This is really strange. Many people are trolling Tripti for doing films like Animal and Bad newz. But when she was doing films like Laila Majnu, Qala and Bulbbul no one appreciated her. After seeing her in Animal, people have made her national crush.
No one is forcing tripti. When Anushka Sharma was appreciated but called the bubbly girl for rab ne bana di, she didn't like that. She also did badmash company to show her sexy side. Tripti is also doing the same. They want to change their innocent women's image. Anushka was yashraj girl. No struggle at all. But female leads want to look like hollywood actors. No one wants to look like an innocent traditional Indian woman. I don't judge them.

Tabu is a great example of fighting against temptation of glamorous roles. She was not counted among mainstream actresses like Madhuri, Shridevi, Karishma, Rani and so on. She relied on her acting talent. But now, Tabu is the one getting the most limelight out of the 90s actresses.
@@divyam1501 I said she relied on her acting skills, not on glamorous roles like Madhuri, Karishma or other mainstream actresses. She did item songs, but that wasn't her identity. Now she is getting roles for her acting, not glamour.
@@sumitwarvatkar898 Who said women are 50% of cinema audience? It depends on how many women are educated enough to support strong female lead roles. Because there are a lot of women who don't have 'proper' education. They would rather watch women-centric Indian serials in their home, rather than going to theatres and spending money on strong female-centric movies.
I still remember that when Parineeti and Sonakshi first launched, their weight and how they will reduce it was a topic everyone were discussing, even in award shows and interviews. And I was so confused that why are they talking about weights of women who are by no means unhealthy. That's when little old me realized how much Bollywood desires that zero figure. So yes, being sexy and thin is more important for Bollywood than acting.
The fact is Karan johar will never cast Alia Bhatt or jahnvi kapoor for roles like bad newz or even Lust stories. For that he’ll go to kriti sanon, kiara advani and tripti dimri. Why couldn’t have he cast kiara advani or kriti sanaon in Rocky or rani. Alia was ill suited to carry off that kind of role. All of dharma’s b grade projects will go to tripti from now on. Tripti in all the departments scores higher than the nepo kids, looks talent, glamour and is a threat to their PR generated popularity
Kiara Advani is Nepo baby though...she's Juhi Chawla's niece and also connected to the industry in various ways...Alia bhatt did a item song in SOTY2, she also did "Shaandar" with Dharma...
Also another disturbing trend I've noticed is that people like Ileana, Genelia, Tamannah, were supposed to be in their "prime" when they were between 18-25 that's it and if you go back and see the roles they did back then it's just cringey and borderline disturbing.... Overly focusing on their bodies and navel for some random reason and they were romancing actors twice their age back then and now these actresses aren't getting those big movie roles anymore as they're "older" but the old actors who were romancing them are older now, still getting big roles and movies but now romancing actresses even younger than them..... As the age gap widens it's the actresses who are phased out and replaced not the old men
This is more of a telugu industry problem.... I don't see why 2 consenting adults cant be in a relationship regardless of their age.... But only thing we need to keep a watch on is if this is happening too much in favor of other good things like a good story, strong female characters etc....
True when you start doing these kind of roles the every director want to cash in on that she in bulbul was very beautiful in a innocent way but now she looks to plastic
Nawaz isn't national crush because of his acting skills too. I saw a video of him where girls were commenting hame bhi uncle nhin chahiye. Why is Vicky kaushal becoming girl's favourite after his marriage with kat. It's the pre selection mechanism. There was a case in America where a male college student started wearing a ring to show that he's engaged and he started getting h00kups and when he got exposed women were mad coz he wasn't engaged 😂
I think Vidya Balan tried to balance the regressive nature of the male gaze by making it a highlight to watch The Dirty Pitcure and at the same time provided a decent representation of objectificaton of women in her film. It's the perfect balance of making a viewers turn up for a movie then shaming them for their thought process.
Growing up i used to think actresses are mostly dumb for having such small roles. Now maturity is realising the roles are created for them by writers and directors and in some cases even actors ensure the actress dont get any meaty part, at the risk of being overshadowed. Sad truth, and the audience dig it. Its more prevalent in regional cinemas.
