Fantastic Interview Chris, really enjoyed all of this. I remember the Elton John Rocket Records Christmas party with Dramatis back in 1981....Best Wishes, John (the Shoemaker) near Cambridge.
I was at the 4th show on the Touring Principle tour at the Bristol Colston hall, and then 2 nights on the Tele tour in 1980 in Bristol, and the last 2 Farewell shows at Wembley arena in 81, followed by many more shows in the 80s and early 90s. I feel i was part of something special back then!
Chris Payne, you are a scholar and a gentleman. Erudite but down to earth. Would have loved to hear you play some of the musical technicalities. Merci pour avoir répondu à nos questions avec générosité et pour la musique sublime actuelle 💙
This is so great to listen to. I am very fortunate to have an autographed Replicus lp cover by all of the members of the 79 touring band. Truly, one of my prized possessions.
What a very interesting conversation! Thank you both very much! 😀👍 Also good to hear what _really_ had gone wrong around the OGWT broadcast! Annie Nightingale was giving a different version as commentary to the 'Friends' clip on the show's DVD (Gary's guitarist supposedly crashing into the speakers with his guitar, which made her laugh, and apparently Gary never forgave her for that either), but I never saw anything go wrong when watching the whole performance - Now I know why, too! 😉👍
Thanks for asking Chris my question. So, a Fury tour jacket! I remember those. Silky white jackets with the red lettering if I remember correctly. Can't be many of those still around! 😊
And the video for complex was also years ahead of its time, and got no recognition for it,aha kind of copied the visual drawing look I always thought on take on me
