The gloom of his departure is lightened by the worth and values he left behind, and our ability to pick up the torch, so graciously handed on, and carry it, shedding light, as it was intended to do.
Orwell captured well the ugliness of a world dominated by power and control. And the founding fathers hammered out a document to prevent that very world from ever appearing. Each generation must work to conserve the good that has been created and to produce even more for the next generation. This means both fighting for what’s right and educating the next generation.
Love Sir Roger, and thx for helping spread his wisdom. Though it does him a disservice to crudely attempt to frame the topic within a strictly conservative vs librul POV, and simply replaces one 'puritannical' Ideology with another.
The Universities are Left, and should be left to the Left. On the Right, Invisible Colleges and fluid socio-neural are evolving to fill the intellectual vacuum.
4:04 WRONG WRONG WRONG. The French Revolution was the perfect materialization of Neo-Christianity, the direct descendant of Christian radicalism such as the Order of Francis of Assisi and the anti-monarchial champions of the English Civil War. Nothing about it rejected the principles of Christianity-it was the ultimate incarnation of Christian ideology in the observable world. It was as Christian as Neo-Adamism and just as tragicomical. Just because one ignores the superstitious, ghostly aspects of a belief-system does not render one totally apart from it if any aspect of it remains in the makeup of the "New Belief".
I really admire Roger Scruton, though I don’t always agree with him. But as far as his insurmountable problem about culture goes, if Conservatives want to be more part of popular culture, they probably need to write better songs, write better books, paint better pictures, make better films and tell better jokes.

RIP Sir Roger. Our Island is a darker place without you.
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Clarity of thought, deep insight, dignity, and charm. RIP Sir Roger.
Sir Roger Scruton is the most important British philosopher since Edmund Burke.
Listening with another layer of awe to Sir Roger now that he has shuffled off this mortal coil. RIP a great man.

I fear it is far too late. Enemies to the documents are already in place in the corridors of power in DC and beyond... behind the smiles.
@@matthewstokes1608 It's in dire situations that people come out fighting. Don't give up.
It's worst. It's hoping for 1984 and fighting for it in a Brave New World reality
Great discussion
Brilliant!!!
We need this man now.
Make Orwell Fiction Again.
Why _not_ give offence?
I wonder what he would be saying now? Watching what is happening in D.C. Have no idea why once again, not prepared for protesters.

The Anglo-Saxon approach down the centuries is conciliation.....the history of ireland since 1600 AD is a good example of this approach
Do the Irish agree?
RIP sad to hear that he passed away.
Roger, have you ever been sanctioned by the DWP?
Scruton was a true conservative because he wasn't tribal: he hated Trump as much as he hated progressives.
I wonder what his Anglo-Saxon ancestors thought of African humanity for 100s of years before the 1800s in their "dialogues of conciliation". Haha!
Roger Scruton....thought criminal...umm...oh

EXCELLENT
Ennnhhh, weeeee anglooooosaxonnnnnnnhs....
I think the problem is in the perceptual apparatus.
Ben Weingarten is not good enough to match Roger Scruton.
ong valcot ? I don’t think you understand this format.
Judeo-Christian is a contradiction. A philosopher should know something so basic.

We aren't turning on ourselves, we're turning on brown scapegoats
HakWilliams get educated. Please.