Yeah I kinda agree. I used to think that the girls who wear short dress (obviously in films coz ghir k aaspas tab koi short dresses nhi pahanta tha) are dumb. But now I realised that it's how they were represented.... Side effects of consuming films of that time.
There are many feminist writers and directors. Why are they not doing it in male centric films? It's just bcuz women can't do mass/swag dialogues convincingly like men, they can't do action scenes believably like men, they don't age like fine wine like men. Does men get meaty roles in female centric films? No. Then how can you ask for meaty roles for women in male centric films.
To be honest, this approach of Indian cinema will only continue to harm itself. What cringes me the most is that this is the same audience who will cry about Oscar discrimination to india at nights just after watching actors like SRK in Dunki. Can someone really say with their conscience that Srk was okay choice for Dunki. What i laugh more is that this audience even destroyed a talented actor like Hrithik and just made him an eye candy greek God. Anyway, continue to do so as you all wish bcz this wil be the bane of you. And now dont say that you people don't care about Oscars, bcz last year all india was celebrating when RRR won in a minor category like original song.😂😂😂😂
Well you are right but I would say dunki was average in writing too an actor cannot do anything for a film if the writing itself is so medicore srk shined in well written films such as darr, swades and chak de india great acting also comes from great writing but ya you are right it's tiring to see same repeated faces over and over again it's time Bollywood start launching new faces with great writing instead of taking the same actors over and over again it's time that Indian cinema should also market themselves as brand Indian cinema just like Hollywood instead of relying on stardom of a few actors
Damn at least you spoke about it . I feel Tripti dimri is so talented but maybe animal gave her fame but we all know it was sadly not for her acting skills😢. And are these producers and actors still in 2010s era I mean wtff.
The hindrance between fame and women is just her clothes. Unfortunately that's how the market is functioning. You can be Nandita Das, Minal Rohit or PV Sindhu but they will be never rewarded or celebrated. Still moral policers will question why are women exposing too much these days. But they are the ones who are getting rewarded.
I have a huge respect for a star like Vijay Sethupathi decided to not romance with young ladies and unnecessary catering for those male Gazes. That should be an example for all male stars in Indian Cinema.

This is why I am happy about the success of anushka and sai pallavi and other malayalam actresses too . Though anushka did commercial roles but her main success is because of her roles like arundhati , dhamarukam , bhagamathi , bahubali , and sai pallavi for shyam singh roy , love story , premam , ramayan too . Honourable and most important example is Soundarya too . If she is alive still then i think sridevi would have had a tough competetion in acheiving superstar tag . The genre of movies soundarya chose are much relatable to daily life women then / about daily struggles of a women but still respecting men . It never felt as an insult to men too in these movies like ammoru , antahpuram. 100% agree to your point jammy .No hate . Peace 🙌🙌
In ammoru, she was so naive and was getting tortured by villains most of time. In padayappa, she plays innocent, homely girl who's too shy to propose her lover. In Antapuram, her acting was terrible than jyotika's acting in chandramuki.
I was a tripti fan before animal was released. I loved her in bulbul and qala. But highly disappointed by her recent choices. But you have a point jammy. This is reality. The ideal is difficult to pursue.
'Animal' made Tripti Dimri an overnight star.. pretty similar to what happened with Mallika Sherawat after 'Murder' (2004). The only difference is that in 2004, erotic scenes were taboo.. and now, they are normal. Also, Mallika Sherawat wasn't supremely talented.. Tripti Dimri, on the other hand, is genuinely talented. I think she will move past her sex symbol image.
Tbh tripti in Animal was not that objectified compared to actresses who have butt and boob zoom shots, tripti played like a normal spy in Animal, it's not even close to what other actresses do on screen

Same thing applies to jaggi.. if he says what he says naturally it's good but most of the time he says what sells or telling lies to market himself or taking sides of political parties for his safety and advantage then at those times jaggi should introspect
I found Tripti from Qala. I found her talent amazing. And I wanted to see her succeed, get more recognition. She is doing that with projects like Animal and Bad Newz. These are big projects that will let the world know of her. I wish her all the best. With some commercial success and such wide exposure, she can find more opportunities to showcase her acting. It is up to her. I hope she succeeds.
