“I had a moment like you did, where I got too high” - Stingerswarm, 2019
I went to comment this same thing
Me: "Are we still talking about Drones here??"
Awesome video! Thanks for reaching out and including me in this video. I really liked the energy you guys bring into your videos. Keep killing it! 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
VIK FPV was just thinking of you from just looking at the title
Emil Wilkens haha yeah I know I am one of the few 👽👽👽
VIK FPV I’ve always wondered what the heck was going on in your stick cam. I thought you were mode 3 but now I know.
Awesome VIK!
VIK FPV RIPZ BALLZ!
It's probably even harder than for a beginner because you're working against all that muscle memory you've developed the entire time you've been flying.
So true! Not knowing everything is much preferable to everything you know suddenly being wrong. Reminds me of the channel Smarter Every Day where the host tried to ride a bike with reversed steering. It took weeks for him to learn reversed steering and then is was equally hard to go back to normal steering again.
@@Pile_of_carbon Yes, I saw that smarter every day video, he does some fascinating things
It’s like driving a manual car then driving an automatic. You slam the brakes thinking it’s the clutch.
0:15 ZOROE STICKER!!!! Also, great episode you guyyyyyssss! Miss and love you all.
That priceless look on Joshua's face when Kevin says "Well now that we've modded the radio....there's really not a lot more to do than go crash Bardwell's quads" :D
🤣🤣🤣
Love your avatar. REBOOT FTW!
@@gjhoward Cheers, you might have seen some of my ReBoot collection if you've ever looked at the ReBoot Museum online. I'm going to try and photograph all my ReBoot items this year.
Bardwell's flying like Ray Charles... lol
RayCharlesFPV would be a great pilot name
Probably would be a great addition for JB for his video receiver tests
@@VincentFischer bwahahaha!!! "Blind" receiver test brought to you by JB and RayCharlesFPV
@@TheOneAndOnlyRandy best video receiver ever for line of sight flying!
Haha, it's like someone new to gaming playing a racing game but in 3d.
I fly mode 4 and that’s what I have always flown. It’s the best for me. Love this video guys. Keep them coming
6:38 Everything about JB's panic and response here gave me flashbacks to my first flights. Loved this!!
Thank you for making this video. I actually have a terminal neurological disease and it has messed up my world, but anyway I can only fly in MODE 3 due to neurological functions. Don't feel discouraged about my illness. I was able to document my life with 2 award winning films so at least the world will know about Multiple System Atrophy. It was fun watching you guys fly my mode. Great Hotel video.
This was hilarious to see even the pros struggle, its one hell of a brain twister. Great too see VIK FPV in the show you guys should include him more often, he is one crazy pilot.
"I'm high, I'm high, this is terrifying!" - Stingerswarm, 2019
Awesome episode! HUGE shout out to VIK FPV!👊👊👊👊
0:00 RIP headphone users
I'm a mode 2 Aussie haha! Australians that fly mode 1 are usually older guys that were into RC planes & Helis well before miniquads were a thing. Most people I know here fly mode 2.
Glad you guys decided to go ahead & do this episode. Most entertaining RR episode I've seen in a while & has given me even more mad respect for Chad Nowak as he taught himself how to fly Mode 2 after years of being Mode 1.
Great episode guys!
hahaha his face after crashing hard is priceless..
Thanks RR for Grabbing Vik ! We need more of him on RR !!!!!
No way I could complete this one.. it's worse than starting over . Lol
This was a RR classic for the books.
I was too high before I even watched this video LOL, I have spent so much time developing my muscle memory in order to not have to think when I fly. In fact it has gotten to the point where if you ask me how I do this or that, I tell people " I have no idea, ask my thumbs" I used to feel sick to my stomach with anxiety when I first started flying, now it seems so natural the only feelings I have are excitement and serenity. I don't miss the days of anxious nervous guts and having to think when I fly so I will not be trying this experiment any time soon. But I am glad you guys did.
I was getting anxiety for the first 7 and 1/2 minutes LOL
VIK coming through with the knowledge! Vik is a BEAST pilot always puts out 🔥🔥🔥.
😂😂I'm a newb and you guys nailed it. To the moon🌜bounce bounce crash back to the🚀🌚 moon crash 🤣Loved it. 💖🤓
Awesome interview with VIK FPV.
Some countries in Europe (like France) actually used to fly in Mode 1 but are slowly switching to Mode 2 but i believe there is still a huge amount of french hobbyists who still fly with Mode 1 :)
There's a RUclips channel called "Smarter Everyday". The host tries to learn to ride a bicycle that the steering is reversed. It takes him 8 months at 5 to 10 mins a day to learn. His 6 year old son learns in 2.5 weeks. This reminds me of that.
FinalGlideAUS can switch effortlessly between mode 1 and 2. Does people's head in. After 25 years in RC models in Australia, Mode 1 was his norm (plus he is left handed). Then he went to Merica where everyone wanted to check out how his quad flew or asked if he could fly their quad. Awkward in the early days but not any more.
Are you related to him?
