Two years before the leader of the Phantom Thieves even arrived. So there are many holes on where she wants to step.
Also, the police officially don’t care if criminals run loose as long as they and only they are seen as heroes. I just said the only choice that matters is if you choose to sell out your friends or not. (with sae niijima) Other choices are just replys which only changes one line
basically be a decent human being lol if you snitched, you'd be no better than the corrupt adults in the game also, it doesn't matter, but i didn't rat out my confidants either and it felt good lol I think not snitching gives Joker enough time to remember the whole plan
Hey! For those of you who see the scene after this, no spoilers of course, but I freaked out thinking I had failed lol. Just let it roll. It’s not what you think!
Wait, people actually messed up here? Cause i could have sworn if you try to answer wrong the game stops you and says," hmm I dont think you should say that, you sure you wanna say that?"
It does. Both here and later for the choice between good/true ending, if you choose wrong the game asks you if you are certain about your decision. I honestly don't understand how someone can get it wrong.
The bad ending is really possible to be obtained in a blind run. One can simply go with this deal Sae gave to you and confess, and it's a valid choice from people who simply cannot lie. However, in police interrogations when you're busted, I learned that confessing the truth is exactly what the prosecutors wanted and confessing will end the interrogation right here and there and you will be charged. Nowhere to run. Well, what Sae said would lighten your sentence, yes, but at what cost...? Everyone involved with the crime will get caught too. That's how police cracks down on drug trafficking cases in real life! "Backbone" here means integrity. And police interrogations are meant to crumble that integrity through various mean, whether it through pressure, or understanding. Sae has overestimated your integrity the moment you decide to confess everyone who is involved. You basically... Give up everything. By choosing this option you have been honest for the wrong reasons. You sell out your friends for your own sake.
How I wanted it to go down: Joker: You know your sister, Makoto? Sae: What about her? Joker: *Leans in closer with a whisper* She calls me daddy too... Sae: *Lunges at Joker and beats him up far more than the cops did at the start*
It was weird that they didn't mention Akechi saying something like "seems like everyone's here" during the takoyaki scene. That line was more subtle than they pancakes scene tho, but strange that they didn't bring it up.
There's something I don't get: Hasn't the main character pretty much told her the entire story at this point? Why is revealing your accomplices even a choice then? Like, they even specifically talked about Makoto at one point and I don't imagine a way to tell the story without revealing people...
Evil Ryu he probably used their code names but mentions certain people that helped them and made team mates look like they accidentally helped the thieves. For example for Makoto he could have said that all she did was help a tiny bit without knowing.
Blake chandler well I've recently been replaying the game and he refers to makoto as student council president because when it cuts to the interrogation sae goes "student council president...? Makoto was involved with this?"
remember how he "seems to forget something important" then remembers it, but sae does not react as if she heard him? He tells her a "cut version" of the story while he himself remembers it fully.
She goes from trying to kill you in the medaverse to being the key to saving your life. Sae is an MVP but Futaba is the real hero for making this plan work.
Short answer to video don't rat out your friends 😂 a wise pervert once said those who break the rules are scum ....but those who abandon their friends are worse then scum
When Sae ask if Goro Akechi was a Phantom Thieve say “NOT Akechi” Then Sae will say “So Goro Akechi wasn’t one of you” Then when Sae is asking about who the true culprit is tell her “NOT a teammate” 😏
What I don't understand is why we can't say it was him... Like seriously the dude was never part of a member and he only wanted revenge. I personally would have confessed not snitch but confess the hell out of him knowing he is a freaking murderer. I am not there in the game yet so it's unclear to me if it's just a suspicious or they know it by fact. If is a suspicious then it's considered snitch but if you know by a fact he's the traitor. What's wrong pointing the finger to the right person behind the demise of your entire friends?
@@albertleslieurena2766I think because they wanted proofs against Akechi and a way to get to Shido first. Remember that Akechi was used as a scapegoat for Shido
Thank you soooooo much! I was thinking about just doing it myself (which would have led to the bad ending) and if it weren’t for this video I’d pretty much be in a terrible position right now! So thank you!
Pretty much don’t sell your friends out (Phantom Thieves AND other confidants alike) and use what you learned about Sae in her Palace to make it out alive. Would’ve loved that advice on my very first play through, but that’s what New Game + is for, right?
I actually failed this and died because I assumed that Akira had already told Sae most of everything anyway, considering how the entire game up until this point was a flashback. She was even one of your confidants, and you had just beaten her palace. I thought that there was a twist, like she was going to secretly help you escape if you gave up your friends, showing her that you trusted her. Basically, I over thought it, and I died. Kinda crushed me to be honest. Loaded up my save and continued onward like nothing ever happened. Still wish I would've chosen right though...
WatchingMaster 950 I didn't understand what I did i was like she already fucking knows o already snitch basically the entire game I just have to help her then she'll sneak out I'm an idiot
Same here, man.. I wanted to say NO, but started overthinking shit (Sae's cheating nature, as well as that I've already shared my story about my comrades earlier in the game to her). I did the same thing; restarted the game as soon as I saw the credits. I developed a newfound respect for my/Akira's friends, though.
Well sir you have no reason to feel bad because you also had a geninue way of thinking how things might have gotten. The games just did a plot twist nothing wrong with that. Obviously this game encourages relationship so the higher it is the more we feel at ease being with that person. Works in real life as well and probably in real life it might have worked somehow similar to how you might have imagined it