Jammy bro you are spot on with this one. Tripti is having a dream run with slated big budget movies. Don't jinx it.
I don't think you understand what this means for Tripti. She is no longer seen as an actor but a temporary cash cow. The sooner she hits a certain age or even tries to do a role which actually requires good acting and less objectification, you will see her die out. That's not a good thing

The problem is 3 fold in telugu Industry. Its director, producer and the actor. The ranking changes as per each individual's popularity but content remains the same.No wonder you dont see any telugu actresses in telugu cinema, even supporting characters has become a rarirty😢
I think we shall not address any of this song as telugu industry song.. then Vicky song should we call Hindi song.. it seems like we are type casting all telugu songs.. just clarifying not to offend..😊
I have always believed Animal portrayed Tripti as an object only and because of that i hate that movie! She is famous only because of that semi nude scene! Tripti has more potential as an actress and not just as an object! This is the dark reality of the film industry who are giving lectures on morals and women empowerment but they do not have 1% of it in their egoistic life! They treat the actress only as eye candy!
As long as we are a sexually repressed nation, these kind of sleazy cinematic gate-aways will remain the preferred outbursts of the masses !!! No point in blaming anyone (nor the actors, nor the producers, nor the audience) !!! At present the best we can do, maybe, is to not let the gender bias and discriminations increase in mainstream !!!
Sadly, that's the reality. When several years and works don't fetch you your deserved credit, you'll have to give up some or all of your conscience. Let's hope that all the actors who are currently doing roles just for a few quick bucks return to doing what they are actually capable of and meant for, and not get stuck in one place.
This is exactly my thoughts after watching Jaanam.... Tripti is an amazing actor and i am happy that she is getting a such big commercial films... But i am feeling sad for the "reason" she got popular...many of my friends know her because of Animal and it's tiring to explain them that she is not just that .. there is a more to her beyond doing steamy scenes... I hope she gets a big commercial film where she is doing a role with more substance and more people should get know about the kind of actor she is 🤞❤️
The biggest culprits are the fans who blindly supports their hero irrespective of the quality, they just hype their hero at any cost. When that mask is removed every one feels the same way you feel.
Can we also just talk about how women have to essentially starve themselves to achieve a body that fits the bill of a commercial film heroine? Whereas Men are just told to bulk up. I have no idea which one is worse, but I imagine the one that tends you leave with less energy after a shoot is worse.
Women don't have to starve, they just have to avoide fatty foods and do excersie. Whereas men have to lift heavy weights and do all kinds of workouts daily.
Thanks for the deep and dark social message. We have been going through this from the beginning of this industry and kept modifying and coming up with new ideas. The impact on society of these we can easily see around us.
I hope after few commercial movies like this Tripti will choose roles which showcase her talent as an actress. As of now it is good to utilize the fame she got through Animal. Because that's how this industry work.
I think her career will be finished in few years. She's a hypocrite. She did feministic films like bulbul and then did Animal. She is ready to strip for money, she'll do any role if she is given money. That means she just cares about money, more than doing good films. I hate when jammy potrays her like a victim.

Tripti Dimri is such a great actor, I have seen her in movies like Bulbul and Qala where she literally carried the whole movie on her shoulder, also both the movies had such amazing actors in it, but Tripti stood out. In a movie like animal, she was noticable again but for all the wrong reasons. It is sad to see how performing obscene scenes made her famous whilst she is fully capable of "acting".
Kudos to you Amol, for striking the right chord!! The onus is not on the actors or producers....it's on the audience to stop making such visuals a Hit...everything boils down to commercials in the end...I was horrified to see Disha patani in Kalki, couldn't imagine she was the same girl i saw in MS Dhoni where she had similar screen time but an unforgettable presence!!