@@quickf0x792 His dad.
Tell him he's a hero to some of us cross the pond, was great to have him come fly areas of our country.
I felt like this yesterday when I was flying for the first time lol your brain and hands don't like to work together I can't wait till this feeling goes away..😄
Stick time is everything
Awesome episode. Couldn't stop laughing. Must've felt good getting back in mode 2.
wow that was amazing. josh i think had a heart attack hahaha
Most outstandingly awesome idea for a video! I think you guyz openned up a cann'a worms here. Lets see some other big pilots attempting this!
If your training on the oposite mode that your used to it helps to do movements with each stick that are diagonal. Of coarse do it slowly and carefully but once you do a few diagonal stick movements it starts to click. I just started in fpv and I spent two weeks switching between mode 2 and 3. Now I can mostly fly both.
Love how you guys interviewed vik in this one he’s one of my favorite pilots this was a great video
WOW that was funny, one thing Josh said, ( what do beginners do ) We fly sims ! Thanks for a great time and show. And Stingersworm I thought you were going to be diving in minutes and how can you do that with minimal inputs ? Thanks again, and with Vic I understand that you can get your dominant hand to do pitch and roll but back when I started I only had mode 2, and I have Cerebral palsy and it has caused my right side to be Disabled and a 3/4 inch shorter than the left and I just learned to fly mode 2 and I can't see flying any other way now. Thanks again Guys for a great show.
Great video, really shows how practice makes perfect with flying and when you switch up the controls you have to totally relearn everything
Have you checked the centering screw in the radio. It may be turned a few cranks creating the dead spot on the left sticky
I want the dominant hand controlling movement (I.E. Mode 2). The throttle is like the clutch on a manual transmission. Should be so ingrained it should be an afterthought at most.
VIK is a legend
My boy Vik!!! Nice to see you finally explain why you did mode 3! Crazy dude with insane skills!
Joe Kunsch he actually explains it in one of his old videos I’ve been following him for a long time
lamont12373 good for you
Y'all to cool for school! 👌
This is EXACTLY how i feel this is awesome
Awesome time hanging with the RR crew this weekend at kwadkamp Orlando , can't wait for the next one , p.s remind Cory he owes me lol
Ozzie's might fly all X eyed but us Kiwis are Mode 2!! You crazy kids.
I understand having your dominant hand on the throttle, but I think having your dominant hand on the “directional” stick (pitch, roll) is better because you’ll be moving that stick more often than throttle. Plus, having fine-motor movements in your dominant hand will provide smoother directional movements.
Love the flights at the end
Lucky left hand! 👌👌👌
Man this video was awesome!!! I didn't realise you two were actually human!!! 🔥
If only FinalGlide was still around.....
Chris Brent thers a reason hes been gone
Maxiemus FPV what’s the reason?
Why is he gone
RC Area there was some drama he made a fb post about it google it
He’s been mode 2 for ages now
I fly mode 1 and i am from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 love this! So funny 🤣🤣🤣
I am also left handed and fly mode 2. It just makes sense. Furthermore I am a helicopter pilot, full scale and the controls are similar, cyclic on right hand, so right hand side on transmitter and collective on left, same as throttle, so it’s natural.
Really brings back how it felt to fly first Kwad.!
Vik is the man!
The most FIRST thing what you need to do before you take apart Taranis, is to UNPLUG battery, or you can just burn MB if you decide to remove cables =)
Nice to see pros like you struggleing af :D
Great to see.
I will change to Mode 3 to see if it's better for me. Thanks guys
Ain't no dominant thumb, thumbers unite! That was funny when Bardwell got lost and scared, just like it was his first flight. I've got no desire to try mode 1, nope.
It's like the backwards bicycle. You have to totally re-train your brain and muscle memory. You hit the spot by the way by saying "this is what beginners feel like", because that is exactly what I remember when trying to master my first quad in acro mode. It felt IMPOSSIBLE, until you start to "feel" it. It's a pretty weird process when you think about it.
guys when doing this kind of stuff just put angle or horizon in a swich so if something is going off really bad you just hit that mantain throttle, googles off and land in loss, that is what i do when experimenting things, awesome video I would totally try to do it
Be cool to have a contest to fly a course with you guys in Mode 1 and a beginner and see who does best, it is amazing how muscle memory really is engrained into our brains.
I've been in this hobby long enough to know this is gona be a bad idea...lol. Awesome
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! I flew like JB (in this vid) for damn near 6 months!!!
Epic video! So much to think about.
I like how jb flies the wizard because he doesnt care if he breaks it
Mode 3 here - and rudder inverted^^ i like it 😎
I love the challanges u guys set. . Ive been flying 7" on 5s packs. . . And would love for u guys to make a challange of flying 7" and see how tgey find it. .
I am brand new to all this, so I am not used to any mode.
But after reading what all the modes are, I've decided to learn in mode 4, apparently the rarest used of all the modes, because it's the closest to FPS games controls.
How’s that working for you now?
I like the vid just cuz u used the eachine wiz
This is so hilarious! What a fun experiment!
