Love the live bait idea. Might have to hit up fish cleaning station next Friday night for some skein when I get up there and toss out a bobber if jigging won’t work.
If you have skiing, that’s always the Plan B. Sometimes it’s more productive than jigging. Sometimes jigging is more productive but jigging is still more fun if your arm doesn’t fall off.
Picked up 3 jigging this year in the PM. Was there labor day weekend and it was empty of boats, but lots of good jigging. Next weekend the lake was full of boats and fish, bite definetly switched to skein. Best year jigging and was using a similar color spoon too! Picked up 3 more up shallow outside the pier heads when the wind let me. Nice video!
Ye the bite was way better before the big pod and extra boats showed up. I went 3 times this year. One was way too soon but there were already some fish around. 2nd time spot on. 3rd time it was loaded and the bite was 100% turned off.
Looks like my old boat. Alumacraft 1860 with prop tunnel. Had a two stroke Mercury 90/65. The transom at the tunnel had an aluminum diamond plate deflector for the jet pump. Nice job on the fish.
Do you think they are in the rivers yet? I know some were in the rivers in august but the heat wave really killed a lot of them so most the guys u know have been sticking to the pier although temps are starting to drop
As of this moment every river has at least a few. Next week should be realy good with it get only getting better over the next several following weeks.
I just got back from Ludington, I was out in a hobie kayak. I didn't enjoy vertical jigging as much. I trolled and only got one king after 5 days up there.
If the bite is turned off, you can jig your arm off for nothing. It takes a little bit to get the rhythm of the jigging down but until you’ve succeeded once or twice it seems impossible lol Trolling in a kayak sounds like a lot of work also. Lol
Its a peddle kayak, Isn't as bad as you'd think. However doing 15+ miles a day was rough 😅 @@ReelMichiganAnglers Glad to see someone getting them though :)
Lol nope. It was Tuesday. Sunday was crazy bad. Watched fish swim up to the jig and get scared away every time on live scope. We did sun up to sundown 4 guys one fish landed and one lost…. It’s been tough.
With a slip bobber rig, you have a knot above a bead that stops your bobber from sliding farther than you want it to. In this case, I tied the knot, too tight in the bead slid over the knot, which created a problem. Normally the bead is supposed to sit on top of the bobber and not get reeled into the eyelets. The knot, however, is supposed to reel through the eyelets and into the spool. Because it decided to orientate itself to the other side of the night created a whole mess at the reel end.
Gotcha thanks! I'm gonna go on my first salmon fishing trip here in the beginning of october just kinda watching some videos and I've never seen a slip bobber setup before! Cheers thanks for replying @@ReelMichiganAnglers

I am using the 20 pound power pro with a 20 pound fluorocarbon leader on the Jiggin rod and 12 pound mono is a 15 pound liter on the bobber rod. As long as your drag is not set too tight, you should be all right with something similar although I would pretty much always recommend 20 pound for kings.

@@samojamo9450 I like 15 or 17 g on the big water. The extra weight gets bait down better in deep water.
