      Dang @blueshirt- you have no idea how much I appreciate that comment….SERIOUSLY! I was literally sitting here listening to old jazz albums wondering why I’m making these videos. Not on some negative state of mind type stuff- just contemplating, ya know? Here comes your comment and my whole state of mind has been uplifted. I appreciate you taking the time to pass on some positivity. I’ll keep doing the best I can to honestly speak on my experiences with the products I review. Thanks again homie! 🤟🏼✌🏼

    Nigel, was wondering how this fared with your glasses? I honestly will spend the $50 on the prescription insert lenses but was curious. Great video.

      Hey Michael, thanks for stopping by! Surprisingly well, albeit at a loss of FOV (field of view). You may know this already, but there are three adjustment levels with this new headset that allow for additional clearance between your glasses and the headset lenses. With each additional step, you lose a bit of FOV, but to what degree, I don't actually know. I can say that it is noticeable. With regards to comfort alone, I might go as far as to say this is the first headset that didn't make wearing my specs in VR a hassle at all. Your results may vary depending on frames, of course, but you can see what I'm working with in the video. If you are anywhere within that size, you are good!!
      Thanks for taking the time to comment, Michael! I appreciate it, brother!

    Hey Nigel, great review - nicely filmed and editied too. Going back to the space issue, our internet is pretty slow at home - what is the max size of games on the store? I can handle a 1GB download, but much more and it gets frustrating to uninstall/re-install games all the time. Do you think its worth getting the larger capacity? Or will the 128GB still have enough for say 30 odd games? I intend on playing PC VR with it too. Cheers! Keep the videos coming!

    • @NigelWorkman
      @NigelWorkman  Год назад +1

      Thanks so much for stopping by, Dan! That’s a great question- I hadn’t really considered the constrains one might be dealing with in the internet/data side of things, and how that might affect the ability to swap games easily. The size of the games vary- anywhere for 5/600 MB all the way to 3 GB (from what I’ve seen) One important thing to note is that these newer/upgraded experiences are certainly going to come at increased file size and if that ends up being the case- the 30 games you had might end up being 10, you know? If downloading beyond 1gb is issue, I would definitely recommend getting the 512. It’s pricey, but maybe someone in your situation would appreciate just adding games as you go rather than constantly having to clear up space. I’m glad you brought this up, Dan. I think this will help quite a few people! Appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment!! I enjoyed thinking over this one! Take care, Dan! ✌🏼

    Ok, question from a Vr non participant who after watching this and considering.....$ Why? I love the idea of physical participation in the playing of these games. That I can do. So, the question. Do you ware your glasses while playing? If so how comfortable are they?

    • @NigelWorkman
      @NigelWorkman  Год назад

      Ya, I have to wear mine, and they did a great job of accommodating those of us that do need to use them. The facial interface has adjustable depth which will allow for some pretty chunky specs inside the headset. As far as comfort- there will be a little pressure added to the side of your head if wearing glasses inside, but I don’t think it affects the overall comfort in any meaningful way. We are all shaped a bit different though, so your mileage may vary! ✌🏼

    • @NigelWorkman
      @NigelWorkman  Год назад

      You make a really good point here, Electrical- I didn’t mention the PC side as my trusty 1080ti decided to die on me recently. Now depending on which set you are currently using (if at all) I think there is a strong case for using this with your PC, just based on my standalone exp. This thing sports a pretty nice resolution that I think would still require a nice GFX card if you are running higher game settings. Another thing is FOV- it isn’t as high as other PCVR headsets, but 110 deg is nothing to scoff at- still a nice wide image IMO. Most importantly, it’s still cheaper than most PCVR headsets. Last of all, if you so choose, this one can go mobile! I know that the quality of the visuals may be a little underwhelming to those who have been using high-end PCs to run their VR, but the fact that it has been able to achieve the level of Fidelity that it has without the assistance of any external resources, is pretty crazy! Hope that helps! Also, thanks for taking the time to comment- I really appreciate it! ✌🏼

      Dude, how is it obvious!? 😂 there are countless headsets available for PCVR! At any rate, I want to make sure I give you an answer that actually applies, so i tend to avoid assuming anything. That said, if you are only using it on the PC, although the difference would certainly be noticeable, I don’t see it being worth the 500$ unless you plan on utilizing it as a standalone as well. Then again, that also depends on your finances- 500 might be peanuts to you, in which case- why the heck not!! Best of luck to you in the process and I hope wherever you end up it makes you happy! ✌🏼

    My quest 2 is almost full with bonelab and it’s many mods and just vrchat and beatsaber and blade and sorcery, (plus questcraft) and with quest 3s higher quality, I’m sure the games will get bigger files, so I’ll be going with that

    My first VR headset despite following the VR sonce Oculus dev kit 1. The displays are perfectly sharp but many apps and games are not updated to new resolution which is a real shame. So far ive been enjoying many hours in Pokerstars (Vegas infinite) its the best free stationary game for me along with Bigscreen cinema. I am very happy I skipped Quest and Quest 2 to start at this point. Real shame about the comfort and accessories needed to truly enjoy this tech. Once 3rd parties release all their accessories my £480 purchase turns into £700 and thats a hard pill to swallow.

