The song is fucking incredible on every level. So many layers in this song. The B3 organ and violins. They don’t sound like Zeppelin they sound like a ton of 70’s bands and blues artists. And bringing all those sounds together to make it their own.
Their first album ,sure, but through the second and now the third album they distanced themselves just enough to be original and different. I like this version of them a lot more personally and cant wait for the full album
@@crystalalivo8060 agree. I'm just tired of hearing the bs they get they are talented and this song speaks volumes and just pure musical joy they put into there music
The song could be considered masterpiece status. It moves me to my core, so much to I find myself sobbing when the chorus melody hits but it’s out of pure joy. No sadness. Everything about this song reaches deep within the soul, for me. I’ve seen GVF live twice in 2018 before they can now book entire stadiums and cannot wait to buy my ticket to their next performance here once we get back to being able to see live music again.
Thank GOD. I thought I was the only one who found their face drenched in tears every time I listen to it. Seriously, this is the fourth time I've listened to this song in the last 30 minutes and from the first note tears just start cascading from my eyes.
Nothing but positive vibes for them, it is easy to see how one can go from a fan to a full blown Industrial AC unit from their incredible style and sounds. Brothers Jake (Guitar) and Sam Kiszka (Bass) (Organ) at times bring similar sounds of BOWIE and Led Zepplin, Alot of voice sounds, finger and hand movements similar Robert Plant of LED ZEPPLIN, Also a bit like sounds of Geddy Lee of RUSH with the "Tom Sawyer" song, and Movements like Freddy Mercury of QUEEN is what you hear and see from GVF. Amazing they are able to bring this to life and now.. From "The Fires 2017", "Anthem Of The Peaceful Army 2018", "The battle At Gardens Gate 2021".

Old geezer here. Nice job reviewing the best rock song I've heard in years. Oh, and the girls like them (and probably some boys too) because they are very, very pretty. (That description of them comes from a cute young girl who works at my gym). 😎
One thing I don’t quite get is when people get shocked or turned off by hearing elements and inspiration of other bands. by the power vested in me by nobody; I say this band will usher the bridging from pop and trap to the era of classic rock. people better adapt or be left behind
The reason this has more of a throwback sound to the last album is because this song was written in the same batch of songs as the bands debut EP and debut full length. “Heat Above” dates back to 2015 And was first performed live in 2016 but didn’t fit with the theme they were going for on the first record so they held it for the second record and brilliantly so
This has to be one of the best songs that’s has been released for a good while. Josh’s voice is so damn smooth. It’s like it’s a dance to him. When he hits the “CAN YOU FEEL MY LOVE…..” I just freaking melt. Pure endorphins. I’d love to get into the music theory behind this.
It's perfect! His growl, the notes he hits, 70s vibes, the journey the song takes you on, it does have zeppelin vibes to me but I don't think he is ripping anyone off.
GVF is a rabbit hole and I'm glad you've fallen down it. Excited to see more reactions to this artist. He's got serious talent. One of my favorites right now is 'light my love' where you can truly get a glimpse of just how far his range can go. For something truly Zepplin-like I think you'd also enjoy " Highway Tune"😄 There are never too many reaction channels on RUclips, in my opinion they are more popular these days then any other type of video and keep RUclips afloat. For anyone saying theyre a led Zeppelin ripoff, this song just shows that isnt so! Theyre clearly influences by so many artists from the 60s through to 80s that you cant put one thing on them. They are a vibe in and of itself. They make you FEEL the music again. Its incredible to hear

I think it's the acoustic break with the two sharp mid notes but that's really all I can hear that's similar between this and Space Oddity. I am not the biggest Fan of this band or new music in general. You know they say that you fall in love with the music from your teens and 20's and that what you generally like for the rest of your life. With that said I FRIGGIN' love this song melodic and hard at the same time the vocals are ridiculous. I haven't bought a new album in 15 years but take my money now!
@@StevenJoseph I've heard a bit of Rush in some of their other songs as well also some Janice Joplin too (though not in this particular song). Bottom line I've heard a multitude of influences in their music. It just seems everyone seems to focus on Zeppelin which seems to me to be short sighted with these guys.
@@freeclimb5487 for sure, but i think its the fact that there are so many zeppelin elements to them, such as his style of singing, the guitar riffs and tone, the drums, the image...its hard to ignore!
@@StevenJoseph I agree on some of their songs that get the most play but then they have songs that sound nothing like Zep that detractors like to completely ignore. This is new album will hopefully give them some distance to those comparisons and start to give rise to their voice as musicians. I seriously didn't get any Zep vibe from any of the three new songs which is good for them. I seriously don't have a problem with the Zep thing because it's still all original music. Bands would kill to be compared to Zep. Bottom line is heaters are going to hate. Chk out this live encore that was filmed at Red Rocks. ruclips.net/video/kLb5okKE4XI/видео.html

You know they say that you fall in love with the music from your teens and 20's and that what you generally like for the rest of your life. With that said I FRIGGIN' love this song melodic and hard at the same time the vocals are ridiculous. I haven't bought a new album in 15 years but take my money now!
Great song, I got a Rush vibe out of this one. No Zep. I'm not getting the Bowie feel he's referencing...
Good call didn't think about the Geddy Lee comparison but you're right
@@StevenJoseph I've heard a bit of Rush in some of their other songs as well also some Janice Joplin too (though not in this particular song).

Agree 100% and I love it
He hits that note LIVE🥰
The organ playing reminds me of prince... dearly beloved
what is amazing about this band, is they give you what you dont expect....yet EXACTLY what you want
Feel good music! You’ve got that right
still a lot of obvious inspirations on this album, but at the same time starting to find their own lane with it. I think it's really cool to have a band like GVF in modern times.
also, I've seen videos of him hitting those notes live. it's very impressive how effortlessly he does it too
Grita Van Fleet is the Soundtrack of my life! I like this rock band! 🎧👋👍🎸🎸🎸
"Total rip-off of space oddity" im not hearing it! can someone explain? What part where?
I do however hear a little similarity to Jason Aldeans the Truth with guitar chord.
I knew these guys were good but when they released that cover of change is gonna come I was blown away. The fact that they writing songs on this level now is amazing
Talk about the engineering! Clear as a bell and nicely separated! Very professional as well as gorgeous!
The new album is coming April 16th. I'll likely be purchasing it.
