Ferrari 575 DIY Timing Belt Service
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 4 сен 2023
- Our Ferrari 575 had no documentation of the last timing belt replacement, so we wanted to make sure it wasn't going to blow up on us. I bought a timing belt kit from Ricambi America and while doing the timing belt service, ended up fixing a few other items wrong with the car. Overall it wasn't a terribly difficult process but it does take a little bit of nerves. We used Zerex G05 coolant, and Pennzoil Euro Platinum 5w40 oil.
The timing belt kit is here at Ricambi America: www.ricambiamerica.com/575m-m...

This is great. This must be the first and only 575M DIY video on the Internet.
There's certainly not much out there
Hey Dan if you aren’t happy with loosing timing one your timing belts change a old mechanic told me a trick just cut the timing belt with a sharp knife length wise in the middle off the belt slide the new belt over the same as the old belt when it’s on perfectly the same cut the other half of old belt away and slide the new belts one always works with this kind of belts.greets from Holland 🇳🇱
Oh very interesting idea
Interesting. I hope my foggy old brain remembers this tip next time I do one.
Good idea
Loved the special Ferrari tool for holding the flywheel! 😂
Great video!
Lol Ferrari approved.
Even though I'll never have the "opportunity" to DIY anything on a Ferrari, I found this very informative and enjoyed watching. Your narratives and explanations are great the editing, like all your videos, are done very well.
Thank you
I've never seen a car with 2 oil filters. Great video Dan. I love that car and the noise the gated shifter makes.
There's a few Ferraris that have 2 actually. Mostly their older v12s
Easy timing belt in this car, i really like this car, sounds so good and looks great. Good to see you using original good quality UFI oil filters, they are the best. And the kid is so big.. amazing, he was a baby not long ago.
He's a giant. He towers over kids twice his age. Lol
Great work! Admirable, my friend. My skills would be tested by the pollen filter replacement.
Lol it's all good
Yay! timing belts! 🎉
I mean, I guess yay? LOL
I’ve done a LOT of timing belts so I was being silly 🙃 ha
Dear Dan, thank you so much for sharing this with us!! Fantastic! You are a real buddy! You know, I will be picking up my first 575 on saturday, so all information is helpfull! Thank you! I will keep watching your video now 🙂
Congrats!
Congrats on the 575 -- you'll love it!
Great job Dan! Excellent work. Very impressive.
Thank you! Cheers!
Shifter sounds great
Oh yes
As an owner of an ‘05 612, which shares the 575’s powerplant, I love this DIY. Did you see that a factory 6 speed 575 sold for $400k today on BaT?
Geeze that's nuts
Love these videos!
Thank you
Love these videos
Thanks
Great diy video !!! Thank you !!!
Glad you liked it!
Enjoyed that Dan, knew it was going to hard to get that big pully off and on again!, nice job on the heater fix👍🇮🇪
That pulley was the hardest part. The rest wasn't so bad
Way to go man!
Thank you
Good job 👍😀
Thanks 😁
Good job 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks
Great job Dan! Looked like that belt was a royal PITA!
The hardest part was the crank pulley.
@@normalguysupercar Yeah, but that one belt had to come off how many times? That made it a Royal PITA to me.
Well ,,,, you made that all look easy enough !
Yeah... It wasn't. Lol
I’m doing my 4C’s belt next week. So watching your do a V12. Is a good source of inspiration for me. And why did you say He-Man put the oil filter on? Don’t discriminate Dan, it could have been She-Ra….
True. Either way it was on very tight
Nice work ! Ferrari charges so much for that work! Next time I will be brave and have ago !! Cheers Andrew
You can do it!
good job! Dan, I was hoping to be there to help you do that timing belts and probably do the gaskets.😎
Maybe next time? Lol
If it aint broke don't fix it.... very smart move!
I think so.
Great content. It would be interesting to hear how many hours it took you start to finish vs. what a belt service like this would be expected to cost at a reputable independent shop?
It took about 6-8 hours of work
Great job man. As a manual 456 owner, I will be using this video in the future to do my major. Keep up the awesome videos!
How long have you had your manual 575?
We had it about a year
Why is the engine light on? Great video.
It was just some electrical BS that was unrelated
I see that’s my water pump my company manufactures and designed. We designed the shaft seal to be far more robust than stock, using viton material. The prototypes were torture tested for 90 hours straight. Superformance, AW and some others sell them
Very cool!
Omg, that major is huge! What are parts versus parts and labour at the stealership? Thanks for the DYI stuff!
Parts $1500. Probably $4-5k at a dealership all in
"Check engine light is on.... everything is good here!" :)
Lol the light works!
the belts on that V12 are harmonicly tensioned ; you need to set the tensioners manually until the belts resonate to the corect frequency. that being said ; they are just like any other belt on another car ; as long as they are not loose or mega tight ; the fact we are asked to change them so regularly makes them not really an issue on longevity. ( 550 owner here ) ive had E30s with belts 5 times more millages than ferrari tells us to do it ; and some that where close to 15years old not showing any sign of fatigue ( after inspection and replacement preventivly )
Yeah honestly these belts were in perfect condition. But once you're already in there might as well put in the new ones.
@@normalguysupercar so true; every time they look new ... but as you said ; while you're in there ... and considering the cost of parts and or a block ; best not risk it ;)
There is a phone app for the harmonic check that I’ve seen used for Ducati timing belts that use the same method, it seems accurate.
Interesting, I'll have to try that.
Nice job Dan. I see you blurred out the speedometer. 😄
for speed or miles?
Nefarious activities.
I am not a Kennady, but I like it
Thanks!
When I buy it, might get you to do oil etc again, in 6 months ?
I'm not sure why you'd want to change the oil in 6 months unless you've driven it quite a bit.
@@normalguysupercar just to make sure all is ok, as you said didn’t no the service history. Let’s talk when you are ready to sell it. :) one beautiful car, enjoy.
@@RenAndShrimpy I changed the oil in this video. I have some offers on the car already. Feel free to throw your hat in the ring if you'd like.
were you not able to pressurize because the tstat was closed?
That could be.
You fixed the heat, but now your speedometer’s all fuzzy…🤔
Lol damn fuzzy Speedo
I'm sure Ferrari makes a flywheel holding tool. Probably costs a thousand dollars though for something you'll likely only use once.
Yeah I think Hill engineering does
Is this a old video you put 9-23
September of 2023 is this month so???
Lots of grunting removing the oil filters. Not enough for a drinking game.
LOL
Scary! Are any of you guys Ferrari trained? Guess it's your own car, own risk...
Kinda the point of the channel
No I'm not, never claimed to be.
If you feel you need training to change oil and belts then you should probably stay away from car maintenance
@@93LT1RamAirSorry, I thought they were professionals, my mistake 🙁
@@fldiggerI'm ok with my 2001 Toyota, but I'll steer clear of Ferraris, thanks for the advice 😊
if you keep a 575 the license plate better be Haiku
Why Haiku?
Oh, just figured it out. Geeze. I R dumb
@@normalguysupercar not completely obvious but I think it fits.
