As another has already said, thanks for making videos again. I’ve fit.ed up my subscription once again. Tried cigars but you can’t beat a pipe. I smoke primarily when at fish camp. Not only do I enjoy the smoke, it has the added benefit of keeping the bugs at bay! Black Cavendish flavored tobaccos are my preferred.

Hey sarge, great to see you back making vids. I@ve been smoking a pipe for about six or seven years now. I honestly can't count the amount of times people have stopped me, both on site at work and on the street, even when I'm out with my wife and they always say the same thing "I love the smell of the pipe, my grandad used to smoke one". It's just one of many reasons i love smoking my pipe. I smoke a blend called "Connemara Black". It's an aromatic blend from Petersons in Dublin, cherry flavoured and by far my favorite. I've also built up quite a collection of pipes and folks don't believe how different the smoke from each one is. Crooked pipes, straight stemmed, black briar, long stemmed and church warden, all have a slightly different effect on the same tabacco. I'm looking forward to getting back out into the woods cause there's just something beautiful about smoking a pipe beside the campfire.

There's just nothing more calming and fulfilling than a good pipe in the outdoors.
I usually just keep my pipe tobacco sealed in the tins they come in and in airtight jars once opened, but that kit gives me some ideas, thanks!

Borkum Riff Cherry is my favorite.
I used to do logging. During the deep winter in the early morning I would drive the skidder up to the top of a hill just at sunrise. I would get over the top, stop and shut of the machine then load my pipe. By the time the pipe was loaded, the critters would relax and start making their calls and vocalizations.
It was glorious sitting in the sunrise at minus 20c with the smell of borkum riff wafting around, and the pleasant cherry on my tongue.
A great way to begin the work day.

Great pipes! I like corn cobs, smoking Samuel Gawith Squadron Leader mostly, sometimes adding cigar leftovers in it. Its really basic mild English mix with floral note and very interesting history behind it. Kidding, just love package design with a plane :)

Hey! Nice to see you on YT out in the woods - and with a pipe! I smoke pipe myself. I like Orlik Golden Sliced. A flake, mix of mature Virginias. It's absolutely a top 5! Others: Capstan (yellow and blue), Lousiana Flake. But I'm like you - love to try different things. Mostly non-aromatics though.

    Beautiful aromas, like an incense.

I like heavy Latakia blends. Im a rookie (tobacco) piper, very rarely do I bust one out, but I found quickly that flavored smokes aren't the best for me. Then i found i really like latakia, orientals, english blends, etc.
2 that made an impression on me right off are Cornell and Diehl's Harbor Flake and Hearth and Home Heart of Darkness. The Heart of Darkness smells like a campfire when you open the tin, its almost 2/3 Latakia. Good stuff, plus it doesn't make me sick like a lot of the stronger nicotine varieties like the virginias and the perique blends can. I'm real sensitive to nicotine. And I've found rum soaked baccy to be splendid tasting, but it's very strong for me. I tried the Gaslight... Whooo buddy.. i killed some grass after that for sure, turned me green.

Just found this vid and had become a subscriber a few days ago, glad to see there's some other Bushcraft pipe smokers out there. Some of my favorite tobaccos are Hearth and Home White Knight .
Of course Seattle pipe Club plum pudding, and Maltese Falcon by
G.L. PEASE, and another good one that I thought might be too strong for me but turned out it wasn't, Orlik DARK STRONG KENTUCKY

hey, i do ryo roll your own cigarettes. The good stuff is mainly used for ryo cigs. For a good pipe tobacco id recommend the "codger" blends like carter hall, prince albert or walter raleigh. then there's also the aromatics like captain black or half and half

I make my pipes out of Pecan because i have 7 Pecan trees on my property . I drill my stems with a 3/16" bit because i like a tighter draw but if you like the full draw use a dead rose bush stem, very easy to hallow out.
Tobacco i smoke is called cowboy coffee www.thecountrysquireonline.com/product/cowboy-coffee-virginia-kentucky/

I'm another one, like Mitch, who only smokes wild plants. That said, there's a world of difference between cigarette tobacco and good pipe tobacco. Pipes get a bad rap. I would have liked to try Frog Morton's Cellar, before the company decided to call it quits in the wake of the new regulations.
Do you happen to recall the name of the book you mentioned? I tend to favor mullein, staghorn sumac, and yarrow, either alone or together. Those are my favorites, especially when the sumac has been turned red by the first frost.
