I cannot recommend this video enough. I was quoted by an Apple approved "Specialist" £600 pounds to replace what they said would be the back panel, battery and keyboard. They said that its because components are "welded" to the chasis. I think what they meant to say was that there's double-sided tape and a few screws. £40 for a new battery from Ebay (Official Apple part) and 45 minutes of time going very carefully. You are an absolute legend thank you so so much.

Awesome video. Helped me change my battery, and everything worked perfectly. Word of caution, though… When removing the old battery, absolutely do NOT bend the old battery. I bent one of them too much, and it literally caught on fire for a second and then started smoking for a while after. And then I bent another one on the other side, and it started smoking as well. So just be very careful. But other than that, everything went perfectly and this video was fantastic! Thank you!
Thanks you so much for shearing your experience, this model MacBook Pro needs a professional to do the job but most people with common sense and some research can get the battery changed done safely, No bending, No Sharp Objects, No Poking, No Heating, And Make make sure you discharge the battery by letting the laptop stay on until turns off due to low battery before starting the battery swap.. I work at an apple authorized repair store. Technically, we are supposed to replace the entire top case assembly, which obviously costs a lot of money. But in my experience, replacing with an OEM battery is just as affective. Only difference is, I take the entire logic board and trackpad assembly out before removing the battery. Yes it takes a bit longer, but there is a much lower risk of damaging something. Also, I use alcohol and heat to remove the old adhesive, the new battery sticks better that way.
I have managed to replace the battery, phew, but sadly I might have damaged the circuit for the trackpad which is now unresponsive. Does the circuit below the center batteries for the track pad? I saw one pin damaged because I scratched with a minus driver. Or is it more likely because of the cable connection?
Thank you for video. Is it ok?? when new battery put on, not remove the under film... (I want to preserve the under film) beecaus of the battery for easy detach. (Maybe next year?? I'll try it again this aversion working...) please response..
Where is the wifi module. Im sick of my mac disconnecting all the time and sometimes/most times cant connect. Also where is the hd and can it be replaced.
I didn't see any battery options for a late 2017 13inch macbook pro. Will they become available at some point or is it the same battery as the 15 inch macbook?
Good directions, thank you. I notice that you didn't remove the trackpad as other people do, in order not to damage it. But, I think is possible to do without removing the trackpad, but it takes a lot of care. isn't it?
Veve. the trackpad is not on the way of battery removal, the trackpad cable is but not the trackpad it self, not sure why they would of remove it.. here is a link that we completely disassembled this model and you would see that trackpad is not on the way, good luck :) ruclips.net/video/EVr2TE8gc4U/видео.html

Thank you!! Really useful video. I had a problem with the with the flex cable (min 11.05) because I didn't unlocked the mechanism, but your video was enlightening for me
Your video was the most informative and straight forward. Thanks. I changed the battery. BUT!!!! what was not mentioned in your video was how you have to be REALLY CAREFUL sliding your pry tool under the center batteries to get them off. I unfortunately must have pry too hard, and my tool slipped into the small square holes under the batter leading to the back of the trackpad electronics. So, after reconnecting, my trackpad AND keyboard both don't work. Fortunately, I am working around this by using an external BT keyboard and a logitech mouse via USB dongle. Perhaps I may have not connected that ribbon cable properly? Could this be the reason why both my keyboard and trackpad are not working afterward? Or is it because the PRAM or SMC is off because of the battery replacement? Hopefully is is not a damage issue, and maybe the ribbon cable or the memory. Any suggestions? Oh, I also just bought your 9 in 1 disassemble tool kit from your website. Thanks.
@@MatthewChenIsAwesome honestly, my A1707 15" MacBookPro is suffering from the cable gate issue involving a monitor ribbon cable defect causing these and other models to blackout the screen when lid is opened past 45°. A class action lawsuit against Apple on this issue was filed, and Apple managed to get that case sent back down to the original court. Aintiffs are revising their lawsuit and plan to refine it. Apple already agreed to provide free fix ($600) for the 13 inch macbooks. But not for the 15 inch models for some reason. So. To answer your question. No. No I have not put any more effort into this computer other than to get it up and running and able to function is to function enough for me to use with with the lid partially open. I'm actually looking at the LG Graham 17" model as a replacement just to get rid of the entire macbook line from my from my computer use
Can you help me please reply me I went to service center for battery replacement but they says you should also replace the case because battery comes with the top case I don’t understand why ? The issue is only battery but why top case replace they will replace the Touch Bar top case if I am not wrong also the keyboard . Do I really need to replace the top case or only the battery ?

