There's no shortage of work when rebuilding a firearm manufacturer from the ground up. The first step in this process was visiting the Smith and Wesson headquarters to get a detailed list of machines, products and tooling that needs to be shipped back to New Hampshire. In this tour, we were able to get an inside look at historic Thompson/Center firearms as well as the machines used to build our new product lines.

1. This man actually knows T/C’s history and products. 2. He has a mission. As long as the quality is kept high, T/C will thrive again.
Thanks for the support!
@@TCArmsCo I am a very long time Contender shooter, have owned lots of T/C’s products, and look forward to introducing my grandchildren to the new T/C!
I only hope they go back to making side hammer bp rifles, love them, an hunt with mine, praying.
I'm excited that TC is in great hands and is coming back. Thank you.
@TCArmsCo thanks for bringing it back to New Hampshire! I remember the good old days driving down to Rochester to buy barrels at Fox Ridge.
You made the right decision to get it back to New Hampshire and away from Massachusetts.
Isn't New Hampshire a liberal state?
@@utcnc7mm It is, but in a different way from Massachusetts... at least for now. Vermont and NH used to be the gun friendliest states in the Union, then VT fell to the NYC champagne socialists that relocated there. NH perseveres in being gun friendly, although the Dems, no doubt, scheme to change that.
@@TwinklesTheChinchilla you would think one of those Southern states may have offered tax breaks or something of that nature to get his business to locate there.
@utcnc7mm Texas, and I think Tennessee has done just that. We are gun friendly. I would stay away from Houston and Austin. The DFW metroplex would probably be the best location.
@@marcustalley7987 True, most of your Southern states will be very Pro 2A
I can’t wait for TC to come back alive again.. 😎👍🏻
Their customer support was second to none!
Thompson Center arms were the closest thing to modern classics as one can get.
What happened to smith and wesson?
They moved the headquarters to Tennessee and most of production to Georgia. But part of doing that they discontinued alot products so they wouldn't have to move tooling.
Let's GO!!! How early can we get our orders in??
This IS some of the Best News I Heard in YEARS!
I agree I was just thinking the other day about I wish they were back
Absolutely
SO YOUR TELLING ME THAT THE CONTENDER IS ON THE MENU AGAIN? God bless and all things for His glory!
I'm just learning of this gun, but that thing sounds so nice.
From a loyal T/C fan. Thank you for not letting this historic brand die.
I am a huge TC fan and I actually started unloading some of the stuff that I had duplicates and triplicates of because the prices are in freaking sane Right now. 444 Marlin barrels over $700 on eBay 4570 barrels going over $1,000. I sold a ported 44 Magnum that I reamed out to 444 for more than I paid for the entire gun 10 years ago. I'm very excited that there will be OEM barrels available again, but at this point I'm sure they'll be priced the same as a MGM or a bullberry, so I'll probably still end up getting aftermarket. If you guys want to really stand out, you should invest the time in engineering to come out with a smokeless muzzleloader barrel. I've had two built by two different people, both off of 4570 barrels and I would love to see a Thompson Center factory take on the smokeless muzzleloader. I've got over $1,300 invested in each smokeless barrel. I would also like to see some of factory sub 17 caliber barrels. Nobody's done that yet. Like a 14 squirrel or any of the other 25acp based mini cases. I'm excited! I'm going to have to get another safe.
As a Gunsmith and Gun Nut this makes me So happy to see this happening.
Same!
Same!!
I second that motion!!! 🤠👍
Bring back the T/C Contender.
i wish they would but prob not gonna happen
I’d like to see em bring back the Hawken & Tenegade muzzleloaders!
@@hatchetjackphillips Bring back the whole line. Pennsylvania, white mountain. We've seen a surge in interest in muzzle loaders since Montana added a traditional muzzle loader season. Whenever we get and old T/C in our gun shop it doesn't last long. People remember the quality and happily pay for it.
Had a TC renegade would love to see them come back
I have an original contender in 357 mag. But i can not find any barrel for it.
I am 76 years old. I grew up hunting, especially with black powder. I am thrilled to see a young man pick up the baton and continue the work of such a trusted brand and make it his own. Just outstanding. He deserves our support.