I can only think of Kajol as successful actress in Bollywood who hasn't had to cater to male-gaze (if I'm not wrong). She had a huge commercial success but I can't think of a single time she had to do sexual scenes or an item song and she still made it big (maybe Karan Arjun but she didn't have explicit scenes?). Rani and Vidya as well, even though they have done item songs. Amazing actors like Tabu and Kangana had to do unnecessary sexual and vulgar scenes in the films Paandurangadu and Rascals, etc. I guess it's a sad reality for actresses.
kajol was a nepo kid. forgive me for my youth but i dont think back then ppl were this casual abt sexual potrayal...that's why she works. also kajol was mosttly doing clean comedy, romance or just rom coms....again, in a society when s3x is taboo, she got away with it. also being close frnds with Kjo and srk, made sure she could have her picks. society has changed and we ain't making clean comedies anymore....i think that era was her major advantage alongside her frnds and family ofc.
@froggywithaheart Yes but back then, sexual scenes meant small role and lots of dancing. Nepo kids like Karisma and Raveena relied on dancing and songs more than acting abilities while Kajol was the only one who didn't need item songs to become famous. And Srk and Karan were beginners, not established stars. Kajol and Srk became famous together first with Baazigar and then DDLJ. Kajol was a big star before Karan even came into the industry. She didn't need them to become famous
Great video btw :) Maybe Tripti Dimri is trying to do something similar to Margot Robbie (i.e. do commercial movies (Animal vs Wolf of Wall Street)) in the beginning of her career to get more recognition. That way in the future, she can do films that have both a commercial reach and have content the crux of the story.
Man, this might have been the best one out there from your channel Jammy! Such an intricately weaved video. I don't comment but this time I had to. Agree on all your points, bow down to you!
The boom of OTT which should have been a shining light for underrated artists(writers, actors etc) has been made to look like a segregation between cinema and “commercial” cinema. If you know that the movie isn’t going to be an all out entertainer, release it on OTT, that’s the place for nuance audiences and true cinema.
I would say Hollywood is way ahead of us, what do we have in the name of commercial cinema? Action movies or action comedies that too are badly done. Whereas look at the commercial cinema of Hollywood and korea action adventures, fantasy movies, super hero movies, fairy tales, zombie movies, post apocalypse movies, slashers etc... rock's jungle cruise was panned by critics, now imagine if something like that was made in india..people would go crazy for it.
@@raja-jl9osI understand, Hollywood is way ahead and will always be ahead in that regard. Korean movies and series have been garnering praise world wide(mostly in India) since the OTT boom.
@@raja-jl9os For Korean cinema, I would say that, it’s way ahead in terms of story telling, but not in terms of CGI and VFX. But their audience might also be more “tolerant” towards those type of stories. I don’t expect a country where last year movies like Gadar 2, Jawab, Pathan, Animal etc were breaking records and getting praised to suddenly turn to telling more nuance stories. Businessmen won’t upgrade their products if they are being sold like hot cakes every time. Pathan - Mediocre. Jawan - Mediocre. Animal - s***. Gadar 2 - Animal * 10000 Those are my ratings for some of highest grossing Bollywood movies of last year. BUT WILL ANYONE CARE?!! No, simple because these were “profitable” products.
@@raja-jl9os And also, we(most Indians) consider Hollywood to be the best, regardless of what they provide. We come from a country where speaking in English equates to being educated, how can we expect to be competing with others when we ourselves are just stuck in our mindset’s.
Huge fan and yet another wonderful essay. As you’ve aptly put, your audience including myself form less than a minority of Indian cinema viewers, almost a niche one may say. Between inflation and the burgeoning divide between OTT vs Cinematic content, we as audiences will further prove to be treacherous, choosing style over substance instead of maintaining a balance between both types of content. Take for example Kill, which is honestly a very universal concept albeit executed with ingenuity. If that can’t despite global accolades, can find the box office support it needs to make it a success and change the face of action cinema in India, then Baaghi 4 is probably what we deserve.

