It's all relative to age. If you dont have anyone old enough to remember her, you'd have to find her on your own. Shes a legend with a legendary past. I'm glad you came across her.
I have a collection. Never get tired of her voice. "Trust in Me" showed the true beauty of her voice. Her first four words as those piano notes played are about the most beautiful words you'll ever hear in life.
Hey your ignorance is forgiven. There was a time, 42 yrs ago, when I didnt know who Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn, or Dinah Washington were...but I made up for lost time ! Seek out and Enjoy the Rich legacy of Etta and all these fabulous Jazz and R&B Divas. You will never tire of worshipping at their altars.
Etta, Billie, Ella, Mahalia.., all GOATS who ultimately influenced the queen, Aretha.., but who were all themselves influenced by the OG, the Original GOAT of females singers in America.., Bessie Smith.
The show was called The Beat !!! and ran for one year - 1966. All the complete shows save 1 or 2 are on YT. Known performers and newcomers, not all good but it was sort of a variety showcase R&B program. I haven't made a list of who is on which show, but I believe Etta showed up more than once.

"What'd I Say", not "What I'd Say"
Ray should have been there
RAY
I think you mean “What’d I say?” (the actual name of the song) not “What I’d Say.” Completely different meanings. Can you understand this?
Anything u say 😂
WHY
This is what Janis Joplin was TRYING to imitate, but didn’t have 1/4 the voice or musicianship. Sorry, white people who have only heard Janis
Agree!
Black people used to be so cool
