    These will be a great treat for Valentine's Day. I see you guys have a Breville Barista Express in your kitchen. Are there any notable aspects of Puerto Rican coffee culture?

      Oh yes! Puerto Rico used to grow a lot of coffee so it’s a big part of our culture. Traditionally coffee is made in a mocha or just boiled in water and strained with a “sock” - piece of cloth. The coffee is much stronger thuan the one that you traditionally get in the US.

    I remember getting these with my abuela growing up! I remember a vanilla flavored one - how would you make that one ? Vanilla pudding instead ? Thank you!!!

    Hii so excited you both came my way. I am half Puerto Rican and Italian born in New York. I was raised with my Puerto Rican deceased mom from 2010 may she rest in peace, if you can imagine my daughter and I miss her Puerto Rican food. As I was growing up I vacated the island many many times. I would love to take my daughter and just go eat besides showing her the beautiful lagoon. I've had the best memories everytime. Sooo my daughter just recieved her Associate's in Culinary yayy so proud of her from " Escoffier". So we are both definitely going to learn and enjoy all your videos ty so much. I have a question I've been wanting to learn how to make Merengue like the one's in P. R. They were made like a biege color. Are you both familiar. They did have a different color was it vanilla not sure. One last question sorry. Do you know how to make Pan de Sal too??? I miss my family. I'm 61 yrs. old and it's me and my daughter left if you know what I mean. God bless you both and family.

      Wow! What a wonderful story - thank you so much for this message. You and your daughter should definitely visit the island soon, there’s nothing like going home. I have made merengues for myself but we don’t have a video for them but I will add that to my list. The vanilla in the mix is what makes it the beige color plus they get a bit crispy in the oven. As to pan de sal, I’m not sure what that bread is like. We have recipes for pan de agua and pan sobao, which are the most common on the island but would love to hear more about pan de sal. I’ve had “pandesal” with my Filipino friends so wondering if it’s similar to that.

    How many does this recipe make?

    • @JeffandJosPuertoRicanKitchen
      @JeffandJosPuertoRicanKitchen  3 года назад

      Depends on how big each service but you can make 8 of the small ones.