I have a .32 Cherokee, .36 Seneca, .45 Seneca, .50 Renegade, .54 White Mountain Carbine, a G2 with 6 barrels, and an Encore with 3 barrels. Thank you for not letting this iconic company die!
I have an encore pistol 45-70. I even made a custom grip for it, and I would love to be able to get another barrel for it!
Jealous of your .32. I've been looking for one for years.
It's so refreshing to see passion rather than just seeing profit margins.
The board does that. 😑
Glad you saved her.
This is Incredible news!!! I have been a TC loyal customer and fan and can not thank you enough. Customer for life !
Thanks for watching!
@@TCArmsCo
Bring them back to market and we wont just be watching, we will be buying.
I will pay for Made in the USA.
I'll take a 45/70
300 win mag
450 bushmaster
Can't imagine what a huge undertaking that move and organization will entail!
Your aggressive timeline is amazing! Now I will have to inventory all my T/C
barrels for both the rifles and handguns!
I know that I will be needing multiple receivers.
Do you plan on making any of the receivers in stainless and if so do you have any idea how soon?
Thank you for this huge investment of your time!
Bad decision on s&w to discontinue TC I’m glad to see it coming back. Thompsons an American name that needs to live on. Hats off to you my friend.
Can’t say I agree. Good on S&W to pass the stewardship on to such a deserving individual. You can’t do everything. Strong relationships in the market and competitors is good for everyone.
Think about it, it could have been the best thing that could have happened to T/C. Smith would never build a product off quality over gross profit.
It’s so great to see tc being saved. What a true patriot.
PLEASE produce that falling block in modern cartridges!!
I love my encore. It's very accurate but the falling block would be nicer on the bench
Yes, please!!!
Wow!! In today’s political climate with so many crackpots wanting to ban guns, you have the kahones to buy a firearms co. KUDOS to you sir 👍🏼👍🏼
@@garyguerin5806 And keep it in the Northeast..? Ironic that the first colonies to to fight for freedom have been leading the charge to destroy it and the Constitution. Vermont is too close to the beating heart of Marxist revolutionaries. Go West, young man.!!
I second this. Make one in 308. It would be cool.
Thank you! Was very disappointed when S&W stopped production of the T/C brand. Love my TC’s. Can’t wait for the products to come back to life!!!
Over 40 years ago I shot A TC In competition I was fifteen My dad still has that gun with numerous barrels. Congratulations on your new endeavor
Please, please, bring the TC dimension back into production. One of my absolute favorite rifles!!
Best news I have ever heard. Thank you for saving T/C!!!!!!!!!!!
THANK YOU for bringing TC back to NH!!!!
I hope to see contender, encore, and the muzzle loaders come back! Huge fan!!!!
It's a tough thing to bring TC back but with people who care & have the passion to do it right things will happen. God bless you all. 🙏👍
My Grandpa died suddenly on Aug 4th of this year, three days after this video was released. His sister had worked at TC for over a decade, and if I remember correctly, part of their employee discount was 1 free frame or 2 free barrels per year. She was not particularly interested in shooting or hunting, but since my grandpa was an avid outdoorsman, he took advantage. He eventually built up a large collection contenders, G2s, and encores, along with a ton of barrels, and a Hawkins. He taught me firearm safety and marksmanship with a stainless contender .22lr. Since I’m his only grandchild with any interest, the whole collection is coming to me.
This video came out 3 days before he died. I just wish I saw it and showed him before he went.
On the upside, it looks like I have some money to spend on building the collection again. I hope they make a short threaded stainless .300blk barrel!
+ 1 on the 300aac
This is outstanding news ! We all as gun owners , hunters and enthusiast wish you and Thompson Center nothing but success !
Thanks for bringing us along on the journey
As a PA hunter, please bring back the TC Hawken Flintlock. I have the 25th anniversary 50 cal built from a kit. Love that gun.
This is so exciting! I have a .54 Hawken, .54 Renegade and a .50 Renegade. My dad still hunts turkey with his TC New Englander 12 gauge that he bought new in the ‘80’s. I’m so happy and excited that TC is back!
