  • This video demonstrates how to build a useful PC out of used and salvaged parts. As usual for me, the build is based on a Haswell-era Dell motherboard, specifically from an Optiplex 7020.
The Harbin Repairs adapters (github.com/Har...) allow a Dell motherboard to be installed in a standard ATX or Micro ATX case. As I mention in the video, the original versions are designed to hang off the edge of the motherboard, which prevents their use in some cases. I redesigned them to avoid this issue, and you can find the updated designs here: github.com/dav...
From reviewing the video, I think I forgot to mention one necessary component, which is the motherboard to SATA power cable assembly, Dell part number CR9TD. You can find these on EBay for about $7.

This is why we open source our stuff! It's really cool to see others making changes and improvements for their case.

Wow, I was not expecting this! Thank you so much for making your designs open source. I plan eventually to revise the designs again to sort out a couple of minor issues. But none of this would have happened without your original effort. It's so satisfying to keep useful Dell motherboards out of landfills.