Went in blind, and i think i only slipped up near the end. I had read something wrong, and thought Sae was on our side, when she was still in questioning mode. Fun fact; the game will slap you in the face for choosing the wrong answer, so you have to deliberately go for the bad end.
*Sae slams table* 28 STAB WOUNDS!!! Lol just wanted to add that 😂 everytime she slammed the table it reminded me of the interrogation in Detroit becomes human. Also, thanks so much for this video, I watched it before I went ahead with this and selected similar choices. I was an idiot and I thought Sae would’ve helped Joker if I sold out my friends. I’ve seen the bad ending and it looks so depressing 😭 thank god I had 3 saves.
When I chose not to rat out my brus, I thought I got the bad ending when Joker died, and I was even more confused when Ryuji deviously smiled in the animated cutsene.
Someone remind me of the crazy plan this all went through First of all, the group suspected Akechi from the start when they heard him remark something about pancakes being said when Morgana was the only one saying anything (I noticed this and thought this meant he’d become a Thief along with/over Makoto, look how wrong I was) proving he had been to the Metaverse beforehand. After accepting his deal, they planned out everything to happen after Sae got her calling card. They’d steal the treasure as normal, but the actual treasure was replaced by an empty briefcase beforehand to trick Akechi into thinking it was the real thing. Then they knew somehow that Akechi would bring in the police to the Metaverse to catch Joker/the entire crew, so they acted surprised when they saw the army of officers when they in fact had planned out the next bit of text wall, to happen after Joker was caught. So there was a secret cognitive interrogation room and a real room, each with their own copies of Joker inside, because the Thieves somehow figured *that* out too. Sae interrogates the real Joker, and Akechi is tricked into killing the cognitive Joker so that everyone thinks he’s dead. The only thing that could ruin the entire plan is Sae not being convinced, so Joker has to convince Sae that he’s telling the truth and he’s not bad (if he doesn’t, bad ending, if he does, good ending), then tip her off to show Akechi the phone to transport him into the Metaverse so the real Joker wouldn’t die. And *then* after all of this the one person to smuggle Joker out is Sae after she’s convinced, to expose Akechi to the thieves and finally figure out who was behind everything. AND REMEMBER THAT THE THIEVES ARE A BUNCH OF HIGH SCHOOLERS AND AN ANTHROPOMORPHIC CAT, HOW THE HECK DID THEY THINK OF ALL OF THIS JVJKSLDCKJDDNCJCJANSMD
Well, necessity is the mother of invention. Once that slip was caught, they needed to make sure Goro Akechi was a completely known quantity. Hence, the wiretap. And once that wiretap bore fruit (the plot to kill the Theives) plans started getting formulated to work around that. The thing with the duplicate Joker was to get the copy into a place where Akechi would take the bait, tying together the thing about places unrelated to the Shadow's Palace matching how they appeared in reality (How Joker and Ryuji stumbled into this whole mess to begin with) and the thing about how non-threats don't get costumes (as seen in Futaba's Palace). As for how they figured all that shit out, they have a Morgana, a Makoto, and a Futaba. The heists can get pretty impressive with that caliber of tool at their disposal.
I love this was on my recommendation the moment I got this wrong. To be completely honest, I was sick at the time while doing this. I didn't even understand how bad this really is. It, just makes me feel like a garbage person for getting this bad ending. I betrayed my collaborators first. It is such a bad feeling to just, do that. It kinda makes me wonder if I am a bad person or not. Either way, thank you for posting this for the people who need it.
@@X1erra I don't think they betrayed me, I feel like it was more like me betraying them. But if you meant something else then I apologize for not understanding. Edit: I honestly had no intention on ratting out either. Looking back at it now, I seriously question how one can mess this up. To this day I still think that I'm an awful person for choosing this. I just wasn't thinking at all at the time.
The fuzzy effects that happen afterwards; the one where she showed the phone to Akechi, is them both transferring to Sae's Palace unconciously. When she picks up the ringing phone after some time, the same effect happens again, and both are transferred back to the real world. She then warns the same guard that was shot in her palace to go into hiding. Basically that guard never gets shot in the end... And so are you.