      Hey Filip, I’m happy to hear that you are having a mostly positive experience so far. You aren’t wrong about the additional accessories that you might have to buy (and they aren’t cheap) I personally am pretty satisfied with the comfort of the headset in stock form. I will say, the elite strap makes it much easier to swap between users quickly, but at 70 dollars I can’t say that I’d recommend it. I have a pile of accessories here that I was planning on reviewing this weekend but I couldn’t seem to get this video done fast enough, so it will have to wait. Which accessories were you planning on purchasing?

    I still find VR a little gimicky and after a month or 2 people tend to let the collect dust. I find that there isn't enough AAA groundbreaking content for them. Even though the VR market has been pretty big since around 2016. I am tempted by the Quest 3 but find that i'll love it for a month then shelf it. I've had the privilege of using the HTC Vive and Pro, Index, and others but still feels a bit far off.

    • @NigelWorkman
      @NigelWorkman  Год назад +1

      Hey Chazbino, I think you make a very valid point here- I myself have also been in that position several times. I tend to not have much time for games these days (sadly) and when I do, I like to get into something that will really WOW me, BUT when said experiences are unavailable, to the shelf you go! I have been back and forth with VR since the original Vive and have had many amazing experiences- but I’ve also had a lot of downtime. Not sure quite yet if this will be the one to keep me hooked or not. Suppose that will be up the Devs and what sort of games/experiences are on the horizon. 🤞. Thanks for taking the time to leave that comment- I think that was a really great point to bring into the mix! Take care Chaz!! ✌🏼

    • @NigelWorkman
      @NigelWorkman  Год назад

      Dang, Prodigy- I don’t know how, but I hadn’t even considered that possibility. I think that is a really difficult question, actually- is but not because they are so similar, rather, they are soooo different! They both offer a features that wouldn’t be possible on the other- number one being the portability of the quest, and we definitely don’t want to forget the inclusion of mixed reality. On the other hand, there is additional tech in the PSVR that really helps to enhance the gaming experience, such as the eye tracking, or the amazing haptics of the controllers. I really enjoy the flexibility of the quest, But to me, I have never had an experience on that headset that made me feel as awestruck as something like call of the mountain did. On the other hand, you could always connect the quest up to a high-end PC and enjoy the best of both worlds. We could probably list off countless reasons why a person should pick one over the other but I think the few that I listed up above are a good starting point. Hopefully that was in some way helpful to you and will allow you to make a choice that you’ll be happy with! Thanks so much for stopping by and taking the time to leave a comment. Hey mega, I did mention the battery life, I just based it off of my experience rather than what others are saying. As far as the dead pixels, I wasn’t aware of that problem- If they were present in mine, I would have certainly mentioned it. There will likely be many flaws that surface overtime and if I make a follow up video I will definitely list those. This is a review of MY first week with it, Mega- not a list of bad experiences and hardware failures listed online. Maybe get one and try it for yourself? See who you actually agree with? @@NigelWorkman I don't have that kind of money for my entertaiment "needs", i still have a rift s that works just fine. It's not so much as what others are saying, 2 hours of use and no way to recharge on the go is ridiculus for that pricepoint. Dead pixels is not a flaw, but faulty manufacturing. You can spot them easily but looking at black or white backgrounds.

    • @NigelWorkman
      @NigelWorkman  Год назад +1

      I hear ya man. Totally understand why a person would want to be aware of those flaws before purchasing. Especially since if it turns out that the dead pixel situation is a mass problem across all devices rather than a single batch of bad displays. What I read is they are sourcing from several different manufacturing plants for the displays, so perhaps one of them is putting out bad ones. I can’t say for sure that that is the case though. As far as the battery, I’d have to give you a little pushback on the fact that you’re knocking it for not being able to charge on the go. it is a portable device after all and the nature of any portable device that will have only so much battery life and that is an expectation that I think most people would have and understand. A person who did plan on taking it with them all over the place would probably pack a portable battery solution in order to get some more time out of it- at least that is what I plan on doing, which is why I spent some time talking about those options in the video. At any rate, I appreciate the conversation and the fact that you’re mentioning these things. This will certainly be helpful to many of those out there, who would be unwilling to take a chance on something given the fact that these problems exist. Take care, man! Keep on enjoying that rift as long as you possibly can because I agree it is still perfectly capable! ✌🏼