Was never a Thompson buyer but I will now this man knows what he’s doing and knows what he’s talking about. I’m so glad they got out of mass one of the most anti 2-a states in the USA I will be buying a new tc when they hit the shelves love this man’s vision
Oh to have a T/C Hawken in .54 cal. again! Wishing you all the best success! What a great historical firearms company to bring to life again, Yes!
I remember being a young lad and shooting my grandfather’s contender a lot. He won rimfire silhouette shoots with a .22 LR carbine set up. He was definitely upset when the contender was discontinued, and I believe if he were alive today that he would be extremely happy to see T/C getting back to their roots. I now own all of his T/C inventory and needless to say it was a pretty impressive collection between contender accessories and muzzleloaders.
Happy to see things coming back!
We're glad you get to enjoy your grandfathers collection!
I have Contender carbine barrels in .22lr. Interesting note all barrels of a given caliber were button rifled and cut down lathed lugged and chambered after. The rimfire barrels had the same 1/12" twist rifling as their centerfire .224" barrels had and shot the 60gr Aguila SSS load like a LASER.
I have an T/C Encore Pro Hunter and a few barrels for it. I'm glad to see you bringing the company back, not only because the parts availability will benefit me, but also because it's a really cool niche that's effectively (at least as far as I'm aware) unfilled at the moment.
Good luck on everything.
TC was once a great company! My Renegade shoots as good as the day I bought it. Hopefully the quality control and customer service will be like it was back in the day!!!
I love my dimension, I hope that there is a movement to re-start manufacturing of that platform.
All i can say is wow!!! So glad TC will be back. Had several TC rifles and loved them. My favorite one I have is the TC venture, such a great shooting rifle. Really hope you keep us updated throughout the progress!
When you reintroduce the Contender, consider making barrels in many of the wildcat cartridges developed for it by JDJ, SSK Industries, etc. There were whole lines of cartridges developed for peak performance in the 14" T/C barrel. Pistol brace?
First thing I noticed was your love for the industry, I'm really happy to see TC coming back!!
...50 years ago, this month - in August 1974 I bought a T/C Hawken in 50cal @ Edelman's Sporting Good Store in Wayne, NJ...enjoyed the Hades out of it...cast my own round ball & Maxi-Ball projectiles using, IIRC a Lyman mold /handle combo and a, again IIRC, Lee melting pot...shortly after I moved from NJ to the free state of Florida I needed quick money and pawned it and subsequently forgot it...I'd love to see the Hawken brought back...loved the set triggers - after you set it - as soon as your brain registered that your eye was in target - the shot was downrange!!! Thanx for bringing T/C back to life!!!
Bought my house from my Dad, believe Edelman’s number is still written on the wall in the basement somewhere 😂🤣
@@thedude5869 ....IIRC, Leslie Edelman went to have a part in starting up Kimber...
Brilliant, I am a very rare breed here in the UK who shoots Thompson/Center rifles, from 17 Remington through to 300 H&H , 458Win AND my own wildcat 257RRI they have never failed me and travelled the world. I wish you all success.
Greg! So happy TC is back!! I have the Pro, venture and dimension
Can’t wait for the things to come! Have been a follower of yours from the Jim Shockey days. Keep the passion! Mark
Hopefully T/C will commit to 100% Made in U.S.A. It breaks my heart to see the M70 being made in Portugal and the M94 being made in Japan.
Well, we still have HiPoint, and Kel Tec. 🫢🤐
This is WONDERFUL news!!!! I have long mourned T/C'S demise. I wish you all the best my friend. God bless you and your enterprise!
This announcement absolutely made my day! I love TC Arms and have purchased (3) New Hampshire-made Renegade Hunters for myself and and my sons over the years and treated myself to a New Hampshire-made 209 Encore muzzleloader about twenty five tears ago. The Encore is incredibly well made with deep mirror-like bluing and the best trigger of any firearm that I own.
I have taken more deer with that gun than with any other gun I own. I kicked myself a few years ago for not buying an extra centerfire barrel or two for the Encore when S&W was starting to flounder with the TC line It is heartwarming to know you are going back to New Hampshire. Good luck. I am looking forward to becoming a loyal customer again.