My battery is still OK. I watched your video to see how to access the fans. I'm sure mine need cleaning after hundreds of hours of use. I was taught that it is important to restrain the fan blades from spinning to avoid unnatural forces damaging the fan bearings. I don't understand how that could really be a problem but I still do it out of respect for my instructors. Also because of superstition - I don't want to change my luck. : - ) Do you have anything else to suggest about cleaning the MBP A1707 fans or about other things to check when the case is open?
keeping inside the unit clean and free of dust will definitely increase the laptop life, air circulation and keeping the unit cool can means between having major issues such as gpu failure or not having one, i think cleaning the fans using antistatic brush is a good thing to do as regular maintenance, depending on the environment your using it can range from every 6 months to every 5 years... no need to remove the fans but if you can that is a plus.. good luck
You can find used one on eBay, many advertise new batteries to be original but you can’t trust that as most are counterfeit since Apple do not sell batteries to general public, can’t really find new apple batteries on the market unless your an authorized repair shop that can get it off Apple directly , or just have Apple fix the battery if you certainly want original one, otherwise you can find aftermarket batteries that match quality on tekdep.com
Very nice video, however question. I have replaced the battery on an older model macbook before (2014) and i had to do some things after replacing the battery to recalibrate the computer to that battery. Are these ones just plug and play or are there steps i have to go through to make sure the computer recognizes the battery? Thanks

In Short 1st option only Apple Store and authorized apple service center has lose oem brand new battery, and they will not sale them individually. They need to perform the entire repair, so you can’t buy one 2nd option to purchase used good condition battery that is apple, we carry original oem batteries that are used and attached to the keyboard and top case, if you buy a top case assembly with battery you will be changing the entire top case assembly link is below, tekdep.com/?s=A1398+battery%E2%80%99s&post_type=product 3rd option, battery is a compatible aftermarket version that we have the premium version and it’s comparable with apple batteries, We also provide mail-in repair and battery replacement services. Link is below to all battery’s and top cases tekdep.com/?s=A1398+battery%E2%80%99s&post_type=product Good luck 🍀
Thank you so much for this! Me and a buddy successfully changed his battery! It was way easier than I expected! However, we did everything we could to prevent losing any screws but somehow we still did lol. We lost one of the screws (I believe a T3 ) that goes into the logic board. It seems to be firm be and snug and level without it, but I would feel better if we just got a replacement screw. I just don’t know the length or where to get them? Could you point me in the right direction?
That is great that you been able to change your own battery! good feeling regarding the missing screw you should be fine, apple use lots of them so if you lose one it shouldn't be any issue but if you want to replace it for sure than visit the link below for the screw sets 15" Touch Bar complete internal screws and brackets ( A1707 / A1990 ) 2016- 2017 -2018 - 2019 tekdep.com/product/complete-screw-set-hardware-brackets-for-15-macbook-pro-2018-2019-a1990/

Hey Charon, apple recommend changing battery when it hit 1000 cycle, but i seen battery's that works just perfect even at 2000cycle, it depends on the environment you been using you laptop but however if your not getting much of battery life than you may want to have it changed by a technician or change it your self if your conformable doing the repair, battery's we sell are very low cycle and we sell new one as well, here is a link Link to purchase battery for A1707 2016-2017 MacBook Pro 15 Inch tekdep.com/product/a1820-battery-for-macbook-pro-15-2016-2017/ Link For tools tekdep.com/product-category/repair-tools/

My battery cycle crossed 1000 cycle after 2 years ,,,,,

Gracias por el vídeo, me ayudó Muchísimo como guía para cambiar la batería, muchas gracias buen hombre
Thank you for the video!!! -just a question... what about the quality of the battery you sell. It is a new battery or an old battery???
I have managed to replace the battery, phew, but sadly I might have damaged the circuit for the trackpad which is now unresponsive. Does the circuit below the center batteries for the track pad? I saw one pin damaged because I scratched with a minus driver. Or is it more likely because of the cable connection?
Kudos, so well done. was my first time and managed to follow along and change it - so helpful!
Successful done ✅ how to disable the software advice that is shown because of the old battery?
That is Great!
After some circles the advice about to change battery disappeared.
Very thorough and straight forward instructions. Thank you!
Thank you for video.
Is it ok?? when new battery put on, not remove the under film... (I want to preserve the under film)
beecaus of the battery for easy detach. (Maybe next year?? I'll try it again this aversion working...)
please response..
Yes you can totally install the battery without making the battery adhere to the top case, although we do not recommend this!
Where is the wifi module. Im sick of my mac disconnecting all the time and sometimes/most times cant connect. Also where is the hd and can it be replaced.
Thank you for making a really good video ❤
I didn't see any battery options for a late 2017 13inch macbook pro. Will they become available at some point or is it the same battery as the 15 inch macbook?
Good directions, thank you. I notice that you didn't remove the trackpad as other people do, in order not to damage it. But, I think is possible to do without removing the trackpad, but it takes a lot of care. isn't it?
Veve. the trackpad is not on the way of battery removal, the trackpad cable is but not the trackpad it self, not sure why they would of remove it.. here is a link that we completely disassembled this model and you would see that trackpad is not on the way, good luck :)

