I haven't always had the best experiences with MTQ but seeing this revitalises my thoughts on them a lot. Especially if Roothy approves.

It's worth your weight upgrading the bearings to 360 degree thrust. The standard 270 degree are prone to failure

Hello John, what kind of compressorwheel size are you putting in this upgrade turbo?
Are the inturnals like the thrustwasher, upgraded to 360°?
    I love your builds.
    Kind regards.
    Frederik.

odd how there inst a dye penetrant process or at least look at the housings under some magnification, for any of the parts, strictly a visual inspection under no magnification, very weird considering that they are high temp high speed high stress.

awesome. all that cost and trouble to get maybe the same hp as a 4 cylinder nissan diesel and at more fuel consumption ? that's exactly what i want. less power and worse fuel economy than what comes off the shelf. good job roothy. way to promote toyota. old saying, show me a Toyota that doesn't blow and I'll show you a Toyota that doesn't go

You will get over a million ks out of a 12HT motor, your lucky to get a couple of hundred thousand out of a 3lt Nissan hand grenade.

12ht motor in my 60 series gets 650ks to a 60Lt tank of diesel. Direct injection, mechanical fuel pump, no timing belt, every thing about this motor kills the nissan 3lt.

last hand grenade 3 ltr nissan was made in 2003. you're about 13 years behind.... no timing belt either, double row timing chain. So here goes... stock 12ht 100kw and 315 Nm of torque at an average of 12.9 litres per 100k. Stock zd30 common rail 118kw and 380 Nm of torque at an average of 10.9 litres per 100k. I have a steinbauer performance module fitted to my 2011 patrol delivering 141 kw and 456 Nm at around 11.5 litre per 100 for a cost of $1650. In regards to the hand grenade engines they were few. Everyone has the same story... my uncles best friends daughters boyfriends next door neighbors dads boss's landlords high school's principal's secretarys husband had one that blew up. Turns out 50 people on the interweb are talking about the same person that most likely didn't exist. and 9.2 ltr per 100k? You must drive at 40 km/h in third everywhere

You only have to look at the original Milo The motor has nearly one million ks on it. Hes not building Milo 2 for speed, it will be built to last. Something Nissan doesn't know much about.

Sorry mate but only Dislike the Video because MTQ in Sydney offered me no help at all with the same turbo and pump told me that they can't do anything to a 12ht. Best part was they had a 61 on the hoist in there workshop.
There loss as I took my Business elsewhere.
Can't wait to see how it goes when it's all done.

      @JOHNROOTHROOTHY  8 лет назад +2

The original plan was to have her road registered by Chirstmas, but looks like that will slip into January now mate.

yeah I spoke to one of the nick's at opposite lock when they did some work on my Toyota blizzard. They thought it was gonna be a mission. but better to do it right then to have trouble when she's out bush. keep up with the legendary work mate

JOHN ROOTH yes I thought the same as all the information I had that pointed me to MTQ was good but 80% of that was from guys in QLD and all the mags that talked about the good work they do also said Tony in QLD was the guy to talk to.
Can't wait to see how the engine rebuild goes as well.