On behalf of many women, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for this clever contribution.
A much needed topic of conversation. I have observed for a long while that the upcoming actresses start their journey with less than mediocre roles sexy dance partners to the leading, dashing savior-"the hero". When they have established themselves in the industry, they experiment with indie films, and female-centric movies where they get that meaty role that actually demands of their acting potential. They shine no doubt but the openings and the kind of audience they are catering to are not enough to sustain their jobs. They need to create a balance among item numbers, commercial glam doll roles and small interesting projects. I always questioned their roles in Telugu cinema but now looking at the scarcity of their appearances, and lack of storylines for strong / impactful characters in the female domain( not only the lead but all the female character artists are confined to do is cry while their husband commands, shower love or stay mum while the husband deals with stuff smh) it is evident that they are making bread of what is available. Hey @TriedRefusedProductions, I'm not trying to throw any shade here, but I do acknowledge what you said in this video. You pointed out that Indian cinema often caters to the male gaze and portrays female leads as objects to look at. However, I can't help but notice that the thumbnail you chose for this video seems to do the same thing. When you ask when Indian cinema will change, it might be worth considering how the visual elements we choose, like thumbnails, contribute to the same issues.
You have sprung up a valid point here. I had been judging women for their choices of films that they chose. To be honest, I didn't even know that commercial movies would boost their career. I hadn't really given it a thought either! It does seem enticing to get your fame boosted. I have nothing to really say there because the male/female audience itself is very skewed in terms of thoughts concerning women, their body and their sensuality. For the commercial movies to amend their ways, a massive amount of change must hail from the viewers themselves - men/women both. Will they ever change their ways of thinking ?
Always thought-provoking takes here! I agree with the best point you made that we shouldn't criticize Tripti (or other actresses like her) for taking these roles. I thought she was great in Bulbul and Qala but I respect her choice to do the more glamourous/high profile roles like Animal (which I chose not to watch) and Bad Newz which I will see for sure because of the cast and honestly both of these videos were fun. Tauba Tauba is one of the best choreographed and danced songs to come out in ages. I found the second video OTT but I was also kind of glad that they were pushing the envelope and having fun with sex on screen. Hollywood has become so prudish and we're just now coming back from that period. I kept thinking about NIcola Coughlan and her great comments on her nude scenes in Bridgerton and how she wanted to be able to look back and remember how hot she was! Let's also think a little outside the male vs. female gaze and think about how sometimes straight women like myself also want to see sexiness and beautiful women in glamourous clothes on screen as an aspirational kind of thing and because we can have girl crushes, too! Yes, the male-dominated context of Hindi cinema and the flower pot roles get tired but I also want to suggest that Tripti and Yami (outside of actual #metoo situations) are making their own choices and I respect them both for doing it the way they want. Both are doing fine and will most likely continue doing well in the industry. Also, you could do this same video but talk about how young male stars also have to present (physically and heteronormatively) in certain ways early in their early career in order to achieve lasting commercial success (and I think you may have done this already actually somewhere).
Yeah, it is a well-respected phrase but always given to other characters who are not protagonist or antagonist. I just realized it is given to male actors more than female as i can't remember any female actors who has been given the character actor title.