Good news and excellent review. Thompson Center is coming back.
I have shot Contenders and Hawkins and all were top quality firearms. The last TC I shot was my friend's Encore 300 Weatherby Magnum. We sighted in each other's guns before an elk hunt and it was excellent. I'm glad they're coming back.
YES thank you for not only bringing Thompson back , but moving it out of Massachusetts. As a T/C contender since 1982 again THANK YOU
I`m glad to see this happening. The best of luck to you, and your employees.
Fantastic video. I hope the next iteration of TC fixes quality control which was really slipping when TC went under. Got nervous when he talked about just shipping out old inventory quickly. Plus, the low-end hunting rifles have gotten A LOT more competitive since then. I loved the vid though and am excited to see what TC becomes again. Will definitely buy one.
Thanks for the feedback!
To be fair though, he also said that a lot of work had to be done before they could start using the existing stock of parts.
So glad you bought TC. I love my TC Encore .50 cal M/L, 25-06, my old Renegade and my Contender !
What a daunting task. I’ve been a TC fan for many many years and will no doubt buy a new one when they come out! Wish yall the best of luck in this monumental task!
TC Venture .308 Win owner here in South Africa 🇿🇦💪🏾
@selfresponder6043 I also own a 308 venture, it's a nail driver. I'm planning on keeping it for the rest of my life. 🇺🇸
Absolutely prefer my TC VENTURE 308 over others I own!
I'm glad to See T.C. re birthed . I bought my first frame in early 2019 at Tulsa, Oklahoma Gun Show. I have several barrels both in rifle and pistol lengths.
VERY excited! As a decades long Rochester, NH resident and formerly a gun shop owner in the area for over 17 years, this is indeed good news. Not only for Rochester, but the industry as a whole.
Nice to see you're still alive and kicking. You built a great business that has done very well over the years.
Bring back the dimension, interchangeable bolt action is all the rage right now on the high end bolt action market. Make it economical
Congratulations! Looking forward to seeing, buying and supporting you as soon as products are available. This is huge!
I bet the folks in New Hampshire are happy
Can’t say as we notice
I am so pumped for this mission!
God speed gentlemen.
Great news, I've never owned a T/C but I REALLY wanted one of the pink and black Encores. Now that we own our own land I have a place to hunt and I want a pink and black Encore even more. Super excited, thanks to the folks who brought this brand back!!
It would have been a terrible shame to let the TC brand die forever. This is great news. Thanks for breathing life back into a famous brand.
I hope you come back with the Dimension it was just a interesting rifle
Can’t wait to see what products you bring back. So glad to see TC making a comeback.
More jobs for New Hampshire! Thank you and welcome home!
I built a TC Hawken kit in 54 Cal. Sold it, and have regretted doing so ever since. Please start making that kit once again and give an old man the chance at redemption. 😇
I built a 54 Hawken in 95 it'll be pried from my cold dead hands
I’m a gunsmith and very happy to see t/c back in business. Congratulations. Something I thing would improve your encore and contenders and Inlines too for that matter is adjustable triggers. I have done a lot of trigger work for people on them it is the only complaint they had. Make sure the customer service is what it was in the past and put out the same quality as before and you will be very successful. Welcome back good luck 👍
i live in NH and have been hunting with TC muzzle loaders for over 40 years.... so excited to have TC back...
Thank for sharing this video.
I'm proud owner of some T/C fire armes .It's really great to see it back!! 👍
WELCOME BACK❗️and the best of luck on a great line of Firearms 🇺🇲
This is fantastic news! My first TC must have been a very early production firearm. It was a Seneca but it was marked Hawken on the barrel. The ramrod thimbals were soldered to the barrel. I eventually bought a Renegade in .54 cal and still have it as well as my favorite, an Omega X7 in 50. I hope you are able to rescue the company. My wish would be for you to develop a smokeless version of the omega. That would be the perfect muzzleloader for those of us who enjoy hunting with a front loader. Good luck!
I'm with you on a smokeless-fueled muzzleloader. I'm not sure there will ever be another one from a major gun company; though, for liability reasons. More than likely, some genius would eventually decide to put 150 grains of smokeless whatever in it and their family would sue the gun company out of existence.