Cheers pal, very straightforward video
Followed you step by step. perfection!!
How long should I charge it after replacement
Thanks for the video. I replaced my battery but now my left fan is running at full speed all the time. I can’t even control it with a fan control app. I tried to reset the smc and nvram but it did nothing. Any idea?
Gracias por el video muy util
THANK YOU for this video! My cousin and I changed it through your assistance and I’m SO grateful🙌🏽💪🏽☺️

How did you know it was the battery?
Where did you buy this battery? Any brand name? Was it the right choice? Thanks for your feed-back.

Thank you!! Really useful video. I had a problem with the with the flex cable (min 11.05) because I didn't unlocked the mechanism, but your video was enlightening for me
I´ve replaced the battery and now the keyboard and USB ports doesn´t work! What´s happenning? Please help
Thanks.
It’s been some time; did you manage to fix your issue?
Thank you so much for the video. It was much quicker than using the adhesive remover and easy to follow along. 👍🏽
I Agree… 🪛
Thanks for the great manual, it helped me a lot

Thank you for your kind explanation.

This was extremely helpful! Great job.
Glad it was helpful!
Does it really matter if you damage the ribbon cables of the original battery since you are disposing of it anyway?
I have a MacBook Pro 15 inch from 2017 serial# C02V30B2HTDD I need to replace the battery which Battery do you recommend I'm not sure which one I need, Thank You for Your advice!

Do you have anything else to suggest about cleaning the MBP A1707 fans or about other things to check when the case is open?
keeping inside the unit clean and free of dust will definitely increase the laptop life, air circulation and keeping the unit cool can means between having major issues such as gpu failure or not having one, i think cleaning the fans using antistatic brush is a good thing to do as regular maintenance, depending on the environment your using it can range from every 6 months to every 5 years... no need to remove the fans but if you can that is a plus.. good luck
Where we can buy original batteries apple?
Thanks
Thank you! Resting the SMC is recommended.

Can I use a1990 display for a1707?
That won’t be possible, both displays looks the same but completely different and won’t light up unless corrected model is installed.
where to get genuine apple battery for a1707 model ?
In Short
1st option only Apple Store and authorized apple service center has lose oem brand new battery, and they will not sale them individually. They need to perform the entire repair, so you can’t buy one
2nd option to purchase used good condition battery that is apple, we carry original oem batteries that are used and attached to the keyboard and top case, if you buy a top case assembly with battery you will be changing the entire top case assembly link is below,
tekdep.com/?s=A1398+battery%E2%80%99s&post_type=product
3rd option, battery is a compatible aftermarket version that we have the premium version and it’s comparable with apple batteries,
We also provide mail-in repair and battery replacement services.

Thank you, great guide!
Glad you enjoyed it!
That is great that you been able to change your own battery! good feeling
regarding the missing screw you should be fine, apple use lots of them so if you lose one it shouldn't be any issue but if you want to replace it for sure than visit the link below for the screw sets

My service centre says they will also replace the top because its integrated
That is also a good option.
is the battery ok? how long his her using life? I mean I want to replace my old one now has 1335 cicles and the message to replace was for 10 cicles, my Macbook is the MB pro 2017 15'' 3,1, nice video if im ready I will buy it from your website have I any guaranty?
Hey Charon, apple recommend changing battery when it hit 1000 cycle, but i seen battery's that works just perfect even at 2000cycle, it depends on the environment you been using you laptop but however if your not getting much of battery life than you may want to have it changed by a technician or change it your self if your conformable doing the repair, battery's we sell are very low cycle and we sell new one as well, here is a link

@TEKDEP A technician at the apple Genius Bar told me he can’t replace the battery without replacing the top case, that the battery is connected to the keyboard etc. is this true..? He said he would charge me 700 for a top case and 200 for a battery replacement. (Sounds like a lie) I have a MacBook Pro 15 inch A1707
You can indeed change the battery without changing the top case as it’s shown on our video, good luck 🍀

Thanks for the post. Great video! One tip You don't need to remove the screws on the main board on my Macbook (mine only has one fan though so maybe a bit different). Also I had to salvage the cable from old battery to replace on the new one. Mine new battery didn't come with one, so just an FYI for those who's batteries didn't come with a cable. Again many thanks
Super Video.
Thanks ☝

Thank you for this video, i have done the same but now the Macbook wont turn ON, Do i have to do anything else or what else i can try? please let me know
Re check everything you did, and if everything looks ok than disconnect the battery and reconnect then connect you charger just to make sure the battery is fully charger. next try resting you SMC. link is below