very nice video👏👏 hats off to u! very few ppl n much less men talk abt this. the sheer amount of objectfication of women that happens in indian movie industries is apalling! this is very much rooted in d indian patriarchy that still very much exists. d very ppl who want d society to change n talk abt feminism end up catering to d 'male gaze' through their work. but are the first to taunt patriarchy when someone else even remotely experiences sexism. why this hypocrisy?? why not question the elephant in d room itself? if all these actresses dont unite n start a movement to end objectification of women across movie industries then nothing will change. i know its easier said than done but someone in d drain itself should take an initiative to clean it up, cos as a women im seriosuly fed up of seeing so much sexism, even if i dont actively see it. thats d reason i've always been careful of what i watch since forever. as audience i have lost faith that such things will ever get boycotted. it wont cos our soceity itself is patriarchical. so i hope d movement starts from within d industry n hope this disrespect n manhandling of an entire gender thats been happenning for decades comes to an end. (p.s. im not against item songs. i dont mind d latkas jhatkas n d thumkas. i have a problem with objectifying a women like d actors groping or sleazily touching d heroine's body or camera zooming in on their privates or dressing the actress in obscenely vulgar clothes etc)
Salute to Jammy to point out such a harsh reality of Indian Cinema... commercial Indian cinema won't change at all w.r.t women character and male gaze... such a shame... When #BadNews second song released.. It reminds me #AashiqBanayaAapne vibe and why it is needed in this era... feel really bad for the food on table which was terribly wasted.. There is no fault of actress here, they are here to earn money and this gives them instance fame and luxurious deals which helps them financially.. but here the makers need to re-think about there approach... I remember, in one of #KJo interview with #AnupamaChopra, he highlights that, he is not proud of #ChikniChamili after years since it is objectifying women and at that time and he won't do it again in future and be very thoughtful.. but he is now in the same people to cash #Tripti in this way..
Thank you so much for talking about this. I wonder what kind of socially acceptable norms are we creating for the future generations to follow! The worst part is if people point these trends out as unacceptable they are called old school. Women need to stop accepting the set standards for their success and career in any field for that matter. I think one should remain true to their art instead of falling for these predicaments for short term glory (as rightly said by Yami).
It felt something really weird when i saw the music video of Vicky Kaushal and Tripti Dimri but I just couldn't contemplate what it was and here you are once again putting all of that into words My own thoughts were put into words in your video Thank you❤ Kudos to you👍
Its everywhere be it hollywood, hindi cinema and South Indian film industry and films of other states. Margot robbie literally started her career from wolf of wall street to make a name. Then Florence pugh in oppenheimer( which was unnecesary). So its everyewher since the inception of cinema. Vijay Sethupati has balls to call out working with actresses half their age in Tamil films and nobody supoorting his opinion shows where the Telugu, Kannada or Tamil Film industry is leading to ! Malayalam industry is the one giving chance to female actresses for real acting talent and not just show ! Hope the industry change their mindset again !
Most of the People don't associate heroism with female leads unless the movie is about a real life personality, so makers use them as the eye candies in their movies.
@@kurita237 no she hasn’t got success when she tried something out of her comfort zone, NH10, Pari, Zero, Harry sejal, Philori all box offices disasters. Anyway she is not that capable actor.
I'm a sucker for commercial movies and chartbuster songs. But I'll be lying if say I don't feel uncomfortable when I see such scenes and shots only catering to the male gaze. It's almost disrespectful. Don't get me wrong, I love when artists look hot and desirable on screen. I think that's an art too. But I can clearly differentiate between when it's enteraction between characters and when it's trying to stir up a specific audience to get more eye balls. Also now we tend to be so "inclusive" about how people look on and off screen but there's no practical change in real life.
Very good analysis Jammy ! I think the times are changing albeit slowly. I like how Alia has chosen her roles - drug addict in Udta Punjab, her producing Darlings and also leading Gangubai and Raazi from the front. Raazi in particular is quite heroic. Of course, Vidya Balan, Tabu have also been taking up really interesting stories and roles. Yami has really taken some good scripts post pandemic. The more audience comes to watch an actress perform and act and not just the typical body show - the roles will change accordingly. After all cinema is a mirror to the audience's demands.
I love the fact that you brought this industry trend forward.... Ppl notice it a lot but no one talks about it Very good work man👍🏻👍🏻 But i feel better stories always stay with you longer.... I love kareena as geet better than in tashan. One can show as much skin as they want but nothing beats a soulful performance
I am just happy to see Tripti getting these opportunities, she is talented and amazing ! If this gives more exposure and future where she can choose the script on her own terms, then why not ? More power to her !
Hey buddy you do an awesome job at speaking about the dichotomies of the film industries. Me being a physician I can understand the pain on how certain things and mindsets work in this world and tbh we should blame our ancestors for what the world is today and how in general the thought process is in this world. I would highly suggest you to continue doing the good work and become the medium of communication for people like us! On a side note- why have you stopped giving reviews on international movies and shows like you used to?