I bought my first TC, the TCR22 Ruger clone right before they shut down. Great build quality and design!
Glad to see you back.
Those were fine affordable rifles
I had no idea TC was being revived until seeing this video. This makes me so happy, i have tons of TC stuff and hunt with most every season. I loved the system ONE that came out. I bought one but never got the opportunity to add barrels to it before it was discontinued. Would love to see more part offerings to former production firearms .
I'm highly excited that TC is coming back. When I was in the market for a 308 bolt action a couple of years ago. I searched all over the internet for a Compass II. None to be found. I was forced to buy a Ruger. My 6.5 creedmoor Compass II was probably the best bolt action for the money. When TC was still in business.
Tell me about it I got back into hunting in 2019 after a decade and bought a tc compass 2 in 6.5 Creedmoor even though I don't hunt with it anymore got in to the short mags it's still one of my best shooting rifles with 140 eldm n gets more paper time than everything besides my 308
YES!!! Not only will this bring back TC products, I can stop boycotting S&W for shutting down the brand! That's a win-win! I hope the Icon series will return!
Yes, when S&W shuttled TC. I was the same. I wouldn't have bought anything with their name on it.
Sorry but I will not ever buy another smith and Wesson product just because of what they did to TC .
I mean the Icon is a nice rifle but that's not what most people want from T/C. I want to see the Encore and Contenders again. The bolt action market is saturated - single shots are much less common.
@@neilis2405 yes,I want them to make a 45 cal. black powder barrel for the encore.
S&W didn't do that the people did it by buying all the cheap crap from cva and traditions
Brilliant news to hear !! Please look at manufacturing and supplying the older models's parts , especially the muzzleloaders . All of the best wishes for T/C's future 👍
I agree with you on the older parts. My flintlock Renegade is 44 years old, with a replace ment Roundball barrel. Shoots very well to this day!
What a Relief, I have collected TC barrels since 1976. I love this accurate platform. Hope- Reborn!
Thank you for all that you are doing. I'm old now and built my Hawkins in the 70s, and sill have it, scoped it,and is horably accurate and has taken many deer. God Bless you all for bringing this back. Please keep the quality, which is not seen anymore with all of the stupid plastics.......
Welcome back, great to have you guys back
Thank goodness TC is back!!
Awesome. My Omega and 300 grain original shock waves are my favorites.
So excited to hear this OH MY!!!
My wife has a TC ICON in 30 TC AND THAT GUN IS AN ABSOLUTE TACK-DRIVER!!!

Walnut stock/ aluminum bedded, jeweled bolt, counterbored muzzle, integrated scope bases….. long story short I have told her if I can find another TC ICON I AM BUYING IT!
Yesterday I found one, she looked at me and said “I understand, I get it its an incredible rifle, it’s discontinued and get it!”
I got it! Now we have 2!
Please make the ICON again, please don’t change anything, not a thing! Please make magazines and parts for us. Please make me more ICONS!

I’m super excited and proud of you man for bringing some more manufacturing jobs back to NH and a company so many sportsman love and support. I grew up shooting my dads TC Cherokee 45 cal muzzleloader. The wood stock with the engraved side plates make that rifle still one of the most beautiful pieces in the family. This makes me so happy to see! God speed and I’m going to be ordering a hawken if y’all bring it back for my daughter. Welcome back to the “Live Free or Die” State TC!
I've personally never seen the appeal of a single-shot handgun, but good luck on the move! I can certainly say that moving away from MA is a positive aspect.
Single shot handguns end up covering a weird niche. There's the pistol hunting group. Then the hand loaders, who want a longer barrel to get some more uuumph from pistol carts.
.357 in a 10" barrel, in a product that is more svelte than any revolver, has some merit.
Obviously not for a lot of situations, but has merit. All that said, getting a handgun that is relatively easily convertible is a nice thing.
That said, I don't think I've said anything you didn't already know.
Hunting and silhouette pistol competition.
My brother has a .308 pistol. He used it for silhouette targets.
