5 лет назад

      Oh my, you DO need help! :-)
      Here's a video I made that explains how to work with downloaded zip files. ruclips.net/video/h__9mmkwGNs/видео.html
      And here's a couple of videos that explain how to obtain a free version of Embrilliance so you can print out your design. You really don't need to edit the design at all but you will want to print it to see stitch orders and whatnot. You can do that with the free version of Embrilliance. The free version won't let you save any changes, but you already have the final file from DIME so no saving is necessary.
      Here's what Embrilliance is all about - ruclips.net/video/oV7ABGIwHwM/видео.html
      Here's how to work Embrilliance Essentials - ruclips.net/video/Ux46I1NoGrE/видео.html
      And thanks for the OML info. I'll check it out!

    hi from west australia, question is simple applique just for brother ? i have a janome

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  5 лет назад

      Simply Applique is a Brother software product however it will save to any machine embroidery format, including JEF files. The only restriction with Simply Applique is that it won't work on a Mac. It is for a Windows PC only. If you have a Windows machine, it will work for you. If you look at some of my videos on Simply Applique, I show the screen where it shows what format it saves to and Janome/JEF is there.

    There’s a free app called Ink Scape whereas you can design your own embroidery designs...Lisa Capen has a step by step process for it....not to take away from your great lessons just thought I would share whereas someone can learn from you and they may not be researching in other videos.
    Question......the embroidery designs are for the machines...mine is a small Brothers...is it possible to down load a design to print for hand embroidery....since you are a computer whizz ...🤩

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  5 лет назад

      I loathe designing of any kind. I can copy like a mad fool (mostly fool! lol) and I prefer to use someone else's embroidery designs so I probably wouldn't use Ink Scape. But thank you for sharing that info because I'm certain there are those here who would be very interested in checking it out. As far as printing, if you have Embrilliance, including the free version, you can print out downloaded embroidery designs. Of course, some digitizers like Urban Threads also offer hand embroidery files in addition to their machine embroidery files.

    What size will the door embroidery's be? Maybe we could do a door a month/quilt. That way you would be incorporating two passions.
    Yes I too have watched Karen Brown of "Just get it Done". But her Bullet Journal is more involved than what I like also. I even checked out Ryder Carroll's site. Everything sounds good but I don't need another job (journaling). I'll just keep my list/appointments in my phone.
    Have you ever watched any of the Costumers on RUclips? Some of the detail they do on their period dresses is very impressive. Watching has almost made me want to try to make one and maybe go to Costume College (a gathering they do annually where the have classes and everyone gets a chance to show off what they have made).
    Have a great day!

    • @2Peachcobler
      @2Peachcobler 5 лет назад

      Power Tools with Thread: On Saturday OML Embroidery did the January door live. My question is when you do your door are you going to just put the fabric on and trim it? Or are you going to try to make a file so you can put it on your Scan N Cut and cut the pieces out? People have been posting their doors on Facebook and some have added embellished to their doors, wreath, birds, & dogs. But I have not found those designs and I was wondering if maybe you have an idea where they found them. I'm new to machine embroidery, new to quilting but I have sewed for over 60 years.

    Have missed your chit chats. The 2 embroidery alongs should be fun. I had already d/l'd the door design because I too love doors. When we were in London those were the only pictures I took - so many interesting one. Looking forward to the upcoming fun. Also, you're always so good about sharing products you find and giving an honest opinion, that I thought I would share something I just heard about - Hotfix Adhesive (ruclips.net/video/PRw1QEdllfc/видео.html) It's a Heat and Bond "like" product which was apparently developed for Disney. I've order some from Amazon but haven't received it. Has good reviews - wondering if you know anything about it.
