  • A visit, in August 1993, to the 15" gauge Steamtown Miniature Railway at Steamtown (Carnforth) in Lancashire. Our loco was Greenly 'Little Giant' class 20 no. 22 PRINCESS ELIZABETH. On shed was 5751 (now at Evesham). This whole railway was sold for export to the USA and ran for the last time here in 2000.
This film replaces two previous uploads from a decade ago that suffered from poor conversion from VHS

1:49 - Ex Blackpool tramway 'OMO' car (for any tram buffs here); I wonder if that's the same one in the Crich collection?

great video, thanks for sharing, i was lucky enough to go on this line a few months before it was closed altoghether, it was a pitty we were a year to late to see the rest of the museum open, i was only 11 at the time. I still go now to carnforth and walk around the back of the old museum and do abit of filming and take pictures when i can but it is quite over grown now and a big metal fence has been put up

I knew the drivers... used to be a train guard on these... at the age of 14 or so. Used to be the only girl in the place but the drivers started teaching me to drive the mini diesels they had. Wasn't allowed to do so with passengers and only with someone else in the cab.... but if it had remained open, I may have been able to learn how do drive the miniature steam ones too. Although I wouldn't be allowed to touch them until I was 17 at the earliest.