It's a niche thing that some of us just want to have. I remember seeing them in many hunting magazines when I was young and always wanted one. By the time I was in a situation where I could buy them, the availability was gone. I could only get the Encore and in 300 WM and a 30-06 barrel separately. But not the pistol, I was into the target shooting phase of the firearms hobby.
@@SlavicCelery... Definitely the longbow and recurve of the gun hunter. Make it a bit more sporting.
Thanks so much for the video. Hope you will give some thought in producing a rifle in 6.5 Grendel. The only factory offerings
in a Bolt gun are from Howa and Ruger. Best of Luck....Past and Future customer
Thanks for watching. Stay tuned!
Very cool, I love to see Americans who love what they do this person is passionate about firearms and its history. Glad to see we have people like this keeping are freedoms. Glad to see Thompson coming back. We want the tc back all with iron sights and drilled and tapped. We want to see TC to put a single shot rifle out there. Don't forget the straight walled cartridges like 350 Legend or 360 Buckhammer so you can hunt deer in straight wall states.

Bought my Super 14 44 mag with the TC 2.5x scope in 1981, still in the collection. Love TC/Encore! Happy to see you making the investments in continuing the brand. Being a retired business guy I'm wondering why Smith wouldn't just lease you the space to operate doesn't appear that they are expanding within? Maybe they're considering moving to a more 2A friendly state as well? Again Thanks and Good Luck!
Just looked it up yes S&W is moving to Tennessee good for them!
my favorite pistol was a 45/70 pistol. the fire ring from that thing is amazing. lol
Could you actually hit anything with it, or keep a scope from sliding around; even with three rings? I couldn't ... and sent it back to T/C and asked them to try it. They couldn't, either. They did swap me barrels for a 7/30 Waters, though.
I really hope the pro hunter line comes back very excited about future announcement. I love my encore in 243 pistol and I also enjoy my grandfather's contender that I inheratided when he passed.
This is great news
I bought a Thompson Center back in 2018, a encore with a 460 Magnum barrel its my 1st firearm in my name
When I herd the closure it was sad, this is so cool they are coming back, great and unique product lines that need to be available again
I was worried that S&W might have scrapped everything.
Glad to see it was carefully mothballed waiting for anew owner.
I don't understand why they discontinued the brand before selling it.
I am thrilled everything has a new home and is in good hands.
Ugh. Move to a 2A friendly state….having said that, I’m glad TC is back in the game. ❤
They will be fine if they dont build an AR-15 or get into tactical combat crap. Stay with fine sporting arms
I love my T/C Compass!!!
Bought it as my first bolt gun/ learning platform.
I have bedded the OE stock,
added an Atlas pic rail bipod mount, built my own cheek riser out of kydex, filled the buttstock with sand for added weight/recoil reduction and made my own length of pull spacers for the stock.
Then painted the stock FDE
Gun has a 20 moa EGW rail with a 10x SWFA optic.
It does not look like a $250 gun anymore and it never shot like a $250 to begin with!
So happy to hear that T/C is back!
I love mine too... just had trouble trying to find an extra magazine that didn't cost more than the rifle. Hopefully that won't be the case for too long.

I agree the rotary box mag is not easily replaced or modified
I had worked on making my own bottom metal insert to allow aics pmags to be used but never finished the project. Mag insertion depth mag retention and release were all big hurdles to leap over so I accepted that the rotary mag was the only game in town.
I even looked at inletting a magpul polymer bottom metal but it was dimensionally all wrong for the compass stock
Maybe an internet search will show that their are options for this now but being an obscure platform I doubt it.
I worked for TC many years ago at the Rochester, NH factory before it closed (and I enlisted in the Navy) in the Metal Finish dept and assisting the custom shop gunsmith with finishes as needed. Steve S. was my boss. It's amazing to see the business coming back to New Hampshire after all these years, and under leadership that has such a long history with the company. Really excited to see what comes next, guys.
This is really good news! As an owner or a TCA Encore I was really dissapointed S&W discontinued T/C Arms and parts were doomed to dry up. A great hand to the brave man who decided to step in and save it!
Fantastic news! I bought my Contender back in 75, still a favorite of mine. Are you going to make barrels for the Gen 1 & 2 Contenders?