That is how I felt learning only a few months ago!
Takes me back to day one flying, no idea what ur doing just trying not to kill people
Loved the video... Nice work guy's 👍
If you have video game muscle memory, you're used to "strafe" being on your left hand and turning (yaw) on your right. So it is tempting to try that.
I learned to fly fixed wing aircraft Mode 4. Later taught myself Mode 2, so can fly both but I'm proficient in Mode 4. But I fly quads and helis in Mode 2 like everyone else. It's all hand eye coordination and making your brain learned the mind muscle motor movements
I have an idea for a challenge. Setup a course for two competing pilots. Somehow give control to your competitor over angle, horizon, and acro modes. Can you imaging trying to fly in angle and someone flips you into acro and you have no idea when it’s going to happen.
having 10-15 degree camera angle helps a lot ..... when you try to switch modes or learn any fpv tbh
You can setup instant mode changes on a switch in OpenTX with a few additional lines in the mixer section. I'm on mode3 but use a switch to toggle between that and mode1 for a couple friends. It's an easy way to have friends fly your quads.
Some good insight, i am also a lefty. I am waiting for my first piece of kit! I cannot wait!
Mode 2 xx
yaw on the pitch stick is cool. i wanht to do this but i dont want to open my radio up. oh i have an old flysky to use
Ahhh man I Havnt laughed this hard In a long time.... Flashbacks of learning to fly lol
Hey rotor riot u guys should revisit the video where u had two teams going around with a checklist of things to fly.
Best faces ever :D :D :D
This location reminds me somehow of the old flitetest headquaters :D
Mode 2 has always felt natural from Rc cars, collecovision as a child to driving a stick... And I'm British living in Canada!? Lol cheers
Nice! Can you guys please make an instructional about how to make a youtube flight video. Maybe a mobil version... if you have a good app for that?!?! And maybe a more in depth one on a computer. That would be super great!
The yaw was inverted?
what if you had throttle on the right stick on the left to right axis and roll on the left stick on the up down axis and pitch left stich on the right to left axis and yaw on the up down on the left stick
Great video guys!!! That’s what it looks like why I fly. 😂😂😂😂
Awesome you guys got ahold of VIK, that guy is a beast. Also this is a great video for anyone trying to master angle mode before they try AIR mode lol
That was brilliant..and exactly how I fly ..not the mode..just the complete lack of control.
Watching you take your controllers apart is giving me anxiety I can't watch haha
Gonna have to try mode 3 per Vik!
I'm left handed, so mode 2 for me. Would be interesting to try it though;)
Yea I’m a righty and Vik makes sense with the throttle control in your dominant hand
@@elis51501 I'm mode 3 same as vik. I wanted the throttle on the right, same as the cars (right foot) and boats (right hand) I've driven (driving left side of the road - aus). I am left handed, but then most lefties are closer to ambidextrous than "left only" anyway.
Awesome idea for a video
Now you know how I feel lol great vid!
ive played video games where the controls have the same kind of modes. Actually call of duty or any first person shooter has different stick modes exactly like a TX
Great video! JB like your T-Shirt, where did you get it from?
5:45 do I see props on?
I download the Sim on Xbox and his driving like me on my first day 😭😂😂
Great episode btw
Just to share with you, most quad guys in Australia also fly mode 2 and there are a couple reasons for this.
Since quads have been around it kind of makes more sense to fly mode 2 having everything on 1 stick and it appears most who fly quads haven't been in the rc industry very long, if anything come from a gaming background so I presume they are used to the layout.
Also mode 2 can be a bit easier to pick up for most people.
But in reference to your initial comment about mode 1 users and Australians, you will find that many old school rc pilots like say Chad or myself use mode 1 and I believe the reason I learnt this way was flying fixed wing and 3D manoeuvres. I found more control by having that separation.
Once you learn one way its very hard to change, I will crash almost every time in mode 2 under a tense situation as i just go back to mode 1 recovery every time.
Suffice to say that FGA is one of the few celebrity pilots who can not only fly BOTH mode 1 and 2 but can do so with great skill. And he can switch between both modes in a snap!! Sick.
Plus he is left handed!!!
What is the legendary mode three controller... I want it..
I miss the old days where charpu Mr Steele and Chad nowak was in here
so mode 3 is like left handed or switch stance
This is what my first experience with fpv looked like haha.
The mode question wasn't even there, when I started in the 1970s here in Germany. All radios were mode 1 with no option to change it without soldering.
I tried to switch to mode 2 when I started flying helicopters 14 years ago. I thought it's more like in real helicopters and I had to learn a lot of new things anyway.
It did not work, it's like mode 1 is hard-wired in my brain :)
So I'm still flying mode 1.
The skate boarding community and snowboarding call that switch stance, I think it should be on a mode switch to change between mode 1 and 2 in free style tournaments for points
Is there any radios with triggers like xbox controllers. I want throttle on right trigger so I can free up the left stick for pan and tilt. Rudder channel is for a pan servo rn. Flying a glider not quad