When she said she would lighten the sentence if we rat out our friends , I was like BAITCH I WOULD RATHER DIE THAN RAT OUT MY FRIENDS also what happens when you rat out your friends?
well, basically you won't get to give your phone which is essential to luring the traitor into shooting your cognitive self and not you. If you rat them out immediately, she'll just finish the interrogtion without further ado so that the traitor gets a clear shot at you.
In the true ending, whatever happened to Joker in the present day? Was he placed in jail? Free to go? Or did he escaped from the police department? I don't have the game and don't have time to watch all the walkthrough videos
I almost snitched because she kept telling me it was the only way out, but when the game asked ARE YOU SURE YOU WANNA DO THAT, YOU FREAKIN' MORON? I realized I wasn't supposed to, lol. In hindsight it was a pretty stupid idea since all Sae ever promised me was to maybe get me out of the death penalty.
This video seems to have confused the majority of people. If you're playing this and decide to sell out your friends then what do you expect? Plus the game basically warns you if you try to do it and it's so blatantly obvious no one should ever accidentally get this.
CK TV same. I don't understand why you would snitch on your friends. I suspected Sae was using a tactical manuver by being friendly so she could trick the MC into snitching.
Aye. Y'all need to watch or read a documentary about police interrogations. You'll understand the tactics they use to drive you into confessing and bargaining a deal is but one of the ways. By confessing, you have been played right into their hands, the police have found their evidence to put you... And your friends, in jail. There's no escape if you confess.
am I the only one who believed that we didn't really need to change Sae's heart? I mean we did need it for her to stop pursuing us but at the same time it was just mostly a trap for Akechi's betrayal, since in the end it was like a "fuck it with the treasure and run!" or maybe it was just my way of interpreting the game, to this day I still play because why not?
I genuinely thought I could not go back and change my options, thanks to you I can reverse my death along with making a previous save. Thank you for making this video, genuinely.

Some ppl do it on purpose
How I wanted it to go down:

There's something I don't get: Hasn't the main character pretty much told her the entire story at this point? Why is revealing your accomplices even a choice then? Like, they even specifically talked about Makoto at one point and I don't imagine a way to tell the story without revealing people...
Evil Ryu that’s what I don’t get either.
Maybe he didnt tell the names and number of party members he could tell something like we crushed the kamoshida then we celebrated it with my team
"Then on Friday I invited Makoto over to my room and we had.." *Inuadible sounds of someone getting beaten up*
"... So, the game is over".
What a truly foolish end
Lmao I wonder if the protagonist actually does that "thing" the the confidants
Sae's voice acting is on point!
She goes from trying to kill you in the medaverse to being the key to saving your life. Sae is an MVP but Futaba is the real hero for making this plan work.

Your welcome!!!
Same! I still feel guilty though
YOU RAT YOU!!! Jk! Lol

Hahahha no prob
Sae is punching the table like nothing. Phoenix would be proud
This would theoretically explain why Persona 5: The Royal will be released from 2019 to 2020.
I even tried to intentionally choose different dialogue options on my 2nd playthrough and somehow never knew there was a possibility to die.
When I chose not to rat out my brus, I thought I got the bad ending when Joker died, and I was even more confused when Ryuji deviously smiled in the animated cutsene.
I've got persona 5 and just got to this point in game last night. And mind I that was epic faked death lol.
Someone remind me of the crazy plan this all went through
First of all, the group suspected Akechi from the start when they heard him remark something about pancakes being said when Morgana was the only one saying anything (I noticed this and thought this meant he’d become a Thief along with/over Makoto, look how wrong I was) proving he had been to the Metaverse beforehand.
Your welcome !
Ratting your way out is bad... Even if it's honest. Unless they really betrayed you.

Old memes 2017
When Sae answered phone, was that when she entered her palace and the plan went off?
Yes. They explain it a bit after
The fuzzy effects that happen afterwards; the one where she showed the phone to Akechi, is them both transferring to Sae's Palace unconciously. When she picks up the ringing phone after some time, the same effect happens again, and both are transferred back to the real world. She then warns the same guard that was shot in her palace to go into hiding. Basically that guard never gets shot in the end... And so are you.
Momma didn't raise no snitch
Sae assumes wayyy too much stuff in this scene to save Joker's ass. That's what we call plot convenience. There's a lot of that in this game.

also notice you didn't have an opption to sell out akechi
When she said she would lighten the sentence if we rat out our friends , I was like BAITCH I WOULD RATHER DIE THAN RAT OUT MY FRIENDS also what happens when you rat out your friends?
well, basically you won't get to give your phone which is essential to luring the traitor into shooting your cognitive self and not you. If you rat them out immediately, she'll just finish the interrogtion without further ado so that the traitor gets a clear shot at you.
Well Akechi shoots you in the head and kills you, instead of your cognitive self...I think? I don’t remember the video that well.....
the real you dies instead of the fake you

In the true ending, whatever happened to Joker in the present day? Was he placed in jail? Free to go? Or did he escaped from the police department?
I don't have the game and don't have time to watch all the walkthrough videos
Joker would still be palaced in jail for 2 months, just enough time for sae to took care of things, after that you free. Just mere formality

This video seems to have confused the majority of people. If you're playing this and decide to sell out your friends then what do you expect? Plus the game basically warns you if you try to do it and it's so blatantly obvious no one should ever accidentally get this.
Sae just had to look into Akira's phone to know who's working with him and to know how the Metaverse is working
People actually need help on this? The first time I played, I hit it right on the head, no problem.

The true ending of Persona 4 is way harder to get since you have to gather your friends on the LAST DAY after you’ve just said your goodbyes!