In the Tamil movie industry, it was Jayalalitha who romanced MGR, a man literally her father's age. Back then, viewers criticized her when rumors flew about her being in love with him. To this day, even after her demise, people still point fingers at her. Didn't the grown man MGR know better than a young Jayalalitha? Regardless of the industry, women are still often treated as props in movies. While the situation is better today, we still have a long way to go to make the movie industry inclusive for all, regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, or caste. If we continue to talk about these issues, call out wrongdoing, and point in the right direction, a better future looks possible, even though it might still be far away.
People always point finger at second woman is men life. Becouse they always says she become 2nd woman in man life after knowing he was a marride man with kids. In their eyes man is dum enough not to know what he is doing is wrong. He was a victom and the 2nd woman is a witch and do kala jadu to control man. I become vary big fan of amma jayalalitha after reading about her achevment, i am not indian.
Thanks for saying this Jammy. Paradox is when some people criticise movies like Kabir Singh and Animal but they ignore the condition of commercially success actors and what you mentioned in this video.
Also the picturization of these songs I believe is causing the stir. Item songs are a whole different category, but we had Kat, DP, PC, Kareena do all sorts of glam songs but those, atleast from what I can recall, where mostly shot 'romantically' (As I typed this, I recall DPs Dum Maroo Dum and how audience crapped on the visuals and lyrics) . But Tripti featuring in like back to back 'suggestive songs' might be reason for this online discourse since its quite fresh in audiences mind.
Women in India? Bro Hollywood actors like Tom Cruise literally kiss actresses half his age, forget kiss scenes they are literal sex scenes with huge age gaps, Hollywood is known for these kinds of stuff, but I agree that we need to change a lot

Love the commentary Jammy. Keep doing what you really doing. Here’s a perspective from a 24 yo who grew up super sheltered from all kinds of information about sexuality but seeked it out anyway. Items songs were meant for the male gaze but they are oddly empowering because the item song is usually the only part of the film where the female lead/female character has the agency and does what she wants (see sheila ki jawani, munni badnam, laila mai laila, aisa jadoo, shut up and bounce). Here sexuality is a choice and she is proud of it. And it is socially acceptable for her to be proud of her sexuality in that context. Sure the male gaze is what it is catering to but item songs also cater to girls who turn to them for a moment of feeling sexy and desirable when social pressure is to always present as susheel and sanskari. There are very few other avenues to explore sexuality commercially and the people who don’t have the luxury of education and non judgemental sex education do tend to find some solace in representation of a sexually unrepressed woman even if perverted. To me, item songs seem to exist in a nebulous zone somewhere between perversion and empowerment. Would love to hear your opinion on this too since you’re way closer to the industry than me
this is an awakening video for sure. I really feel if the lyrics and music is good people tend to like it.. eg: blockbuster, this song shows no vulgarity still tops the chartbuster...
I think why we feel internally displaced by Tripti’s objectification in Animal and Bad News is because she set the acting bar really high for women in the industry and then stooped low for her commercial movies. Justifying her recent choices is like justifying casting couch for a couple of good roles. Look what happened with Bhumi Pednekat. People loved her authenticity in her acting while she did movies with a strong message. The moment she decided to look, move and act like a successful commercial actress, she lost all the fan following and sadly her fans’ respect at the same time. Unless you’re honest to your craft, the audiences can look straight into your soul and reject you either when they’re bored of you or when they see your dishonesty towards your talent.
But the point is, those movies earned her praise from critics not money. Tripti has talked about it in an interview before that how even after doing movies like Laila Majnu and Bulbul, she decided to quit the industry and go back to her hometown because she had no money to continue living in Bombay. Honestly, can't blame her. It's already 10 years she been in the industry doing roles here and there. If she cannot even afford to live in the city to continue her work, what else can she do?
This is really strange. Many people are trolling Tripti for doing films like Animal and Bad newz. But when she was doing films like Laila Majnu, Qala and Bulbbul no one appreciated her. After seeing her in Animal, people have made her national crush.
let her experiment. Let her find her voice. She's just started! I wonder why people want to gate keep her choices

Tabu is a great example of fighting against temptation of glamorous roles. She was not counted among mainstream actresses like Madhuri, Shridevi, Karishma, Rani and so on. She relied on her acting talent. But now, Tabu is the one getting the most limelight out of the 90s actresses.
Tabu also did cringe item numbers in Telugu
Tabu is not cute or bubbly like those other actresses.
See my biggest question is if women/ girls are 50% of cinema audience why don’t they atlest support strong female lead roles in movies?
@@divyam1501 I said she relied on her acting skills, not on glamorous roles like Madhuri, Karishma or other mainstream actresses. She did item songs, but that wasn't her identity. Now she is getting roles for her acting, not glamour.
@@sumitwarvatkar898 Who said women are 50% of cinema audience? It depends on how many women are educated enough to support strong female lead roles. Because there are a lot of women who don't have 'proper' education. Why couldn’t have he cast kiara advani or kriti sanaon in Rocky or rani. Alia was ill suited to carry off that kind of role. All of dharma’s b grade projects will go to tripti from now on.
As the age gap widens it's the actresses who are phased out and replaced not the old men
sad sad reality yes!
This is more of a telugu industry problem.... I don't see why 2 consenting adults cant be in a relationship regardless of their age.... But only thing we need to keep a watch on is if this is happening too much in favor of other good things like a good story, strong female characters etc....

I don't know why people are so against tripti working in a glamorous commercial movie. A creator/artist would never want to be get gate keep. Is this a drastic change in the type of movie she used to do? Yes! But is it wrong? Definitely not. Let the actor fly, let them taste success too.

There was no item number or male gaze scenes in Animal.

In Kalki, I couldn't take my eyes off her two beautiful eyes 👀
Great video btw :)
Maybe Tripti Dimri is trying to do something similar to Margot Robbie (i.e. do commercial movies (Animal vs Wolf of Wall Street)) in the beginning of her career to get more recognition.
@@raja-jl9os
For Korean cinema, I would say that, it’s way ahead in terms of story telling, but not in terms of CGI and VFX.
Gadar 2 - Animal * 10000
Those are my ratings for some of highest grossing Bollywood movies of last year. BUT WILL ANYONE CARE?!!
No, simple because these were “profitable” products.
@@raja-jl9os
And also, we(most Indians) consider Hollywood to be the best, regardless of what they provide.

Hey @TriedRefusedProductions,
I'm not trying to throw any shade here, but I do acknowledge what you said in this video.
You truly inspire me to think deeply about topics that we generally don't discuss as an audience.
3:25 Historically, ‘character actor’ is the very good actor who’s not vanilla or inoffensive to be the main lead.

That edit where jammy explains male gaze was so hilarious, didnt expect that!!😅😂
Matlab (hindi) ❌ mhanje ✅ (Marathi)
Matlab (urdu) = Arthat ( Hindi)
You are so correct in finding the themes for your videos ....
Women in India? Bro Hollywood actors like Tom Cruise literally kiss actresses half his age, forget kiss scenes they are literal sex scenes with huge age gaps, Hollywood is known for these kinds of stuff, but I agree that we need to change a lot
Nothing is going to change. Women in the entertainment industry won't mind doing anything on and off the screen to get a chance.
@@Jj-ds3cpwon't mind? They literally sell their souls bro
@@dark_.x.soulll women accept those roles, all these ppl do is selective feminism, even actresses who have rich families do these scenes, its not about money but attention, blaming men for everything is a norm now, its not even about the gender tbh, human nature is the problem
@@Jj-ds3cp you sound like Qala's sub plot right now
Nope tom cruise doesn't romance actresses less than half his age... They may be younger but never as young as these indian actors romancing their twice as young or less than twice as young actresses
@1:37 epic 😂😂😂😂
Just loved this bit!
Awesome!
